Tigers acquire our old friend Wilson Betemit
GoodAsGould replied to Steve9347's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 02:47 AM) Jermaine Dye was pretty much left for dead by most on here after he'd been terrible in 2003 (OPS+ of 38), was basically a lefty masher in 2004, and started off terrible in 2005. I will give Walker credit for Dye, deserved or not. Another player who really credited Walker with helping out his game was Crede. He was on pace to hit about 35 homers in 2006 with an OPS around .875 (he was at .884 on September 2nd) before his back flared up and he was absolutely terrible in September, and then he could never recover from that point forward. There are success stories, but I believe Walker has worn out his welcome with the Sox. He's been with the Sox for almost 10 years now as the MLB hitting coach, so simply getting another voice in there really can't do much harm. Wasn't Dye super injury prone during his time in Oakland before coming here, I don't give any credit of that to Walker. I can agree that Crede probably is the one guy you can point at, Quentin to a smaller degree although that season he had a few years back seems like a fluke now. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) It still looks easy for him. It is easy for him, just doing it throughout a whole season is when his age would show. I bet if he only played a game a week he could still bring it and easy score 15-16ppg. -
Fyi, JPN has seen these guys play on a daily basis. The people writing the scouting reports come down for a weekend series if that and make that statement, most of it just restating what they knew about the kid from the draft than what they actually see with their eyes.

It is kind of pointless to argue a point with someone obviously too stubborn to ever change their mind.

I think Greg needs to read 12 Angry Men or whatever that book is called, that seemed like a pretty easy guilty verdict they were talking about too.

QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:07 AM) This makes no sense. Jeter has always been a team first player, never proved to be a distraction to the team, and has the 5 rings and clutch moments to back it up. Rodriguez, on the other hand has provided several distractions throughout his career, especially with the Yankees, and I have no respect for any man who cheats on his wife and their two children, especially with a stripper, or even worse, Madonna. I bet you almost every athlete cheats on their wife, only reason Jeter hasn't is because he never got married as far as I know. Jeter is a good player but on any other team he would prob be a fringe HoF and a 2B but since his career was with the Yankees it gave him the chance to be what he is and props to him for it.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 07:37 PM) LOL. What you think he will be better than that, I think chances are he wont be that good. -
Whats the deal with Kyle Beach, I've heard his name as a supposed stud prospect but still no chance to make the team?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) And? Does that diminish his attitude? First when he said he was staying everyone was saying he's lying, now you cant accept his words for the truth. Maybe the kid just meant what he said, that he wanted to be a college kid longer. Thats what I wish more college athletes would want instead of the dollar bills. I'd stay an extra year or 2 when I'm a stud at college game but in the NBA my ceiling is Paul Millsap. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) I just don't see what those games had that this one didn't. Obviously because this one was played by females is the only difference.... That being said I only look back at this game if they go on and win the whole thing.... otherwise it will be forgotten.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 10:41 PM) How dare you! Everyone knew Mitchell was going to have a devastating injury and that Mike Trout would excell exponentially in his career. Kenny just refused to ignore the obvious future ankle injury. I definitely wanted Smoak over Beckham, that being said Beckham was hardly a bad pick and overall was happy with it. I had no problem with the Mitchell pick but I definitely was upset about passing on Scheppers twice. Sale was clearly an awesome pick and have no issues with it as well.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 10:22 AM) Teenage pregnancy and teenagers having sex are two different things. My point wasn't to be all preachy about it, I just never understood why people were against teaching abstinence. As if that's some horrible advice. Because its a joke and a waste of time, anyone in school that took the abstinence stuff seriously were people that weren't having sex anyways because of looks or religion.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) I can't imagine that would be true. Would the Bears have been able to have any communication with Cullen? If it did happen, I'd have to imagine someone would be putting in a complaint to the league. Cmon now, its just like college football you know teams are talking to their own players and f/a's behind the scenes. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) I'm going to assume that's because you root for one of his rivals. Federer has always come off like a nice guy to me. I think he used to be a huge sore loser back when Sampras/Agassi were dominating the tennis world, but since than he has been humble yet I still don't like him.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 12:05 AM) Great comeback by Tsonga against Federer in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. I thought Murray had a chance of beating Nadal, but that didn't work out. Djokovic and Nadal in the final. And no matter the outcome, Djokovic is #1 in the world on Monday. 47-1 in 2011 if I'm not mistaken. Insane. Sunday morning, 8 AM CT. Should be an incredible final. Yeah, but hard to not call Nadal the true #1 if he wins, he just ups his game big time for when it matters the most. I know Federer has always come off as a pretty good guy, but I'm happy his time as the dominant number 1 has firmly come to an end.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) Tell that to the Bulls. They have Luol Deng at SF who isn't amazing but I think barring a handful of teams would start anywhere. SG yes, but the Bulls just seemingly don't try to properly address that position ever... one time they had a potential candidate for it he was traded within a week. I blame that position being a blackhole for the Bulls on management. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) it does if you are trying to stockpile draft picks and controllable salaries. Taking Valanciunas(sp?) and having another poor season while keeping your best player seems better fit to me. Than you go into next season with needs at SF/SG which are probably the 2 easiest positions to fill. -

Honestly Ill take either one, I think Jrich would fit in with the team better but if Thibs and Drose think they can handle everything JR brings he obviously is more talented and younger. -
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 01:31 AM) I don't understand why people want to doubt Tyler Kuhn. Im really high on Kuhn too, but I was also a big fan of Getz and that didn't end up too great.....I'm hoping Kuhn gets a promotion soon though, don't think there is much left for him to do at AA.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:34 PM) And I'll say it again, I don't care what you think of me. I will say whatever the f***l I want to say when I want to say it. As long as I'm not attacking other posters, I should be game. But it looks like the criteria is changing. I wouldnt worry about it, everyone has disagreed with you just about but only 1 admin jumped the gun and nobody else seems to care what he said.
