QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 04:50 PM) Quietly I believe Rose plays this year. Bulls just know they have to be smart and toe the line of he won't play. Then if he does, its gravy. Absolutely. The only reason they announced him out for the year was to avoid another PR disaster.

Rosenthal: Tanaka to Yankees
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) This might just be the worst thing in the history of the world. EDIT: OK, maybe not history of the world, but perhaps MLB history. In the 2000s. Still better than the actual decision

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 04:08 AM) I think LA will offer the 4th highest contract. At some point you can't just keep spending and extending mega deals. They get 340 mil a year alone from their tv deal. They can afford it and then some.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 12:27 AM) Nobody in retrospect. Think two Baylor guys at the time were on the board. Just didn't get drafting him than signing Kirk. The Baylor guy that everyone wanted fell out of the lottery and went the pick before. Don't think he's done anything. But yeah agreed the pick never made any sense.- Official 2013-2014 College Hoops Thread

Or not...for now- Dr. V's Magical Putter
QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 11:57 PM) I feel like if she had earned the degrees and such when she was living as a man, none of those details would have ever emerged. None of the story would have made sense if the reporter didn't "reveal" the name/gender change and sharing this information early on would have completely altered the story, as it was being told -- a largely chronological account of his research on Yar Golf. Had he know she was transgendered from the beginning, it is quite likely IMO that he would not have done the digging on her credentials in the first place. He would have simply assumed she had earned those credentials under a different name. While we will never really know, it seems her gender identity was a significant explanatory part of her mental/emotional demise. Living most of her early life as a lie, which is how she would have felt as a man, could easily have led to a lifelong struggle with a fluid identity. She probably felt like Dr. V is the kind of person she could have been if only she had been able to have been born into the right body. Having yet another disappointment, the reaffirmation that she was not Dr. V, could have been too much. Maybe it was mostly unrelated. Who knows. FWIW, I was not surprised at all that Dr. V was "revealed" to be a biological man as I was reading the article. We have a super-secretive person who claims to have been deeply embedded into the military, also be a Vanderbilt, was writing unintelligible gobbledygook in email correspondence, is 6'3" with a deep voice ... let's not act like it was completely outside the realm of possibility until the reporter said so outright. If she had the degrees there would have been no story here other than the original puff piece that the author set out to write. The transgender stuff never gets found or at least mentioned. - 2013-2014 NFL Thread
