  1. Sunk cost fallacy is where the alternative of the cost is superior. Obviously that doesn't apply here when Robert is still a quality player. You could apply it to Benitendi where we could get similar production for that 17 million from some guy off the street by sinking the cost. It's clear Robert has more upside than downside at this point. Wasn't the case two years ago. Probably wasn't the case last year. That is all of course because he's hit his downside the last two years, leaving much more room above to where hes at now. No reason to make a trade just to make a trade in some attempt to correct the mistake of not trading him the last two years.
  2. "Tekerman joked that Robert is so indefatigable in the batting cage that his presence is sometimes discouraging to his younger clients, convincing them they'll never make the majors if Robert represents the sort of work ethic necessary to play at the highest level" "He’s a mentor to his teammates, especially the younger ones, with great work ethic and a great sense of humor.” "It speaks to his work ethic, which speaks to how great he can be,”... “He’s got a really good work ethic. I saw it in the spring, and I was like, ‘OK, maybe this is (just because it’s) the spring. He’s getting after it in the spring.’ He gets after it every single day." “He practices extremely hard. He’s extremely focused.” "“What he does defensively, offensively. What he’s capable of doing, and certainly on the basepaths, we just love Luis Robert.” "He shows up every day very motivated. Sometimes in baseball it just clicks and you don’t really know why. But it’s certainly not going to click if someone doesn’t have the right work ethic and that’s not the case with Luis. He’s a pro and wants to get this right." I could add more and more quotes from various times from various people, but I think you get the point. Imagine still questioning Robert's work ethic in the year of our Lord 2026.
  3. Yep. Sox have always raved about his incredible work ethic.
  4. Yep and it needs to get better. But still probably .100 point better than Derek Hill or whoever the hell Wed roll out there.
  5. Honestly disagree. His potential stability even if for 110 games and protection is likely worth more to the younger players in this line-up than whatever you get in a trade at this point
  6. My post was in regards to moving Robert. That is the worst OF in baseball. They need production there.
  7. Hes not bringing back a return right now. You're moving him just to move him.
  8. They won't do anything if they move his money. And if they do, it'll be the same veteran 1 year 8-10 million dollar deal that has yet to ever work out. Luis Robert may be overpaid but he will give you more than whatever you replace him with on any part of the diamond
  9. They need outfielders way more. They have the worst OF in MLB and thats with Luis Robert. Trading him for some projectible 4/5 does little and you can likely get it in 6 months anyways. Robert should mean more to the development of the kids already up then he likely gets in a trade.
  10. Arguable but not what I was addressing there.
  11. Yea this whole discussion has gotten weird. It's clear posters here want to make a trade for the sake of making a trade. Sox have the worst outfield situation in baseball even with him and he is certainly not even close to blocking anyone. Nothing good can come from him leaving the roster. If there return is great, then whatever, but the thought process above is just really dumb.
  12. Sure. You'd get the same type of return at the deadline anyways. He's not even close to blocking anyone yet you're trading him for the sake of trading him. Any protection and stabilization he can offer to the younger players is worth more than these names.
  13. Yeah I see no reason to trade him with these returns.
  14. Trading Robert at this point would kill a lot of the good will of signing Murakami.
  15. Anyone know why theres a big drone show over the stadium right now
  16. Sox will pay out over 40 million after the posting fee.
  17. James Madison Oregon was fun. 1000+ yards of offense and everyone scoring at will. Yes id much rather watch them than Notre Dame.
  18. Offers would just be the same next year. Nobody in Japan throws hard anyways so he'd face the same questions. And most he'd make in Japan is like 2-3 million. So he'd delay another year towards MLB free agency (on the other end) while also still leaving tens of millions on the table even on the lowest ends.
  19. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/47325229/mlb-offseason-2025-26-free-agency-rumors-update-passan-tucker-bellinger-bregman-bichette-valdez " There are still starters aplenty available. Chris Bassitt is the best of the bunch for teams seeking innings -- only five pitchers have thrown more over the past four seasons -- and Lucas Giolito has the highest ceiling. Nick Martinez and Zack Littell are steady strike-throwers, Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander quadragenarians with enough stuff and know-how to succeed, and Tyler Mahle and German Marquez tantalizing to teams that dream on what they could get out of a full, healthy season. Walker Buehler remains a prime bounce-back candidate, Patrick Corbin a lefty who can pitch forever and Michael Lorenzen an ever-ready swingman. Depending on prices, truly every team could target this tier. Among those who have been most aggressive in mid-tier pursuit, according to sources: the White Sox, Orioles, Angels, Nationals, Mets, Padres and Diamondbacks."
  20. Okamotos deadline is January 5th. There was at least some genuine interest from the Sox there.
