  1. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) Test. Jon garland sucks ass and rowand needs to be benched the entire year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Welcome Kortney, hope you enjoy the message board (and learn something about baseball in the process so you stop asking me stupid ?'s in the middle of games )
  2. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) Afraid to any further, as the link is a place called "Celebrity Gangbang". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I saw that and X'd it out too. I'll wait till i'm away from the college to open it...
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) He didn't like the re-signing of Ben Davis... Since when is $1 million way too much money for a backup catcher that is pretty good defensively? What did the Cubs just pay for the purely defensive backtop, Henry Blanco? Oh yeah, 2-years, $2.7 million. :rolly <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have to agree. Plus you have to remember that at the time signing AJ was far from a done deal. Davis made like what 1.3 Mil last season, KW got him to take a pay cut. Had he not resigned him at all and AJ didn't get signed we would have a catching Duo of Burke and ??????. Also I guarantee you that AJ would have demanded way more then he got had Davis not been resigned because he would of smelt the desperation at having Burke be our only major league ready C. Davis was a necessary signing no matter how to look at it.
  4. Actually the more I think about it the more I think the Tigers are the best place for Maggs. I fully believe he will spend the majority of his time DHing this year. He might end up being an Edgar Martinez like player. He couldn't do that on an NL team. Still i'm in shock that they made him that offer and as greedy and selfish as Maggs has become he was stupid enough to turn it down.
  5. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) Alex Cintron from the D-Backs. He could probably be had for a young bullpen arm, maybe w/ Borchard thrown in. The 26 yr old switch hitter has lost his everyday SS gig to Royce Clayton, and they're stocked at 2b with Counsell, Kata and Hairston. Yet he can also play 3b, and 2b [playing 26 games at 3rd, and 46 games at 2b the last 3 yrs]. He also hits better from the RH side [3 yr split of .317/.364/.457, including .365/.418/.577 in 03. His defense looks a little shaky though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I say we offer them Adkins and Borchard and see if they bite...
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) Yeah, that's exactly what I was getting at. I didn't really see a big turnout last year for Shingo. I know on the coasts, especially out west, Japanese players add to the attendance big time. I'd be curious to see some cencus stats. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I remember seeing quite a few Asians at the park during the height of Shingo mania... Maybe I was just imagining things again...
  7. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) The way the world acted to the plight of the Jews in Germany during the holocaust was shameful during the existence of the Third Reich. I took a course in Holocaust History in college, and it was the single most gut wrenching study I ever did. Not only did the Germans obviously have bloody hands, but other countries pre World War II generally supported the systemic oppression of Jewish people. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> None worse then then us in the United States. Boat loads of Jews came over seeking refuge from the Nazis and we just turned them around and told them to go back home. :headshake
  8. Like any good con men they need to realize that their dog and pony show is almost up and they need to take the money and run, or in Maggs case hobble.
  9. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) Timo is liked because he's clutch, has a team first approach to the game, and doesn't b**** or smoke cigs. Willie has some growing up to do. Despite his talent, he doesn't fit the mold as far as attitude we're striving to acheive. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Timo is also incredibly lazy and only tries when he wants to. I feel i'm the only one that remembers him at the beginning on the year not even attempting to run after balls he could of easily have caught. He started off lazy and it wasn't until about mid year he actually tried. At least we got better then that with Willie. Williw might not have the best attitude but I don't like players that half ass it for half the year either. At least with Willie it's because he thinks he's better then what he's doing now. He needs to get his head out of his ass and prove it.
  10. IMO this team would be much better with Willie off the bench then Timo. It would also give us more flexibility because he gives us a 2B and an OF. However Timo wouldn't be traded unless he got caught pissing in KW cereal and even then it's kind of iffy (because they love him so much for some damn reason). I'd much rather have Willie able to step in and become the new CF if and when Pods or Iguchi fails. Timo should be traded.... Sadly Harris will be traded...
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) The Tigers are set to offer Ordonez a 5-year, $70 million contract??? What the f*ck?!? http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...ts/10752346.htm <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My favorite part is where they get the get money offer and instead of taking the money and running like any good con does, they get even greedier and ask for two more years at similar dough...
  12. I think everyone knows my opinion on Rowand. He is the best pure talent the Sox have had in a long time and it's only a matter of time before he's an allstar. Not only that he busts his ass and that can only help him gain the respect of his fellow players.
  13. I agree. I think KW should offer him about the same 8 Mil a year he's making now. I don't see Pauly as the type of guy who's going to leave the team over a few million. Then again if the Yankees come sniffing around then you never know...
  14. IMO there are quite a few teams that I could see being interested in Willie. Not only as a second basemen but he could become a CF in the Lance Johnson, Kenny Lofton mold. There is too much talent there for some GM to not want to take a gamble on him. I think we can also add the Yankees as a team that could be interested in him. Lets face it he'll come cheap and he'd be one hell of an insurance policy incase Womack goes back to sucking. Worse case scenario he doesn't get any better and he ends up coming off the bench for them (and I doubt even Willie would be stupid enough to complain about that)
  15. This is such a shock... Seriously though every politician has someone in their pocket.
  16. I just hope we lives up to the hype. Just ask Jon Garland and Willie Harris what happens when you don't live up to Sox fans expectations right away. Hopefully he has some thick skin.
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks... I didn't realize she came on my account and posted this... I'll pass it along to her... She should of just joined Sox talk herself...
  18. The really sad part is at first they just treated it like the girl just ran away... I'm shocked that the story hasn't been picked up anywhere else considering how sick it was... (Unless it has and I don't know about it)
  19. http://www.wqad.com/global/Story.asp?s=2861855 At first she was just missing and they had posters and such. It was all over the local papers. Then they arrested her friend for murder and found her body... :headshake
  20. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) How did all you guys get into the Dolphins? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was born in South Flordia... I spent most of my childhood around the south suburbs of Chicago but my dad was a Dolphins fan so I guess I just picked up on it...
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 06:53 AM) Interesting read from the Southtown; <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I couldn't disagree with anything in the article. ...and he's completely right, if you don't yank him out of the lineup when he's hitting .330 and bench him for 5 straight games and then expect him to be an all star every other day when you finally decide to play him your nuts. Rowand didn't start to hit until he was left in the lineup for a few weeks and that was only because of a hitting streak (could you imagine where we'd be now if AROW happened to be an 0-4 that day. Timo would of gotten about another 100 at bats in CF :puke ) He's right. They either need to give him a fair chance to make the starting job or trade him. You can't blame a guy for being a little pissed when the organization has jerked him around so often.
  22. She likes all the ones on here, and would like one with a unicorn or mickey mouse and the name Kortney, purple if possible. She said please. Jeckle2000
  23. Southsider is the best admin in the history of the internet. I'm shocked Wino actually knows where my name come from. (My twin brother uses the screen name Heckle)
  24. My order: 1) White Sox - - - - - - - 2) Bulls - - - - 3) Dolphins - - - - - - - 4) Blackhawks
