  1. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) This win clearly belongs to the RALLY CORPSE!!! now THAT's funny!
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) I think it's safe to say Mackowiak will be starting in CF tomorrow. Unfortunately, he really hasn't been much better than Anderson. Under the circumstances, shouldn't Ozzie just let the kid play?
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) Felix has looked terrible in the two starts that I saw. Yeah, I'd definitely rather face him than Washburn. The other two don't strike much fear in me, however.
  4. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) Mercy. Figures that they get a blooper, but Dye has an awesome throw! What happened? I'm stuck in the lab with no radio or TV...
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) Mercy. Figures that they get a blooper, but Dye has an awesome throw! What happened? I'm stuck in the lab with no radio or TV...
  6. I'm not saying he was on them... However, if we assume he was on them prior to last year and further assume he was not on them last year because other wise he would have been caught, then it's very interesting that his HR total was at its highest during the "clean" year.
  7. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPG0K5ATIC1.DTL Why was AJ subpoenaed? Did anyone suspect him of steroid use on a serious level, or was it because of the one season he was with the Giants? I thought that was odd as hell and left me a little surprised. Someone shed some light. Does it have anything to do with him being in the Giants clubhouse that year?
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) I can buy the Santana argument, but Garland's line was close to Colon's, only one difference, Colon was the ace of the Angels and that carries some weight to voters. In terms of Santana, the reality of it is, while people can call wins fluke or whatever they want, they do matter in the Cy Young race and 5 wins is a rather large difference. Why should it matter if you're the ace or the "5th starter"? It's a single season award, not a career award. If you have to be the ace of your team to win it, then it's no longer a seasonal award.
  9. QUOTE(Damen @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) Easy Mike North. It's not like Contreras is putting up these numbers for the Royals. The country, sportswriters residing on the East coast included, saw the Sox ride Contreras to a WS title last year. If he can continue putting up the numbers he's put up since last August, he'll be in as good of contention as anyone for a Cy Young. I know everyone saw us ride Contreras to the WS last year, I'm just concerned that they've already forgotten it. I was listening to Dan Patrick on my drive back to school yesterday and him and Kruk and they both have Schilling/Beckett labeled as the best 1-2 combo in MLB (they even mentioned the White Sox staff as being "deep" but I was disappointed they didn't think that the Contreras/Buehrle duo compares). I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the season plays out. I'd just be concerned that if all things end up equal or even close to equal that one of those guys would get the nod over Contreras. Also, please don't give away my secret identity to anyone else!
  10. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 09:26 AM) He's going to have a shot at the Cy Young...no doubt... I love this guy, too, but unfortunately I think that the East Coast Bias will end up favoring either Beckett or Schilling and the West Coast group will be in love with the best of the A's pitchers.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) Where would he play? The DL? Him and Kerry Wood could be the king of the simulated game
  12. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) KC is not a team that you can kick the s*** out of, they will battle you. I'm not so sure about that... their only 2 wins so far were against us.
  13. I gotta say that Cintron is one helluva back-up. Too bad Ozzie can't stick him in centerfield...
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) We should pitch in and get him a slip n slide, from SoxTalk. I bet he'd get a kick out of it. I'm all for it... if I pick one up from Toys 'R Us tomorrow, where does it get sent to?
  15. QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) Hey, I made a mistake. That was not the AP; that was Dave van Dyck's account from the Trib. Sorry about that. Dude, this is me showing you up.
  16. QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) i think we have some major flaws and it scares me...we're better than most...but i think our bullpen is gonna catch up with us big time as time wears on. The bullpen really scares me. Hopefully it does not prove to be the Achilles Heel of an otherwise dominant team.
  17. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) Two bench players in the starting lineup seems okay, but THREE????????? Why does Ozzie do that? Grrrr.......... As was posted, I don't think you really count Cintron as a bench player, comparing his and Uribe's starts to the season.
  18. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 08:08 AM) I don't think that DJ is as bad as some of you make him out to be. I actually think that he is a pretty decent announcer. I noticed this year that DJ didn't seem as bad as he has in the past.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) Politte and Logan warming in the pen. I guess we have to rely on these guys at some point...
  20. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 08:02 AM) I don't think that argument stands to scrutiny. Are you telling me that Eric Chavez has some glamorous appeal to him? As we saw last year, Gold Gloves are basically issued on name recognition/appeal. For example, Hunter won over Rowand and Kotsay, playing less than 100 games. Under those circumstances, I have no idea what either Rowand or Kotsay could have done to won it last year. Similarly, I just don't think Crede has the name recognition to beat out A-Rod or Chavez, unless they are both absolute butchers in the field this year and Crede has another stellar defensive year.
  21. I'm a little bored on this off-day, so let me ask a question. If the Twins tank, and decide to trade Hunter, would you trade for him? It'd almost be a move akin to when the Bulls brought in Rodman: the guy on the hated division rival steps in as a great defensive player and brings just enough clutch offense to keep you over the top?
  22. QUOTE(White Sox Fan For Life @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) Hi wise and older brother! Remember RockRaines wants to know if you are hot. Your brother won't answer for some reason.
  23. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) Yes, but remember, over a 162-game schedule, this is bound to happen. How many times last year did it look like all hope was lost? Our entire team sucked pretty hardcore at more than a couple points, but Ozzie pulled them together and got them back on track. He's a great manager, coupled with a great pitching coach and an unbelievable pitching staff. The law of Averages is perfect for this situation! They will strike back and return to form, because they are that good! Oh, don't get me worng. I know we've got a great team, but most importantly a great manager (unlike many on the board, I too acknowledge Ozzie is one of the great ones). They're too talented and too well lead to be a piss-poor baseball team. I just hope that the bullpen isn't crippling for this team as a bad bullpen has been for the Cubs in the recent years.
  24. I'm not worried about Pods since the offense is doing the job without him. Imagine how it's going to click if he returns to form! Now the bullpen...
