Passan: Astros sign Imai
Feels like he should take his own media literacy advice.
-
Passan: Astros sign Imai
I guess it should be pointed out the tweet is a joke.

Passan: Astros sign Imai

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
Be nice if Murakami, Robert, Sosa and Montgomery can combine for 110+ hrs. Might have something cooking then.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/705d0a9ea1b1270c84c4dfe069dbc9510b184ebf The White Sox, seeking to rebuild their team, have suddenly emerged as the frontrunners. Following the acquisition of infielder Munetaka Murakami (25), a major comeback from a longshot becomes a reality....The White Sox are strengthening their starting lineup, and they view Imai as an "ace pitcher." There are also reports that they are approaching him with a contract of around three years, rather than a long-term one of seven years. Credit ChiSoxFanMike but yeah thats what the article says.

Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
I'll make the thread

Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
They were interested in Okamoto though. I believe he was #1 priority until Murakami's price somehow got down to what they thought Okamoto's price would be.
-
Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
I'm not really sure then other than I'd guess it's some circular reporting/bad translations. Either way, cant imagine Sox do anything here despite me believing he was #1 priority coming into the offseason.
-
Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
The article just mentions Padres, Pirates and Angels and its taking it from this tweet. He has no meetings set-up per that link yet. The other teams are mentioned seemingly as speculation from an old MLB Trade Rumors article on if they miss out on Bregman (?). https://x.com/i/status/2005298697425633589

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Sunk cost fallacy is where the alternative of the cost is superior. Obviously that doesn't apply here when Robert is still a quality player. You could apply it to Benitendi where we could get similar production for that 17 million from some guy off the street by sinking the cost. It's clear Robert has more upside than downside at this point. Wasn't the case two years ago. Probably wasn't the case last year. That is all of course because he's hit his downside the last two years, leaving much more room above to where hes at now. No reason to make a trade just to make a trade in some attempt to correct the mistake of not trading him the last two years.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
"Tekerman joked that Robert is so indefatigable in the batting cage that his presence is sometimes discouraging to his younger clients, convincing them they'll never make the majors if Robert represents the sort of work ethic necessary to play at the highest level" "He’s a mentor to his teammates, especially the younger ones, with great work ethic and a great sense of humor.” "It speaks to his work ethic, which speaks to how great he can be,”... “He’s got a really good work ethic. I saw it in the spring, and I was like, ‘OK, maybe this is (just because it’s) the spring. He’s getting after it in the spring.’ He gets after it every single day." “He practices extremely hard. He’s extremely focused.” "“What he does defensively, offensively. What he’s capable of doing, and certainly on the basepaths, we just love Luis Robert.” "He shows up every day very motivated. Sometimes in baseball it just clicks and you don’t really know why. But it’s certainly not going to click if someone doesn’t have the right work ethic and that’s not the case with Luis. He’s a pro and wants to get this right." I could add more and more quotes from various times from various people, but I think you get the point. Imagine still questioning Robert's work ethic in the year of our Lord 2026.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Yep. Sox have always raved about his incredible work ethic.
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Yep and it needs to get better. But still probably .100 point better than Derek Hill or whoever the hell Wed roll out there.
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Honestly disagree. His potential stability even if for 110 games and protection is likely worth more to the younger players in this line-up than whatever you get in a trade at this point
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
My post was in regards to moving Robert. That is the worst OF in baseball. They need production there.
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Hes not bringing back a return right now. You're moving him just to move him.
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
They won't do anything if they move his money. And if they do, it'll be the same veteran 1 year 8-10 million dollar deal that has yet to ever work out. Luis Robert may be overpaid but he will give you more than whatever you replace him with on any part of the diamond
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
They need outfielders way more. They have the worst OF in MLB and thats with Luis Robert. Trading him for some projectible 4/5 does little and you can likely get it in 6 months anyways. Robert should mean more to the development of the kids already up then he likely gets in a trade.
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Arguable but not what I was addressing there.
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Yea this whole discussion has gotten weird. It's clear posters here want to make a trade for the sake of making a trade. Sox have the worst outfield situation in baseball even with him and he is certainly not even close to blocking anyone. Nothing good can come from him leaving the roster. If there return is great, then whatever, but the thought process above is just really dumb.
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Sure. You'd get the same type of return at the deadline anyways. He's not even close to blocking anyone yet you're trading him for the sake of trading him. Any protection and stabilization he can offer to the younger players is worth more than these names.
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Yeah I see no reason to trade him with these returns.
