  1. Taco Bell Little brother commercial is seriously the worst thing I have ever seen. I want to throw a brick through my TV every time I see it, which is every other commercial.
  2. Wow, I liked their unis before but their new ones are amazing. And those hats, I'm not a hat guy but I'm going to get one of those.
  3. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Nov 10, 2007 -> 05:45 PM) Everyone is saying our first line of priority this offseason HAS to be upgrading the bullpen (poll on whitesox.com) and it seems to be the case here as well at SoxTalk.com... First of all, if you understand the strategy of "find out where everyone is going and go in the opposite direction" you understand it's usually the proper thing to do in many situations. I'll give an example just so I don't have to further explain that statement. Most people are dead broke. 5% of the people out there control 90%+ of the wealth. Point: Don't follow the herd mentality of getting a job, get taxed everyway till Sunday and then hoping you'll have enough at the end of the day. You won't. The herd tells you "get a job, work your way up, see what happens". Nonsense. Same thing goes for "consensus thinking" on many different subjects all across the board from the stock market to baseball. What if, instead of investing in 2-3 more bullpen arms we took the risk of thinking that Mac and Thornton are in for a good year next year? Perhaps we sign one of the Japanese bullpen prospects but just keep it there and spend our money elsewhere??? It seems to me that quite often bullpens can be great one year and suck the next (see 2005 for Cliff Politte, Neil Cotts and then 06) Last year was obviously a disaster in the pen and no question it was the worst in baseball for various reasons. I do think, however, when healthy (like Mac) these guys can be really tough. And I don't think we give up on them yet and completely retool this thing. Honestly, and I know am very much in the minority here, but I am OK with us just picking up one arm (perhaps from Japan) for our Pen and then addressing the other issues we need taken care of such as getting a second baseman and CF through FA and trades... OK, so there it is...let me have it... ;-) That's always been Kenny's philosophy it seems, just throw a bunch of arms in the bullpen, skilled or not, and see what happens. Last year was really the only year I can remember it being a failure. But failure is an understatement here. I want to see KW go out and sign a couple guys just to be safe. There are guys out there with conistent track records in the 'pen believ it or not.
  4. The first was in a topic created by a mod. The mod asked everyone to turn on their inboxes, didn't give a reason. They do that every once in awhile so it didnt seem like a big deal. But then some one posted "Big, no HUGE news is coming soon guys". When I clicked in, the topic was locked. Then when I clicked out, the topic was gone. Then a thread popped up "Big news coming soon". Didn't make it in there, already deleted. Next minute there is a "Big news coming soon?" thread asking about what was up with the last two posts. Again deleted almost immediatly
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 10, 2007 -> 04:50 AM) What's this about? Where are you seeing rumors? I went to InsideIllini.com and there were 3 quicked locked then eventually deleted threads on it.
  6. Anyone know what this "big news" is coming out for Illinois basketball?
  7. GA Tech, Cinci and New Mexico State all fall.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 10, 2007 -> 03:54 AM) Offer a horrid start by CU where they were down 15 or 17 at one point, they end up coming back and winning by a dozen. The 2nd half was all Stinnett, unbelievable performance by him in his first college game. Terrific 2nd half by CU to win that. But I'm sitting here wondering, what is DePaul thinking going to Creighton to play their first game of the season? I wouldn't care if you're the number one team in the country, you don't do that.
  9. wwe.com Haven't watched the videos yet, but that could get interesting...
  10. I've been gone the last 3 days. Anything happen in CBB? OSU lost?
  11. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 06:09 AM) Was that an honest guess? LOL, nope. But I am interested in hearing why they are doing a d3 game.
  12. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 02:16 AM) Anyone wanna guess where Gameday is this week? Wild guess here, but I'm going to go with Williamstown, MA. Gut feeling.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 03:11 AM) Not us. You think so? UofI shouldn't have any trouble with ASU. Then they have Duke. Duke may be a better team then than Illinois this year, but the Illini match up very well with them. The Blue Devils will be based around a bevy of wings and they'll rely HEAVILY on the 3. Which is good news for the Illini, as those shots will likely struggle to fall against their D(especially if those stiff Maui rims aren't a myth). I think there's a good chance at a UofI/Marquette final, though that will depend upon how quickly Duke's frontcourt can mature. As for LSU/OSU, there shouldn't be any worries. Neither will be any goo though LSU does still have Tasmin Mitchell.
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 02:09 AM) Ha. I saw Derrick Rose play multiple times live in high school. He is a good shooter. He doesn't have to score and can be a great floor general but if he wants to turn it on, he will. When exhibition is done and the real games start, he'll turn it on. This isn't an exhibition by the way.
  15. It's day 1 of the season, Richmond wins, and now Memphis is losing to one of the worst team in the country, 26-21.
  16. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 03:58 AM) What does that mean? Maybe Sampson is sleazy, but it's hard to deny he can coach college basketball. Maybe "great" was the wrong word -- I wouldn't want him coaching a team I liked but he clearly is good at winning games. And maybe I'm overrating IU's talent, but Gordon, Crawford, White, and Ellis are all talented enough to play in the League IMO. Gordon has a legit shot at winning a national title this year at IU. Given that he would not have had that at Illinois, I don't think it's a stretch to say he made a good choice for his career. It meant it was a pathetic attempt at stealth trolling.
  17. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 03:25 AM) I agree -- I think they'll easily win the Big Ten and they're my pick to win the NCAA tournament as well. They have at least 4 legit NBA players on the roster and an excellent coach. Eric Gordon chose well. Oh god.
  18. By having a strong media presence.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 06:39 AM) I know you're the same way as me B>W but I'm so excited for monday. I can't explain to you how much I missed college basketball. Yeah, me too. The number one thing I would change about sports is for the CBB opener to get TV coverage(Not including ESPNU), even if it is just Memphis vs. Tenn-Martin.
  20. 2kSports Invite opens the season Monday.
  21. Boston College finally shows they were overrated.
  22. I liked how the the tradition Weis started(Sitting in front of the Navy band while they play) played this year.
  23. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 3, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) How weird is it to watch Gameday in the dark in Eugene?? Missed Gameday, but what do you mean?
  24. Michigan State loses to Grand Valley State
  25. Holtz gave Navy his pep talk this week. He'll do anything to get a win for Notre Dame.
