The death penalty was made for people like this. This jackass deserves a needle in the arm. Better yet throw him in front of a train...

EA Sports loses bid for MLB licensing
AngelasDaddy0427 replied to CSF's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I just can't stand the fact that Madden has been a sub standard game for the last three years and rather then improve it they just bought the deal and put the superior game out of business... -
QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) Keep Harris for league minimum. Use him as a back up plan for Iguchi, a lefty off the bench, a pinch runner, and a backup centerfielder. Trade Timo for whatever prospect they could get and save the team 600,000. Bring in Larkin or another infielder capable of backing up Short. Willie has more upside than Timo. Unless there is a skeleton in Willie's closet that we are not aware of, that's what I'd do with him. I can't blame KW for signing Timo and Ben Davis at the time. He didn't know then that AJ and Iguchi would be on the team. Now, I think Willie and Burke are cheaper and more versatile alternatives. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This would make the most sense for the team. However your forgetting the intangible. The fact KW and Ozzie have a massive hardon for Timo and they think Willie is the second coming of Mike Caruso.

EA Sports loses bid for MLB licensing

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) I've always liked Sega, but I still want to play MVP for years to come. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> YES!!!! Take that EA! This is so great. Now we have a company that will work hard to improve the games. Not just get to a point where their alright and then not improve the games anymore or make them worse (I.E. Madden, NBA Live) I hate EA and one less game from them the better. -
QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) No need, but if Harris nets us another reliable arm, why not? We need a UIF regardless. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The problem is it leaves us with NO LONG MAN! Not to mention Marte being the only lefty. Like I said no thanks. Plus too much mystery surrounding his poor mom.

I just don't think we need any more pen arms. UIF or bust!

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Again, I am so sick of the lack of compromise on these things. Is it necc to know that sex offenders live in your hood? Yes. This can be obtained by a geographical plot giving a general location. Is it necc to be able to call your local police & get a list of those living in your hood? Yes. Provided you can show proof of residency in that hood you should be able to obtain such a list. But is it necc to put on public display for the whole world every person who has have been labeled a sex offender in the USA? No. There is no excuse for this scarlet letter attitude. As some of you have indicated the statute for what defines an SO varies from state to state. Yet that distinction is going to be easily lost in a public worldly display. According to Michigan 1000's of Cub fans are sex offenders. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I like being able to look up all the Sex Offenders in my town. Gives me a change to cross the street when I see them walking on the other side of it.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 07:10 AM) I would hate to see the grade Jeckle would give KW IF he traded the "Great" Garland this year too even if it were for an upgrade.... :banghead <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Had we traded him and Konerko for Jason Kendall and Kip Wells I would have loved that deal and supported it. Had he traded him for Randy Johnson and crippled the payroll and stopped making moves I think I would of vomited all over my keyboard. I have no problem with trading Garland and long as it's for fair value. If Kris Benson can garner all that value and not even be able to sniff Garlands jock talent wise then no way should we give him up for peanuts.

Tony G. is the best option. Larkin will never come here unless we gave him a starting job. IMO our best bet is just to make a trade and find one... Does anyone know of any out there besides Tony G?

Delgado is a Marlin

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) That's where he wanted to go. That's where he ended up. Good for him. Now, what do the Marlins do with salary? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm going to be really pissed if they turn around and trade Castillo. I really think he would have been better for this team then Iguchi. Ohh well... -
QUOTE(S720 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:10 AM) Jeckle, Are you saying Garland equals the value of Vazquez? If you do, you gotta be joking! Ask any team GM to choose between Garland and Vazquez, guess who would they select? You only see Vazquez's one bad year, and you've already thrown out the previous years when he pitched tremendously. If you think Garland is a sure thing, then Vazquez is A MUCH MORE SURE THING. With Buerhle, Garcia, Vazquez, Duque and Contreras, the Sox can be very competitive against any team. By the way, look for Contreras to be much better than what he's shown last year. Book it! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First off Garland is making 3.5 Mil, Vazquez is making over 12. Most GM's will take the 25 year old that hasn't even reached his prime yet. Vazquez hasn't proved he can pitch in the Cell. Garland has. Thats why he's a sure thing and Vazquez isn't. Hell he hasn't even proved he can pitch in the AL. Garland will give us 12 wins next year. Vazquez would get lit up in the Cell.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:02 AM) The problem being if El Duque or someone else goes down, who becomes the 5th starter? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ohh I don't know... Diaz is the better pitcher then Grilli in the first place... He's actually pitched a few decent games at the major league level... ...and he's' outpitched Grilli at AAA. No way in hell should Grilli ever even sniff another start or pen spot as long as Diaz continues to kick his ass in AAA.

