Can someone summarize 15 pages here? Is it official?

Stanfraud's best win is Washington State. Surely there are better choices.

I see no reason to boycott the CBI. Gazelle is a fine organization, they run the CBE, Coaches versus Cancer, and the Legends Classic. In the very least, it's an excuse to practice a couple extra days or weeks.

Bradley accepted a bid already.

Tonight.

Midwest 1. Ohio State 8. UNC Asheville(Kenny George. Too bad OSU still doesn't have Oden) 4. Cal 5. New Mexico 3. Dayton 6. Cleveland State 2. Illinois State 7. Utah State

Best 13+ seeds with a chance to advance: Oral Roberts(Have an RPI of 53, which rivals most bubble teams. Have beaten next to no one though) Winthrop(No where near as good as the team they had last year, but still pretty decent and could cause problems against a Wazzu team that is just 4-7 against the RPI top 50) San Diego(Already have 3 wins versus the top 50, plus another against Kentucky) I can't see this being a boring bracket. Beyond the one seeds, everyone else seems to be much weaker than usual.

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 10:22 PM) Gotta be over .500 to make NIT. No you don't...

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 10:16 PM) agreed. i didn't expect a win today (hoped for one for sure) but all-in-all i am not too disappointed with the way things came out. as people pointed out, illinois did not deserve to be in the ncaa tournament, and at the end of the day it worked out as it rightfully should have. i'm also excited for the future at illinois, too. i'll be happy to put this season in the rearview mirror. Maybe the NIT will select Illinois to extend the misery.

The SC didn't want to do the racist thing by picking the SWAC school, even know they had an RPI 70 spots worse than Mt. Saint. Mary's. -
How many #1 seeds already set?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 01:38 AM) Jerrance didn't recruit Richmond, you're right, but he sure as hell is the reason why he's sticking with the Illini. It was in some article awhile back. Simpson is nothing special. He will be no better than Shaun Pruitt. They will definitely not be as good next year without Brian Randle who isn't even that great. Yes I do realize they have Jamar coming back next year, but he is not as good as Randle. McCamey really hasn't shown much and I do expect him to get a bit better, but it will be very very hard for them to do good next year, especially considering the rest of the conference will be a lot stronger. This year was a down year for the Big Ten. What are with the ridiculous player comparisons? Randle to Smith, a "nothing special" Simpson to Pruitt? The players you compared all obviously have completely different styles of play. McCamey hasn't shown anything? REALLY? Most seem to think he's on the verge of stardom. He'd probably be there already if it weren't for his freshman inconsistency. Reminds me a lot of Frank Williams, with that rare ability to simply take over a game at times. But overall, I would expect Illinois to be plenty good next year. The number one reason they struggled so much this year is that their number one SG is a walk-on transfer. That is simply inexcusable when the motion, which is completely dependent on quality SGs. As has been said, Illinois picks up about 1.5 proven SGS next year who already have D1 experience. No, neither Jamar Smith or Legion are world-beaters, but they are going to do wonders for Illinois simply because both can shoot. With those two and McCamey, their backcourt goes from a sever weakness to a strength. The biggest worries would have to be down low. Tisdale will be your starting center, Simpson your back-up, so they should be fine there. Who starts at the 4 is anyone's guess. Maybe Brock if thy want to maximize the talent. They got Keller too coming in. He's a PF who is putting up video-game numbers in JUCO, who knows how that will transfer over. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 11:30 PM) They clearly got the clock part right, it started AT LEAST 3 seconds late (I thought it was closer to 5), Yeah, what was with the announcer's shock over this? They were dumb enough not to catch it the first time, let alone after 50 replays.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 09:02 PM) For the record, I think with their loss today, Kentucky deserves to be out. To lose to a horrible Georgia team in an empty/neutral arena quarterfinal is embarassing. Plus, I read Kentucky's RPI is going to drop 10 to 12 spots just due to that loss alone. I don't think Virginia Tech exactly deserves to be in either. However, with as bad as the bubble teams are this year, I'd be less than surprised if they both make it, or at least one. 12 spots to number 60.
-
Kentucky's new RPI is 60, a difference of 12 spots. Hello bubble, again.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 06:21 PM) Jerrance Howard is. I don't think he'll go with the Illini because he's going to witness how horrible they are next year, and yes, they will be brutal next year. Next year? They'll be much better than they are this year, that is for sure. I really don't expect a freshman in HS to base his decsion off such a thing regardless. -

I don't get it. He is better on the mic than anyone on the roster when he's doing HBO 24/7. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) I don't feel like looking back through past tournaments, but has it ever happened before? Not in the last ten years that I can recall. The closest thing I can remember is the 16-14 Georgia, but they were at at-large team. They were an 8 seed, and obviously Illinois' resume would greatly contrast to theirs though. I would say 13 would be the most likely.
