QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) i would definately want Soriano. He is far and away one of the best 2B in the league. That's why the Yanks would want him over anybody. He's a superstar 2B. He would be a great leadoff hitter and a better #2 hitter. Give me some reasons why he would be a great lead-off hitter and a betetr 2 hole hitter please?

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Look it up! Batting #1 he had a 907 OPS. His 3yr avg is 874 OPS. I am saying overall. In any season of his career he has never had an ops over .900. I am not just talking about his ops in the lead-off spot. What does it matetr if he cannot get on base?

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Brewers have their first baseman. His name is Lyle Overbay and they traded a lot to get him. They did not trade alot to get him. They raped arizona in the sexson trade.

Richardson is out. I saw it on three different news channels and heard it on the radio.

QUOTE(C_LEE45 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Astros and rangers are talking about a trade that would send Soriano for Badke and Burke,a Great deal for Houston so my question is why wouldnt kenny be looking to trade for Soriano ?And if the reason is the money, then i would trade for soriano and then trade konerko. Gload That is not a great deal for houston, not at all.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) EXACTLY! They have erectile commercials on FOX, but Randy moss mimes pulling down his pants, and thats a big deal. People just look for reasons to b**** out Moss. Man when i first heard that commercial during the super bow last year i was cracking up.

QUOTE(Scwible @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) Theres talk of the ball getting rolling on an Eddy Curry contract extension. Anyways though, go Bulls. 4 in a row here we come. Hopefully be back from work to catch most of the second half. Ya, he will be signed to a nearly max contract which is too much for him in my opinion. But i guess you have to do what you have to do.

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) 24 years old is awfully old for High-A. Then again, he was pretty effectively blocked by Prince Fielder at 1B. Here's BA's stats page for the Brewers farm system. He doesn't walk too much (48 BB vs. 536 AB) but then again doesn't walk too little. .302/.367/.502 was his line, which is good for a 21 yr old first baseman in the California league, but not so great for a 24 year old. 19 errors at 1B - !!! He never hit above .277 before in the minors...maybe he is blossoming. Here's his prior performance. I have heard brewers fans say if he was not in a farm system with so many first baseman that he has a good shot of making it to the majors. Maybe they were just overating him?

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) As a leadoff hitter he posted a 907 OPS. Up 30 pts over his career avg of 874 OPS. 2002-04 avg's: Apr .354A, .399O, .565S May .253A, ..296O, .490S Jun .307A, .341O, .494S Jul .257A, .293O, .511S Aug .275A, .317O, .504S Sep .301A, .348O, .556S Soriano has proven over the last 3 yr's he can be a very effective leadoff-hitter. But with his power it's a waste to use him as such. He is more suited as #2, #3. I do not care what his ops is since you think he can be lead-off hitter. He has s***ty obp for a lead-off hitter, .324 life time. He has good power but i mean come on he has never had an ops over .900.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) Let's look at the facts shall we? As a prospect BD was heralded as the next J Bench. His stock was much higher than that of AJ's. Athletically he possesses more talent than Bench did. He has speed, power, & quickness w the bat. He has a strong arm & was at one time considered one of the best defensive C prospects in all of the ml's. Now BD has not been given the chance to play everyday but he did have considerable success in the ml's. Athletically he is superior to AJ in every way. He has not been given the opportunity to prove what kind of hitter he could be. He hit in ml's. Then struggled with Seattle & did better after moving on to the CWS. So I do not think it is impossible for BD to post a better OPS, & CERA in ST than AJ. Nor do I think it's impossible that in doing so he might impress Ozzie enough to win the starting role. Now you obvious think it's impossible so it would be best just to agree to disagree. But I will say this much. I would prefer an average hitting BD over a good hitting AJ. BD's speed will equal more runs than AJ's strength. Provided that BD can hit reasonably well to get on base. Are you related to ben davis?

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) He takes care of power & leadoff in one move. Soriano is not a lead-off hitter. You are acting like he is great but a career .820 ops? .498 slugging? .324 obp? :puke Defense is mediocore at best. To me at least he is not a super star or a player to build around.
-
Jugger, there have been enough rumors suggesting that they were looking to trade him. I am also postive there were talks about reyes for soriano but the mets backed off. So we are gonna have to agree to disagree.

Steroids i tell ya will do the trick.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Here is a thought although you will all hate it. Its pure speculation and proably will not come true. What if we were interested in bynes to take rowands place. We send garland and rowand to AZ for vazquez. AZ was rumored to want Rowand and Garland before during the Johnson three way. Just a thought. Not liking it but it makes sense. AZ wants Rowand, we have not signed him, and I bet he is holding out for more money. We must far apart money wise or this thing would have gotten done. Just something to think about. You are right, i do hate it. That is too much for the type of numbers vazquez would most likely put up here.

QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) The Blue Jays and Billy Koch reportedly have agreed to terms on a minor league contract. Hope they have fun with that. All he needs to do is start taking steroids again and he should become his old self.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) No we had an older version of that in Jose, I am going with jeckle on this.. Uribe, had one good year, and they sign him long term .. but only after KW failed to ink Omar Vizquel. As if KW needed to make Uribe happy. Rowand is one of the few that have come up through our system that is going to be a stud, you have to pay the man. to answer the question at hand.. Rowand hands down, home grown stud... He did not really fail to ''ink'' him. But whatever makes you happy.

Arizona is quickly becoming one of the worst mlb teams in the major ( stupidity wise).

QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Yeah, pretty brutal http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/white_noise/ I have seen a couple better reviews before.

Saw this on bbb.net. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...ack=2&cset=true I am not the biggest fan of his but centers are not very easy to come by. Especially when he is one of the best in the east.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Where did you real that? I've read they've been trying to sign him to a multi-year deal ever since he arrived. I have read it numerous places. If you do not believe me i am sure others can confirm that. There was supposedly a deal on the table reyes for soriano but then the mets dropped out.
-
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) Why is Soriano's name keep coming up? Maybe because they have wanted to deal him ever since he got there.

QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) Easyw, I like what you said about Aj grounding into alot of double plays. Between him and Konerko that is going to be alot of them. I see why you have alot of concerns, but you gotta admit, he is a big step up from Ben Davis. People need to realize that it is hard to stay out of them when you have someone getting on so much ( bonds). He was never one to ground into alot of double plays before last year with the giants.
