  1. I hate Boston. I wouldn't have minded DC again. I guess Boston isn't terrible since it's the next great historical city, but I still hate that city.
  2. "If you fire him now, NO ONE is going to take the job knowing they have 2 years to fix everything, and even if they show improvement in year 2, they are still gone. No coach walks into a situation knowing tIt now." I dont really buy this. Our candidates would be the same now as they are a yeaaren'tm now. Pretty much no non-bcs level coach is going to turn us down since the job is still a step up from where they are at. It's either that or pay big money for a tarnished name like Petrino or Tressel and they aren't saying no to the payday either or would they have any concern over what their inept predecessor did.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 07:47 PM) Why does everyone think Seager sucks and can be had so easily. He is a nice player and Seattle isn't moving him. Don't we pick 3rd like the amateur draft? Or am I missing something. Nope. Wite: "I don' think anyone has said ADA sucks." Me: "JoshPR only posts to say ADA sucks." Marlins 40 man is full so we pick second unless.they decide to clear a spot by draft time.
  4. So Rule 5 draft tomorrow. We pick second. Looks like a pile of crap available. We could use a Loogy, maybe. The Astros catcher listed is righty and garbage, unfortunately.
  5. Tim Banks will be back as Illinois defensive coordinator. Lololololololol
  6. Was that goaltending through the net or did I imagine that?
  7. I hate A section people. I also hate the inept people who set up the seating. We are finally getting a ticket exchange but why does that have to wait? It could be up tomorrow.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:40 AM) He was though, and the Sox turned prospectssaved money into what was basically a blockbuster FA deal for the Sox. Not only that but they have a cost-controlled core for almost 5 more years. Thats incredible. That's still not what I said though. Let me put it this way. The Red Sox could have given up their top ten prospects or one low A pitcher. Either way it would not have affected our signing of Abreu.
  9. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:31 AM) I wish they would leave with a significant upgrade at Catcher. This. But I'll take a 3B too.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:27 AM) I still believe that the Rangers RIDICULOUS trade they made for Garza messed up everyone's expectations for what Peavy would net the Sox. This is true too. Cubs absolutely fleeced there. It would be nice to see the Sox on the right side of a fleecing like that in the near future.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:17 PM) Exactly, but dont let facts get in the way of b****ing. You're just twisting what I said, though. Abreu wasn't part of those deals. I never said we shouldnt trade those guys and save cash, just that we only recieved less than a meaningful prospect for each.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:00 PM) So Hahn has turned... Peavy, Rios and Thornton into.. Avisail, Leury, JDA, and Eaton. I'm cool with that. It's more like Jake Peavy, Alex Rios, Matt Thorton and Hector Santiago for Leury Garcia, Avisail Garcia, and Adam Eaton. I'm actually surprised this board is cool with that. Usually this board loves to preach the failure rate of prospects yet we traded 4 established MLBers (only one who needed to go) for 3 prospects, 2 of them very key to our future. I'd figure everyone here would prefer decent packages. If one of Garcia or Eaton fails we will be in big big trouble and odds are that probably happens unfortunately.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:13 PM) Why is this? He's just as good as these guys getting 2 year, 10 million dollar dealI'm wr Honestly fathom do you trust Hahn to get value for De Aza? I see us trading him for some low level pitcher with an ERA of 5 but has a "live arm". I hope I'm wrong on that but I would rather just keep him at that point.
  14. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:45 PM) Word in Arizona is that the PTBNL is Brandon Jacobs our prospect OFslightlyhat Eaton was a me type selfish player who was not liked in the clubhouse or by management. I liken him to an young Darin Erstad, but with a little more pop. Not sure how I feel about this one, but we got a young hitter for a young pitcher. Man that's pretty bad. Jacobs isn't the greatest but still a meaningful prospect. I assumed it was an A ball pile of crap. A bad deal even worse, slightly.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:42 PM) Hahn is holding his butt after having to give up a PTNBL. I laughed
  16. I feel like you'll get crazed parents complaining that you're teaching their kids how to play beer pong.
  17. I get the feeling he's not worth a lot. If that's the case hopefully we just keep him.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) B>W and I were on the Santiago bandwagon even before the season started Yep. I have to say I'm happy for Santiago himself that he is out of the Sox organization as I'm sure he secretly is. Coolest athlete ever who certainly better than the Sox. But I'm selfish and wanted him here.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) Seems premature to say that, as he could easily classify asefficiently2 if he makes the same leap Quintana did. Why would anyone bet against Santiago to this point? He's proven everyone wrong over and over again. If he learns to pitch more efficiently, he's easily a number two. Easier said then done, but he's still solid for now regardless.
  20. QUOTE (bulokis @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:26 PM) It looks like it. I feel like we sold low on Hector It'd be impossible to argue otherwise.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:25 PM) Your stance is a lot more clear to me then if what you're implying here is you're very into the Sox 2014 chances. What do you mean? Santiago and any other SP we could trade are controlled well beyond then.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) Infield. I am not sure we deal another SP at this point, so free agent possibly? Our rotation is certainly below average now. We better hope we don't trade another SP.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) Nathaniel Stoltz, who does a great job covering the minor leagues, said this: Nathaniel Stoltz ‏@stoltz_baseball 59m Still think he has value, but he projects as a 4OF at this point RT @SpaldingBalls not really a prospect anymore, but thoughts on Adam Eaton Great trade!
