It will take alot to get him i feel since sele is a free agent and ramon ortiz wants nothing to do with the angels. He has been demanding to be traded for a while now.
While he is 29 and very earlier on in his major league career he seems to be damn good. Here are his career stats..
Innings pitched-309.2
Hits against-273
Home runs allowed-22
k/9- 7.38
17-11 in his career.
.236 baa.
Whip-1.22
Era-2.85.
It is an amazing difference from last year. Last year he gave up more hits than innings pitched, walked 77 in only 126 and 2/3 innings while posting a 5.47 era.
I find it hard to beleive they would deal shields for a player that only has one year on his contract. They are also not exactly loaded with good starters which he will be again next year.
Won't davanon be filling in for guillen next year since it is likely he will be dealt? Also thought this pretty weird.
This year against he has hit .136 against lefties.
Last year he hit .342 against lefties last year.
That makes alot of sense, probally the way it should happen if we do happen to get vizquel. Then we would have a very solid lead-off and 2 hole hitter.
Wow eight pages for the uribe trade, alot more than i would have thought. Anyways people seem have either not liked it, liked it, or just didn't care about it really. Pretty evenly spilt in it seems.
Would you start willie at second uribe at third and vizquel at short. Or uribe at second crede at third and vizquel at short. Lastly would you just platoon willie and uribe while crede is at third a vizquel at short?
In my last post i basically retracted that any improvement at second base would not be needed if they only got a lead-off or two hole hitter so that willie could slide down into the 9 hole.
One year of willie is enough for me. Seems like we know what he can do already. Can't bunt and seems to scared to stealand not agressive enough on the base paths. He gets really hot for 3-4 games and then slump for the next ten. I don't dislike willie harris but i don't like the fact he was suppose to be our lead-off hitter to begin the year. Kw really needed to find a lead-off or number two hitter so that willie could be batting 9th.
You are telling me that you thought willie would be able to put up numbers as good if not better than belliards career numbers before this year. Because i know i sure didn't and i know plenty of people felt the same way. Last year and the year before willie looked totally over matched. I didn't see any reasons to believe he would be the same or better than belliard this year.
That is exactly what i have heard the o's want to do. Package hairston and julio together to get someone pretty good. Hairston has played 15 games in center and that is where he broke it while making a leaping catch at the wall.
There are rumors out there that julio will be traded this year and then ryan will slide into the closers role. I have never liked urbina closing, always thought he was an excellent set-up man though. While marte has closed in the past he is very not good at it.