QUOTE(S720 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 07:50 AM) Now that Kenny has fabulously accomplished his goal and done with this offseason, I kind of feel a little bit sad. There is no more waiting in ancitipation, excitement and anxiety! Now is just painfully watching time and time and time to go by until Spring Training. When does Spring Training begin? Hell Kenny, make one more move just for the sake of more excitement. Ask JR to increase payroll to 80 mils, then trade Garland, Willie Harris and a prospect to Arizona for Vazquez . This will close this offseason PERFECTLY! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So you want to give up a sure thing in Garland for a maybe in Vazquez. Glad your not the GM... Contreas for Vazquez and now your talking...

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) Jesus Christ. :headshake :headshake :headshake You do realize Timo had 8 assists and 4 DP's in only 615 innings last season don't you? Jeckle, your insane bias towards Garland and Harris is really getting creepy and annoying. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can throw all the numbers at me you want to. The fact is that he has no range. He has the ugliest fielding style in the MLB. Second he had those stats in RF mostly... not CF... my statement was that Willie was a better CF then Timo, not RF. IMO Willie can only get better then longer they put him out there. However Timo isn't going to suddenly develop range. I don't have a Bias towards Harris or Garland. Forgive me if I don't see how Garland sucks so bad. I mean if he keeps up and this 12 win pace by the time he's a free agent somebody is going to offer him a Kris Benson like deal. I don't see how 3.5 Mil is so bad compared to what other pitchers are getting. As for Harris yes I thought he would have been a solid starting 2B, however now that he's not i'd rather see him traded for a UIF. I would want Perez traded instead but it would never happen.
-
QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) but not for the money we want to give that UIF...but how much does valentin make now?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> More then we gave Iguchi I know that...

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) It's ironic, but the perfect guy to be our utility IF ..... a veteran that can play 2B, SS and 3B and hits LH ....is Jose Valentin. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's always June...

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) Is it just me or does willie look lost in the outfield? He cannot get reads on a ball to save his life. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ...and he still plays a better CF then Timo... Seriously though Willie would learn the position the more he's out there. Timo isn't going to suddenly develop range. I'm in the trade Willie crowd only because although I'd rather see Timo be the one gone I doubt KW would trade him.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) You have to admit, .262/.343/.323, cheap w/ good defense at 2B looks better than .246/.285/.338, $1M w/ poor range and a plus arm in the outfield. One is almost universally loathed, and looks to be done with this team, the other is a beloved mascot of ineptitude. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not to mention Willie plays a much better CF and even LF. But Timo did hit that clutch HR.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Scary thing is ::cracks out the way back machine:: that when the Texas legislature was criminalizing sodomy, during the same legislative session they legalized beastiality. Bruce Levine discusses Iguchi and Willie
AngelasDaddy0427 replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) According to Bruce Levine of ESPN 1000, the White Sox had no personal contact with Iguchi. They used the MLB service I-Scout, which includes Japanese game film, to scout Iguchi. They also discussed Iguchi with Shingo and Shingo had some great words for him. Levine also said that he thinks Willie Harris' tenure with the White Sox is in jeopardy. He thinks Iguchi is our full-time starter at 2B in 2005. Another words, Willie will be traded. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> IMO it would be incredibly stupid for the Sox to keep Willie at this point. Name some UIF who might be had for Willie? Can anything think of any? -
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) How did I know Jeckle was going to pissed off about Willie losing playing time? :rolly I'd bet you would lower his grade even more if next week he traded Garland for a better starting pitcher. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you read what I said... I lowered his grade because he hasn't gotten rid of Willie fast enough. Like I've been saying for the last two weeks he hurts us on the bench because he has no versatility. I want him gone ASAP now that a replacement has been brought in.
-
You guys might disagree but I say if he matches Willie's numbers from last season we should consider ourselves lucky. However I think he will be more spread out about it.
