  1. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) maybe then we may get a dionarr (msp) Navarro out of the deal No chance in hell of that happening.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) Here's something I can see -- Cora drew 10 intentional walk last year beacuse he was batting in the #8 hole ahead of such offensive powerhouses as Jeff Weaver and Odalis Perez. Cora's (non-intentional)walk rate was 47 in 484 plate appearences, or 1 every 10.3 PAs Harris' (non-intentional)walk rate was 51 in 472 plate appearences, or 1 every 9.25 PAs But he is not patient when he is not hitting. Therefore, he is worse than cora. :headshake
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) Idiots. I was the one who asked them about the Ben Davis to the Dodgers rumor, and they responded by talking about great it would be to trade Ben for Alex Cora. HE WAS NON-TENDERED!!!!!!! They blow.
  4. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) Yes he was, he was signed yesterday Yes, i realized this by now. Some how i missed it.
  5. Is this the first time soxtalk has ever been mentioned?
  6. QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:53 PM) I have sigs turned OFF because, while they may be signs of individuality, from your sigs, I'd rather not know quite a few of you as individuals Actually, two of the reasons I turned off sigs and avatars is that (1) a couple of people had politically-charged avatars or sigs that I didn't like (this is a SOX board), and I didn't want their political beliefs getting in the way of how I responded to posts (and to tell you the truth, I can't even remember who was what now, which was the point); and (2) DonkeyKongerko's sig mesmerized me a little too much. For some reason I just watch that chick doing her dance over and over...it's a little weird. His avatar is a good reson for me to never turn off the sigs/avatars.
  7. QUOTE(LDF @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) and why not? He was never very good in the first place. He would just be a waste of a roster space. Might as well let reiner get the playing time.
  8. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) no kidding he will break the story tommorrow that Cora signed with the indians. ... and he will think he was the first to report it.
  9. QUOTE(babybearhater @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) Back-up point guard??? uh....he is the starting point, both Kirk and Ben play the 2. Yes, he is starting for us. But realistically he is not a starter.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) Levine is screwed up a little tonight. A caller asked about Alex Cora, and Levine said the Dodgers may let him go. They already did. He also said he was a possiblility for the Sox, but hasn't he agreed to go to Cleveland? He seems to be slow on these things quite a bit.
  11. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) He killed us that one series. If i'm KW I make him an offer. I think if nothing else he's a decent backup. Like dorf said, he signed fukuoka softbank fawks.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) are you sure? http://www.canada.com/sports/baseball/stor...21-02f84883473f and that was as of 1-12-05 Damn, cannot believe i missed that big news. I still think he would have been a very solid pick-up. He can play a s*** load of positions fairly well. Edit: Pretty weird that rotoworld missed that one. They usually are on top of these things, like when a player goes to japan.
  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) Wasn't he already sold to Japan? No.
  14. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) There are a few sigs that stretch out board horizontally. Qwerty's, YASNY's, and Flasoxjim's just to name a few. Does it do that to everyone or just you? Because no sig on here stretches it out for me.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) We've been talking about some ways to make things a little neater on the board and an idea a lot of us came up with is restricting the size of sigs. I'm not talking about making them miniture, but allowing it where the height can only be so much. I'd say 99% of all sigs would fit in the height requirements. The overall opinion is that this will make it a lot easier to scroll through threads and keep things neater. I also have adjusted it where the Soxtalk Awards don't appear on the left hand side, so that will shorten up the empty space that was showing up for those posters. Anyway just wanted to see what everyone would think about something like this. Early today i took out the big quote and added a couple others. I think it would be a fine idea. Sure cannot hurt any. The digs do not affect my load time by i can understand that it does for some people.
  16. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketba...7p-231860c.html This is very good news.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) I believe they just signed him to a long term deal, I think they want to keep him around. Yes, he is basically their face of the franchise.
  18. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) i hope so, i heard crawford may be out for that game which will help, but we need to stop the knicks and their outside shooting, and nazr mohammed Supposedly he is out both of the games we have against them back to back. Which is perfectly fine by me.
  19. In rotoleagues pujols is taken first like 91% of the time. Something ridiculous like that.
  20. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) You got to be kidding me Aj. Me and WHarris1 can tell you ourselves that AI was ownin Gordon esp. early in the quarters. (Iverson had some mean crossovers on Gordon, he just couldn't be stopped early then sucked it up around the 3rd quarter.) But like Mike said, AI does it every night on a nightly basis. I was very happy of Gordon somewhat containing him and this is a rookie. He'll be a fine defender in a couple years. Early on, yes. Whole game? No. More like the first quarter. Hinrich on the other hand...
  21. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) You are grossly underestmating the value of Davis. He simply has not had enough regular ab's in the ML's to consider a bust yet. I liken his value to that of Jiminez' when the Sox got him. As a prospect he was highly rated. But in limited capacity he didn't get it done. Now with regular ab's at CIN he's an everyday player. Davis is worth at least what we gave up to get Jiminez at the time. Will six or seven years of at-bats convince you? I doubt it.
