  1. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) He sucks. Only on the road. Maybe they can acquire him and then give him a deal similar to what Clemens had with the 'Stros? Only pitch at home and places he had success on the road?
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) He's only hitting .227 overall. Understood, but .196...I mean...c'mon.
  3. So, the little bar at the bottom of ESPN's Gameday (I know, it sux) said that Dye's avg. with RISP this year, .196!!! .196!!!!!!! WTF!!!!
  4. How's about a little squeeze play here? Couldn't hurt??? Or not.
  5. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 02:17 PM) YES, NO NO-NO My bad.
  6. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 12:15 PM) If Contrearas is claimed by any team he will be released to them. 'Exactly, which means he'll make it through waivers and trade-able. And anyway, I think teams, as a rule, put most of their rosters through waivers just for flexibility's sake. If someone claims them, they pull 'em back. I know we had a long convo about this last year, so I could be wrong.
  7. I don't think the Sox will go after Rowand. I don't know why, but I just don't. I believe they Sox will trade for a young SS and have Richar up next year. Rowand doesn't match up to the speed that Ozzie wants. I could see, depending on the rest of his year, a Fields, Owens, Sweeney outfield. And a Crede, young SS prospect acquired via trade, Richar, Konerko Pierz at C. Thome as DH. I'm not even going to go for the pitching staff because after Buehrle and Jenks, it's pretty much up in the air. JMHO.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) Vizquel has been one of the worst players in baseball this season, possibly the worst. I imagine he'll retire after this season rather than embarrass himself again next year. Worse than Uribe??? I don't think so. I'm not saying the Sox should get him...but I think Uribe is the worst. [/issue with Kalapse] And, as the optimist that I am, I'm going to believe that the Sox aren't trading players because they aren't getting what they want in return, which, to me, is good business. The players that have been talked about aren't cancers, they aren't loafing, some are having bad years or more. That doesn't mean we shouldn't hold out for what we think are their true value. For instance, maybe a team wants us to pick up half of Contreras' remaining salary. Fine, but you are going to have to give us a better prospect. And that's probably not happening. This team is playing like suck right now and we all want something to happen. But doing something for the sake of doing something usually isn't in a teams best interest. And I'll tell you something else, I think Kenny has matured to the point of actually THINKING about some of his moves before he makes them.
  9. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 10:52 AM) Joe is also going to cost about $5 million next year and his trade value is lowered by the fact that he's a FA in '09 and is represented by Borass (and the back problems don't help, either). As much as I like Joe, I'd rather cut ties with him now and spend that $5 million on the 'pen. If the Sox can't trade him at the deadline...wouldn't it make sense to keep him and get the draft pick(s)? It's one year of Fields in LF. Many players have played other positions for a year or more (Chipper Jones, Craig Biggio, Miguel Cabrera) only to get moved back. Personally, I think Fields is in LF next year. Sweeney is in RF and it's open in CF.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) 9 runners have reached, 9 batters retired. Contreras is so finished. No one is going to want him. Keep insulting him...maybe he'll pitch better. He did just get Infante to ground into a double play.
  11. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 05:17 PM) Bulls***. I personally wear 212 Men - Carolina Herrera (my favorite) or Esu Miague (sp?) Color Blue water/whatever. Can never go wrong with body spray as well. I only wear cologne when I'm going to fansy places or sexy parties. Usually body spray when i just hang out/go have fun doing evil deeds. If you haven't heard of them/tried them then I'd highly recommend it. If you have/don't like it, ignore me. Ignored.
  12. How does that saying go...? The only good cologne is no cologne?
  13. It's a sad day for everyone that loves the game of baseball. One of the last members of the Killer Bees.
  14. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) It's $12 million per year for a guy who, despite his slow start, is still on pace to hit 36 home runs and knock in 100. That would make four straight years with 30 homers and 100 RBIs. He catches just about anything he can get to at first base. He's slow, yes, but how many 30-100 guys are you going to find that can run? And how many of those guys are realistically obtainable? And once Dye and Crede are gone...then we only have Thome, Konerko and AJ as Mudboots. And I'll take the 30 hr power from the two. AJ, I could live with or without. This team is going to get faster this offseason, it might be addition by subtraction...but it is.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) EAT s*** TIGGERS!!!! Come home soon, Nuke.

    Javy

    QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) Vazquez can revert at any time. I'm still cautious and guarded about him. Good for him, though. He's been damn good and I'm happy for him. You can say that about 3/4 of the pitchers out there. Javy is no different, except if you ask most GMs they would say he has electric stuff and just needed to be comfortable and harness it.
  17. Away stats will come as he gets used to other parks. He's probably most comfortable at home. With some offseason defensive work, he should be close to Crede. Fields also has a better eye overall and MUCH better speed.
  18. YEAH!!! And re-sign Erstad!!! Byrnes-Rowand-Erstad would be the grind-ER-iest OF EVAR!!! Until the second game when they all dive for a ball in short CF, break each others faces and are out for the rest of the year, leaving us with an OF of converted IF...Ozuna, Gonzalez and Cintron.
  19. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) Several people on this site had very good feelings about the White Sox going into the 2005 season; if you were to buy into what the media had said, then yes, the team going into the season was mediocre at best. No one did, and that team had virtually no holes to fill at all going into Spring Training. Garland for Renteria is a joke of a trade; you don't trade salary for salary, and if you are in a retooling mode, you are most certainly not looking to take on big contracts. When I hear the word retool, I tend to think about a team shaking the team up and spreading money around the diamond instead of bringing in a ton of huge contracts. At this point, acquiring Renteria does absolutely nothing for the White Sox because they are getting older, not younger, and are adding a bit of payroll. Does that sound like something a retooling team does? Agreed...and if I may add something...a retooling team will get major-league ready players while a rebuilding team will get projects. Someone who can help the team in a year or two. Just look at the Garcia and McCarthy trades. Floyd was supposed to be major-league ready. Danks, Masset and Gio were supposed to be ready in a year or two. These are the kinds of trades we should be looking for Kenny to make.
  20. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 12:13 PM) Trust no one Eggs-ACKTLY!!! If someone absolutely WOWED Kenny in a package for Garland...he'd be gone.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 01:38 PM) Dye Rumors. No offense Jermaine, but the White Sox have recently shown they want to build around pitching (bullpen excluded...yuck). I luv ya for what you gave us...but it's time to go.
  22. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) Dodgers hosted a lunch yesterday with the GM and manager for members of the diamond club. The question and answer session afterward was terrific - the first question was about Jermaine Dye of course. Colletti was very candid about Dye and the speculation, saying he has received calls but says the Sox wouldn't be so eager to trade him if he was 100% healthy and playing to his abilities. He also said he likes Matt Kemp too much to part with him and sees him in the lineup for years to come. The only untouchable is Russell Martin (duh). But he did become evasive when I asked about Vasquez - he seemed intrigued and the dodgers definitely need a deeper rotation going into the stretch run. Anyway, just a cool experience I thought I'd share. Vazquez has a limited no-trade clause and doesn't want to go west. Garland and Contreras are better bets for the Dodgers. BTW, I'm going to the game Friday...first time at Dodger Stadium...can't wait to get a Dodger Dog.
