  1. How the hell do you get dominated inside by Duke? Is Purdue really THAT weak inside?
  2. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) Please, two of those teams are 1-AA, with a 1-11 C-USA team. I understand it's not their fault that Tulsa backed out, but it was still a s***ty non conference schedule. If you are going to do that, you have to count out Texas as well. Fla. Atlantic, UTEP, Rice, and Arkansas. Only Rice is even above .500 from that group, and their marquee win is over Houston or Memphis. TTU at least played at Nevada, a 7-5 bowl eligable #5 ranked offense team. Texas' only road game was at UTEP, a team that lost to 3-9 New Mexico State.
  3. That's the best top 4 prospects I can remember us having.
  4. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) IMO even if Tech barely lost it would be tough to put them in the discussion, one reason being there non conference schedule (Eastern Washington, at Nevada, SMU, Massachusetts). Plus they didn't play Mizzou. Not really sure how that works. Nevada had the #5 offense in the nation, and 3 of those 4 OOC teams have at least 6 wins this year. Overall Tech has beaten 7 teams with 6 or more wins on the year. It's not like Tech chose to play two 1-AA teams, Tulsa backed out right before the season started, so Tech had nobody to replace them with. 11-1 with wins over 7 teams with 6 or more wins, and the only loss was at the #2 team in the nation after playing @Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma State, and @Oklahoma. How come nobody is talking about that brutal 4 game stretch that ended in OU?
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 08:30 PM) I have a big problem with the BCS being the tiebreaker because it's based on the polls and computers, which both take out of conference results/opponents into account obviously as they are included in the full body of work, and that has NOTHING to do with a conference season or who should be a conference champion. I think he was just saying it's the Big 12's fault for having the BCS as a tiebreaker. Which is true, but I'm not sure what else they could do. I WISH they would use the graduation rates as a tiebreaker, that would make the most sense. But alas... As for Utah not being worthy, I have to disagree there. Utah destroyed BYU, beat TCU, and beat Oregon State. They are better than any ACC or Big East team this year. I think they are in the proper place ranking wise this year, somewhere around 7-10.
  6. QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 30, 2008 -> 08:39 PM) yeah Texas got a raw deal.. gimme a break I feel like everyone is taking crazy pills TEXAS TECH BEAT TEXAS.. why the hell isn't there an outcry that Tech should be in front of Texas?????? You know why Oklahoma finished ahead of Texas? Because they beat #11 TCU and #13 Cincinnati non conference while Texas was beating up on Rice, Arkansas, Florida Atlantic, and UTEP The computers got it right, the point of the BCS is to put the best overall teams in order based on more things than just "Oh well we beat them, so we should be ahead of them".. Oklahomas 11-1 season was just more impressive than Texas' 11-1 season and THATS why they are the Big 12 South champs and playing next Saturday As much as I don't like Mack Brown. That argument is just flawed. OOC schedule shouldn't have ANY bearing on a conference champion. Texas played a tougher conference schedule this year and beat OU head to head. It's silly that OU got the nod in the end, but I'm enjoyin watching UT fans b**** and moan.
  7. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Nov 30, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) Don't like the way it was decided, but no complaints with the team going. You don't like other conferences determining the Big 12 South winner? I can't imagine why.
