Agreed. Given how they've handled his slow ascension in the minors, seems pretty clear they don't think he's ready for whatever reason. They aren't worried about service time with him.

If the sox are playing service time games with a 24 year old who isn't some top prospect, they are even dumber than I thought. Although I genuinely don't think they think he's ready given they started him out in A ball.
