QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 04:44 AM) So if ISU pulls this off (still a big if) and LSU and Alabama win out, there has to be a rematch of those two teams in the title game right? I don't know how you would possibly make the case for anyone else over Bama. It'll be Oklahoma or Oregon. Alabama does not deserve another chance since their loss was at home. -
ESPN said it occured over 1000 times and described it in graphic detail.

The new Syracuse child-sex scandal is the most disturbing thing I've ever heard. Ugh.

Puerto Rico Tip-off on now. Purdue down by 2 late in a first round game on ESPNU. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) I bet Obama carries Asia. Obama has proven time and time again that a 6th grader knows more about geography.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) According to the grand jury testimony, the only investigation into him by law enforcement officials happened in 1998. In 2002, the incident was reported to higher ups, and Sandusky was told to stop bringing children from the charity onto campus, but there was no testimony stating that it was reported by anyone to law enforcement (and charges have been brought against 2 people for failing to bring it to law enforcement). Okay, I know Deadspin spoke of a 2002 investigation, but they may just be referring to the school and Second Mile.

Evansville beat Butler I think. Not that Butler will be all too great this year. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) McQueary claims to have both stopped the sexual assault he witnessed AND alerted the authorities. So many more wrinkles to this story... Wouldn't surprise me if he did. Wasn't there an investigation into Sandusky in 2002? Perhaps this is what triggered it, and there was a subsequent cover-up.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 10:32 PM) EDIT: There's also some weird tournament where Notre Dame and Missouri host teams for the first two rounds, and then apparently advance to play each other in the semifinals even if they don't both win these first two rounds. All the preseason tournies protect their main draws (see Mississippi State losing last week and still heading to New York for the CVC championship round), except the NCAA run NIT. You'll occasionally see a mid-major sneak its way to New York. St. Mary's did it a few years back. Here's the bracket this year: http://www.ncaa.com/sites/default/files/fi...poffbracket.pdf -

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) Seriously? What's the new set-up then? The main tourney will run as usual. Basically they did this to set it up like every other tourney where you play 2 games at home against sacrificial lambs, then 2 at a neutral site. Except with this they only play 1 at home to get the max of 4 games, then 3 in Hawaii. -

Champaign/Urbana is an awful area like a lot of campus-towns, so it's not surprising. On campus is pretty safe though. -
Yeah, Steve Stone got this man signed.
-
I don't think a precedent was needed which makes this all the more shocking. Child rape seems to be the worst thought of crime in this country, even on the level of murder.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) Omg. Just heard the rumor of what is supposed to come out and shock people. I hope it's not true. Rumor: Sandusky pimped out those little boys to rich donors. Please don't be true. It will also clarify how he was given retirement in 1999 in exchange for the cover up. This came from the guy I posted about yesterday, Mark Madden. Don't know how reliable he is, but he was one of the earliest people on the story back in March. On another note, the people defending Paterno sicken me.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 06:34 AM) So did Joe report the 2002 incident to the board of the Charity According to Deadspin, the charity knew of investigations into Sandusky in 1998 and again in 2002, but did not do anything about it until 2008.
-
Lots of sensationalism floating around on Twitter on how this story is about to blow up even further, apparently tied into the investigation of the charity. This from the guy who was originally on the story back in April: "Don't believe this can get worse? Give it 72 hrs. People really digging into Second Mile. Even more shocking revelation is ahead. Yikes." Deadspin posted their board: John R. Cappelletti - Retired PSU & NFL Football Player, Heisman Trophy Winner R. R. M. Carpenter, III - Former Owner, Philadelphia Phillies James E. Ford - Retired Vice President, Kmart William A. Gettig - President, Gettig Technologies, Inc. Jack Ham - Retired NFL Player, Pittsburgh Steelers, Hall of Fame Franco Harris - Retired NFL Player, Pittsburgh Steelers, Hall of Fame Lou Holtz - Retired Football Coach, Sportscaster, and Motivational Speaker Dr. Bryce Jordan - Retired, Penn State University President Willi Maier - President, Omni Plastics, Inc. Matt Millen - ESPN Football Analyst Arnold D. Palmer - President, Arnold Palmer Enterprises Joseph V. Paterno - Head Football Coach, Penn State University Andy Reid - Head Football Coach, Philadelphia Eagles Dr. John Reidell - General Surgeon, Past Second Mile Board President Cal Ripken, Jr. - Former ML Baseball Shortstop, President & CEO of Ripken Baseball, Inc. Dominic Toscani - Owner & President, Paris Business Forms Richard Vermeil - Retired NFL Head Coach, (Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Rams, Philadelphia Eagles) Mark Wahlberg - Actor, Rapper, and Film & TV Producer Verne Willaman - Retired Chairman and President, Ortho Pharmaceutical Corp. Quentin Wood - Retired Chairman and CEO, Quaker State Oil Refining Corp. Richard A. Zimmerman - Retired Chairman of the Board, Hershey Foods

I like espns two field reporters. One is going on and on about how violent the protests are. Then they go to the next one who keeps saying how peaceful it is. This bickering has gone on for the last two hours.

I want to add paterno to my pool list. Going Andy rooneys way.
