QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) Just me and the wife, can't speak for the other guy. Hey, what happened to quickman? Sox winning the world series to much for him?
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) They wouldn't give him one. But if he wasn't traded the first 3 years of the contract, he would have an automatic one, just like the Big Hurt has had the last 4 seasons. His agent is gonna be pushing hard for that no trade clause... thus the problem.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Thank you! I can't see why everybody has such a woody for this guy. And in my opinion...there's NO WAY the DBack part with Tracy...NONE! Their infield soon will look like Tracy at 3rd, Drew at SS, Cintron at 2nd and Conner Jackson at 1B. But their pitching pretty much sucks. Cintron should be traded out of there... by widger, he sucks.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) I don't think there is a chance that he goes to the Mets. Well they have the whole ''we sign guys to bad contracts and like it that way mentality''... they have that going for them.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) If Konerko signed back with the White Sox, he would only need a no trade for the first 3 years. After that he would be a 5 and 10 man and he would have the right to refuse a trade anyway. How many no trade clauses have the sox offered in their history? Just doesn't happen.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) No way will a team give PK both a 7 yr deal AND a no-trade clause. The sox would be the one team to probably offer him a no-trade clause. IMO, the sox would be in good shape offering a 5 yr deal w/ a no-trade clause. I'd be interested to see if Vlad got a no-trade clause in his deal with LAA. If Vlad doesn't have one, Pk sure wouldn't get one. The sox will definitely not offer konerko a trade clause either will the red sox. If the red sox signed konerko with a no trade clause other players on the red sox will get full and partial no trade clauses... it is already in some contracts that it kicks in. Red sox are out of the hunt for konerko and were never players for him in my opnion anyway.

Giles is not coming to the sox and will not leave the west coast in all likelyhood. Huff is on a drastic three year decline in his prime...? Thome will be traded but it is such a huge risk. It will be huge in terms of the prospect (s) we give up for him... not so much the money. Teixiera is simply not realistic. Dunn does not suck suck... but i can see where people are coming fromw hen they say they do not want him. Overbay is overated on this board immensely... rather annoying actually. I know the diamonbacks have a log jam at first and third but tracy is far and away their best hitter for the money. I see them trying to trade basically everyone and anyone else on that team before him. Delgado will not be traded imo. How many players that sign long term deals are traded after their first full season with a team? That is gonna be an awfully short list. They are not in as big of a bine that it is made out to be so i don't think it is needed for him to be moved.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:32 AM) Because of his chronic injuries like his hip condition, IIRC. I wouldn't care if he was 27 and no injuries. Six and seven year deals do not go smooth in any sport. Teams always end up trying to get out of the contract by trading them and can either not get value close to what they are worth or are not able to trade them because of stupid no trade clauses. Five year deals should be the max in any sport imo Just so many different things can go wrong.... to many risks for my liking. I think it would come back to bite the sox in the ass ( personally i doubt the sox will offer more than five years and i am sure the fifth year is more than they would like). Four year with a fifth year option is probally more what the sox are thinking going by past signings and resignings. If you cannot recall i hated the beltran signing for seven years too. I mean this contract is ridiculous and i am bet konerko will have/want some of these little quirks.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 03:53 AM) No suprise there with Konerko. If a team is willing to do that long of a deal, they'll probably get him. I know, but it just amazes that people here are still saying give him whatever he wants when it will cripple us in the future.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:47 AM) Now Qwerty you have to admit they actually called traveling this game very well.... its definitely improving..... And I know part of it was that there was no star power on either team but I didnt see any real ticky tack fouls which is a plus. Foul they called crawford for was ticky tack. Dumb on his part... but he shouldn't have been near him to foul him. He is not blocking anyone. One game is not gonna change my opinion about the nba's officiating.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) I saw that on Crumb book on Amazon, it looks good. Thanks for the review. Kitchen Sink repronted his Legends of the Blues trading card set last year, and supposedly they are also doing/have done the jazz and country sets as well. 11 bucks for reprinted sets beats the heck out of a hundred dollars or so for the originals unless you are a serious collector. I suppose you've seen the movie Crumb by Terry Zwigoff? Really gives you a good look at how warped the guy is. I suggested to my wife we watch that and American Splendor as a double feature one night, but she didn't go for it. My kinda person. f***ed up people ( like crumb) have always intrigued me and gets me to want to learn as much possible about them. The one word i hate being throw around with him throw is racist. He is basically everything and anything else... but not racist. He has alot of respect for black people and was basically just writing about how things were at the time he was growing up. He even mentions it in the book i suggested. What i find weird is that he never mentions pekar in ''crumb'' but r crumb gets a mention in american splendor? They were supposedly good friends for a long time and stilla re to this day. He also hated ''crumb'' and hated the fritz the cat movie. He even sued to get his name removed fromt he credits... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068612/trivia Believe it or not... it's not every day you find someone that either knows or likes crumb.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) Natural-ly. I suggest getting this from the library... they should have it there. Pretty interesting autobiography. Includes his upbringing, inspirations, friends he met along the way, early going with his comics, childhood, addictions, etc.

Any r crumb fans here?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) He lived through it. It was a good game. Fair enough.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) Ya qwerty...I'm dissapointed, I saw no man love for you man crush Pike. What a 4th quarter he had. Sports illustrated has him on their dream team coming off the bench ( it is a realistic team not super star packed).

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) Losing to the Celtics = LOL. That is like losing to the Magic. Right Dbaho? I see no reason why curry doesn't average 12 rebounds a game this year. He will have alot of rebound opportunities with all those low percentage shooters on the knicks.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) Eddy Curry had a good game (19 points, 8 rebounds) but the Knicks still lost to the Celtics. 40% shooting, 50% free throws, and only 8 rebounds in 42 minutes ( seems like that could be the most minutes played in a game in his career). It was a decent game i suppose.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) ^^^^^^^. You beat the Bobcats in OT. I wouldn't be getting too excited. You would say that.

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) Does anybody think the Bulls can take the division this year. LOLOLOLOLOL.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) There coach is a freaking moron. Rush jacked up dumb shot after dumb shot (including a piss poor 3 in the 4th quarter with about 2 minutes to go and about 20 seconds left on the shot clock). Just totally awful selection by Rush and something I wouldn't tolerate as a head coach. Yet Bickerstaff kept him out there, which shocked me. Bulls first opening night win since 1995 and the last time the bulls opened the season with a win against charlotte they went on to win 72 games. Sign of things to come...?

Gordon looked great out there tonight. No one was burning him and he was right up in player's faces. He made a s*** load of nice passes ( not many assists tonight but duhon took care of that). He also played fourty minutes with one turnover... sign of goods things to come i am hoping. Only downfall was his shooting which has been off since the last month of the regular season and carried over to the pre-season.
-
Duhon with 17-10-12 and one turnover.

Songo has very good hands... good vision for a big guy. Nice job by him passing up that shot for the easy two points to chandler. His first three point make couldn't have come at a better time.
