Konerko talks with AZ happened in August
Buehrle>Wood replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, 0% chance of that actually happening. -
about 20 seconds.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) I've been watching it since it's inception, I just thought last night came off really cheesy in most parts. Now, a lot could have to do with the high school reunion concept, but it really felt forced. The conversation between LaGuerta and Captain Matthews in the car was absolutely painful. However, I adore Colin Hanks and the idea of him as a baddie is cool. This master/apprentice thing that's going on has solid potential. Last night was cheesy? I didn't see it, but the entire series is extremely cheesy.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 06:27 PM) Managerial candidates. We should do this if we get it going quickly. ST might get a little press for it too.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 07:50 AM) Yeah Purdue plays Wisconsin, and Penn state this year. The rest are garbage including Illinois+Michigan. Uh. Pretty sure they are both clearly better than Notre Dame. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 05:07 PM) I love the irony of Illini fans lecturing IU fans about expectations. As Jenks said, its from experience. I mean with Illinois the talent has only gotten better but expectations are tempered. -

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) I'd say Wisconsin, Michigan state, osu, and illini are all each others top rivals. I'd say that's a good way to put it, as the last decade shows that these four are probably going to make up 80% of the top 5. Iowa and Indiana are rivals of a different sort. -

QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 11:28 PM) How is winning 100+ games with one of the smallest payrolls in the league considered not winning? Did you see the movie?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 07:36 AM) :notworthy I'm glad I'm not the ONLY person who immediately thought of this on the game tying home run. I thought of this video when Dan Johnson hit his other home run this season (an infamous shot at The Cell) as well. I actually came here to post the video after the game only to see Felix already did. That video is forever tied his with him.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) Where are you interviewing for? And use the Job Hunt thread, lots of good stuff there. Mainly with trading firms with a few other places thrown it.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) We were going to check out 'Moneyball' this weekend, but then their marketing department did a 180 and decided to run a commercial last night calling it the "feel good movie of the year", They did? Hell, I saw the movie and don't get how it's "feel-good".

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) Hear you all on that. It's the first time in a long time I've actually been excited about Indiana basketball. To watch them not get close to the tournament again? -
I hate interviewing. Just give me a job.

I'll just leave this here, where all the fun begins: http://sonsofsamhorn.net/topic/68311-928-1.../page__st__4340 A preview: f*** you dice k go out and leave everything on the field in the WBC then pitch in the mlb and get beat like a ginger step child. Hiroshima was awesome, f*** you. f*** you Lackey, scum of the earth, burn in hell you piece of s***. Go get cancer. f*** you Bogar. Worth third base coach ever. Just die.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) That would be interesting. Sandy as either the 3B coach or bench coach with Martinez. Wouldn't we want a former manager as bench coach if were going with a new guy?
-
Cox is often a joker, it should be noted... Still wouldn't mind the hire though.
-
I'm fine with Baines as long as the new manager doesn't care. Him staying might be a hint at Alomar for manager if we want to keep that whole family organization thing going.
-
This deserved its own thread, since they will be staying on. Rumor was 4 years for Cooper, which seems like a lot. I hope they are the only two that stay. Give the new manager some flexibility...

Ozzie Guillen Released from Contract

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) Retire it in ~5-7 years, assuming things don't completely break down due to a public airing of grievances. I wouldn't retire it. But I would expect the latter to happen. I'll give it a couple weeks. -
Sox acquire Marlins' #4 & #5 prospects for Ozzie.
Buehrle>Wood replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) Getting rid of Ozzie is the key, whatever we get back is just icing. Getting a couple OK prospects is actually a better haul than I would have expected, this works just fine. Any haul should be better than expected. We got out of our crappy manager's contract. That's awesome. Oh yeah here's a guy who throw 100mph too. Don't know how anyone can complain. -

Anyone got the Cooper extension in print or was that not for real? -

Cooper, who hasn't managed in the Sox's system, will be assisted by first base coach Harold Baines. The decision means that Sox bench coach Joey Cora likely will join Guillen in Florida. Cora lives in South Florida in the offseason and has interviewed for several managerial positions.
