Mediocre players are a much better alternative than not having a single outfielder who would be on any other MLB team's roster. It was a salary dump. The Sox have currently 0 outfielders on their roster who would be even a 5th outfielder on basically any other MLB team. Trading him was not necessary. It was a dumb, bad trade. "Time to move on" yet no one can explain what that means or say as to why.
