  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) Do you really think that teams aren't interested in Danks and Floyd? You're better than that Marty. Probably just means that other teams are more interested in Lillibridge right now cause he'd require less in return. More likely they are more interested in Gonzalez.
  2. I'm happy he's gone at that price. He could not get tough hitting lineups out any longer.
  3. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) This is sad LOL Date: Team: Pos: Brent Lillibridge - OF - White Sox Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the White Sox player drawing the most trade interest from other teams has been Brent Lillibridge. The Sox were supposed to be one of the most active teams at the Winter Meetings, but the only move they've made to this point has been to trade Sergio Santos. They've put John Danks, Gavin Floyd and Carlos Quentin on the block, but so far nothing has been close to materializing. Lillibridge was a nice utility player for the Sox in 2011 but wouldn't bring back much in a trade. Source: FOXSports.com Dec 7 - 5:25 PM Sad, but it's another sign of the incompetence of our GM. Where are all the people on this board who said there will be a market for guys like Thornton, Quentin, Danks, and Floyd this offseason?
  4. Wicked slider. Results never quite matched his stuff.
  5. I've seen scouting reports that have Molina's ceiling as a top-of-the-rotation starter. It's a fair return for Santos who is no sure thing for 2012. I think there's a good chance Santos ERA is over 4 next year.
  6. @masnRoch Duquette met twice with #whitesox regarding Floyd and Danks. Talked to #twins about Slowey
  7. After seeing a fair but not spectacular return for Santos, the more I think about it the more I'd like to see Viciedo shopped in an effort to bolster the rotation.
  8. 2013 rotation takes a nice step forward. If they can get a very good return for Danks and Floyd I don't see why Buehrle could not be slotted in at #3 ahead of Molina. 1) Sale 2) Humber 3) Molina
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) Marty wins? I just logged back on. Holy s***. Thanks for the props J4L. i don't always agree with you, but you're a solid guy. As far as the return for Santos, I think it's fair, not great or terrible. For those that did not like the return for Santos, you better close your eyes because I don't think it will get better than Molina unless they deal Viciedo.
  10. QUOTE (spiderman @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) The only they compete is if Dunn returns to a 30HR+ player and Vicedio replaces Quentin's production. That offense would have to be very good to hold up a pitching staff that looks like that. I'd say that this would be a 75 win team. I'd rather get younger than see that team. As you said, 75 wins.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) I'm hopefuly that we trade as many people as possble, in an effort to get younger. I'm ready to see a lot of new faces come spring. Yep. Last year was awful and without any kind of hope. Aside from Sale, there isn't one player on this team that I'd be apprehensive to deal. Deal anyone with value. Danks, Floyd, Thornton, Quentin, Ramirez, and Santos would be where I'd start.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) I agree. It would actually make me happy for him if the Cardinals could somehow swing it, but it's not going to happen. You look back at last year and the Sox kind of did him a solid by going with the 6-man rotation and sort of managing his starts to keep him away from the better offenses as best they could.
  13. I actually think him wanting to go to the NL is a factor in all this.
  14. Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Sources: #Rangers, #Nationals, #Marlins most aggressive on Buehrle. Nats prefer shorter deal on Buehrle to longer one with Wilson. #MLB
  15. Rosenthal Q & A with KW As usual, not tipping hand. Most interesting quote from him:
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 11:31 AM) Can't blame Buehrle for wanting a no-trade. Hell, if these teams knew anything about him, they shouldn't even approach him without knowing a no-trade is a must. I'm sticking with Washington as his next team. I'll be surprised if the Sox don't match a 3-year offer.
  17. QUOTE (spiderman @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 10:37 AM) I'm not a big fan of Beckham, but what's the point in moving him now? His value can't be very high around the league. If I'm Williams, I keep him (unless somebody else just completely gets stupid in their compsenation offer for him) and make him earn his job in spring training, whether that's competition from one of the players acquired from Florida or maybe Brent Lillibridge, who I know may not be as good defensively as Beckham was, and was incredibly valuable in a utility role last season, but is not somebody I want to keep in that role at the expense of Beckham's struggles at the plate. Agreed on Beckham. If this is a real rebuild, deal Ramirez and put Lillibridge at short.
  18. cst_Cowley @cst_Cowley cst_Cowley Just heard the latest on the Buehrle front from a source. Three teams have the money and the three years on the table. @cst_Cowley cst_Cowley As I reported Thursday, Buehrle wants a no-trade, and that is still yet to be met. Two of the teams are close to changing that stance.
  19. Yankees interested in SP not signed beyond 2013 because of 2014 luxury tax, need a lefty in pen. Danks and Thornton mentioned. Blue Jays have been looking at Beckham. Link
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) Yes it is, I have no problems with transactions not working out if the decision was logical. That happens Dunn was part of a failed strategy by Williams.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 09:21 PM) If I see one more person complain about signing Dunn with 20/20 hindsight, they should stop posting. Though I think Randy hated it from the start, so he's the exception. it's not fair to give Williams a pass on it.
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) "Blue collar" fans are what the Sox have traditionally sided with, yet they seem to be alienating them with their pricing. How many more people would attend games if the upper deck tickets dropped by $10-15 each? One thing I know for certain about the White Sox. They know far better than anyone else how to price their product for maximum revenue.
  23. Suggestion for the mods, how about a stuck thread for tweets/latest news regarding the Sox for during the winter meetings? Just posts of news/rumors, no comments on it. A place where we can take a quick peak at the latest goings on. By all accounts it should be a crazy week.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 06:16 AM) I can say with confidence that I'll buy myself an authentic Juan Pierre jersey before Texas makes that deal. Honestly. I think a lot of people here are going to be disappointed with the returns the Sox get in deals.