  8. QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 30, 2008 -> 02:54 AM) And finally, I wouldn't say that Texas Tech beat Texas with a miracle play.. they were in field goal range and I believe it was only like 42 yard FG.. for some reason they chose to keep throwing instead of kick it, and that's why it seemed like a miracle play. If Leech wasn't such an oddball coach, anyone else would have kicked the FG and the story would of been how Texas got beat.. that didn't happen, and now the only thing that comes out of Texas supporters mouths is "We lost on the last play of the game with 1 second left" Like that's suppose to justify the loss and make it look like a fluke which is far from it. Texas Tech virtually owned that entire game until 2 mins left in the game. And even then, they still went right down the field and scored to win. Texas Tech was only down for 1:30 of the entire game. Tech outgained Texas by 205 yards 579 to 374. Texas was lucky to even be in the game. Tech also doesn't get the luxury of playing OU or UT on a neutral field every year.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 30, 2008 -> 12:16 AM) Well, Kirk Ferentz is one of the most principled (and loved by most Hawkeye fans) and respected coaches in the college game today and look at the off-field problems that have developed over the last 18 months. Even Ferentz was accused of helping to facilitate a cover-up in a campus rape case. When you have so many huge egos, so many boosters with huge egos that want to get close to the program...you just can't control and monitor every single thing each player does 24 hours per day (well, the Internet now can do that, with all the digicams and cell phone cameras out there). Look at all the things that have gone down with the PSU football program over the past five years, is Paterno now a "corrupt" coach? I don't think so. It's just symptomatic of the times we live in. Bomar made a mistake, obviously, but there's a big leap to "lack of institutional" control compared to when Buster Rhymes was running around with an Uzi or AK-47 on campus...or the Brian Bosworth years. An innocent mistake such as "oops, my player got caught with a stripper", I can understand. An innocent mistake such as "oops two of my players got paid between 5K-7K extra for working at a car dealership" is beyond hard to take. Here is a quote from the report about the incident, The university report states that Big Red did not maintain consistent, up-to-date records on vehicles, financing and sales and that "the employment records maintained and provided by Big Red for temporary summer employment were also at times incomplete or in conflict with other records they maintained on the same employee." Nice little racket OU has going on, best part is that OU will continue to have players "working" there.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 29, 2008 -> 11:07 PM) Are you referring to Oklahoma or Alabama here? I'm confused. Say what you want about OU's past under Switzer or Kelvin Sampson, Stoops is regarded as a highly ethical (if not overcontrolling) head coach. OU. Those ethics apparently went out the window with the paid players "working" at the car dealership.
  11. Sometimes life just sucks. Tech 11-1, ranked in the top 7, won't be in a BCS game. A program built on cheating is going to be playing for the national title game. Joy.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 29, 2008 -> 07:33 PM) If it comes down to fans voting for Texas over OU because TT came out today flat and uninspired, knowing their route to the B12 championship was only about a 10-25% chance after being #1 in the country and controlling their own destiny...then there's something seriously wrong with the system. The system is ridiculous. Take the common opponent of the 3, Kansas. Or take the graduation rates of the programs. Don't let other conferences determine your conference champion, just retarded.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 29, 2008 -> 04:28 PM) Baylor smacking Texas Tech around. Texas Tech finally got over the OU loss in the 2nd half and held Baylor scoreless. Go Oklahoma State.
  14. Notre Dame vs. UNC tonight. Should be a good one. Outside of the Hansbrough vs. Harangody battle, you have a couple of set of brothers on each side. Too bad Ben Hansbrough and Tyler Zeller won't be able to play though.
  15. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) I hope the chances of this signing are......remote. That is the best commercial ever. That is all.
  16. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) Florida is the best team in college football right now. Hands down. As much as I hate saying it b/c I hate Florida more than any other team in any sport, it's true. They are peaking at the right time. Sure, they could lose to Alabama in the SEC Championship game, just as any team can lose any given saturday. But, Florida is ridiculous right now. You guys hired Brian Kelly yet?
  17. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) Psh, ACC sucks lol. Either way, crappy Orange Bowl ensues. Man, the Coastal is beyond bad this year. It's painful watching ACC games now, as you know.
  18. Ok, TTU in the championship, this is how... FSU beats Florida USC loses to Notre Dame Texas loses to A&M Oklahoma loses to Oklahoma State Then Texas Tech beats Mizzou in the Big 12 title game Florida beats Bama in the SEC title game Hey, it can happen.
  19. What would be really interesting is if OU loses to OSU, and Texas Tech beats Mizzou in the Big 12 championship. You could actually see Texas, a team that didn't win the Big 12, and lost to Texas Tech, playing for the national title. Gotta love the rankings.
  20. Texas Tech didn't just sneak by Texas, they let them back into the game with some mistakes. TTU put up about 200 more yards in the game than Texas and dominated most facets of the game. Winning on the road is tough enough for anyone inside the Big 12 South. OU will have their hands full next week.
  21. OU is going to have a hell of a time winning in Sillwater next week. Playing on the road is ridiculous in the Big 12 South this year.
