  1. he's been in the derby the whole time......
  2. I don't want to see him in the Derby either. I was talking about in the actual game.
  3. Just saw this on the ticker on ESPN. Giambi is out with his parasite problem for the HR Derby. I can't imagine he'll play in the game. This might open up a much deserved spot for Konerko.
  4. I was just about to post this. CLASSIC HAWK "BS. Total BS....with a capital B and a capital S........8 Yankees.......5 Indians...."
  5. Shut up. Lee killed all of those balls. If I hit bombs like that I would admire them too. Carlos plays defense hard, he always tries to stretch singles into doubles when possible and is aggressive on the basepaths. You have no clue what you're talking about. As far as the foul ball....if it would have hit anything it would have hit the foul pole and thats still a HR. I don't know what "railings" there are at US Cellular field you could hit and the ball could "come back" into play. Enjoy the win and quit searching for things to complain about.

    Kenny

You're wrong about that. Danny Ferry won a title with the Spurs a few years back. He's the only one though.
  7. I'll be happy to see Loaiza walk at the end of the year. He's been streaky at best and there is no way he merits Garcia money, s*** even Buehrle money.
  8. No doubt about it. When Maggs is healthy the Sox have just about the most potent 3-7 in baseball. Ordonez Thomas Lee Konerko Valentin Without Magglio the face of this lineup changes dramatically. Not to mention his defensive skills in RF.
  9. EXACTLY. KW is a smart man. He knows that he might have to overpay a little bit for Freddy. This offer was just a starting point for negotations. Freddy has already stated that he would like to work out an extension, the money just has to be right. Freddy is probably a bigger priority for KW right now than Magglio. He'll resign him no matter what it takes because he knows the fans and how pissed off they would be if we gave up a fan favorite in Olivo and didn't sign Freddy long-term. The deal will get done and so will the Maggs deal. If KW and JR think there is even a 1% chance the Cubs will acquire Ordonez in the offseason the checkbook will open up because they'll lose fans and fans=money.
  10. My guess is that Giambi will start the game and Ortiz will be picked as the reserve. I don't think Frank or Konerko will make it unfortunately. I'd say Uribe at 2nd base, or Buehrle.
  11. agreed. I think getting back to the Cell is going to be huge. We play SO much better there. It will be nice to get done with this Interleague bulls*** as well. As far as I'm concerned with Interleague being over and Maggs coming back soon this team is going to be at FULL STRENGTH for the rest of the year.
  12. Agreed. About Garcia, he is a proven pitcher with proven stuff and should only get better working with Coop and getting the run support we can give him. I would like to see him in a Sox uni for many years to come. Maggs, Garcia, Buehrle : 3 young guys you could build your franchise around....and WIN. Lets just hope we play well and get a winner tonight
  13. There really is no harm in deferred compensation. What you have to understand is that guys are more willing to go to the Yankees because they know year in and year out they will be competing in the playoffs. I would imagine that the bottom line for Maggs is that he wants to win, it is the driving force of ALL athletes. Once we traded for Garcia I thought that if we resigned him it would actually make it EASIER to resign Magglio because it gives us a much better chance to be winners during the time of his would-be contract. You hear some many things about so many different scenarios related to Magglios contract it is hard to know what is or isn't true. All I know is that we can't afford to give him a Vlad type of contract. I think offering a guy this type of money WHILE he is on the DL is a good show of faith by KW. KW knows that JR is going to include his typical bulls*** clauses in his contract, putting this offer on the table now might be KW way of saying "hey i want you to stay, but i don't write your contract" type of gesture. KW has to know that if he doesn't make the playoffs this year, loses Garcia and loses Magglio then this year was a TOTAL bust. Personally, I think we WILL make the playoffs and re-sign both players. Lets face it, Reinsdorf, as much as we hate him, is a sports guy, he wants to win. He CAN build a winner and if he sees a good opportunity to win, I think he'll open up the checkbook.
  14. I'm pretty new to this site. I've been a Sox fan all my life, born on the Southeast side. That being said I will say this. I have never read so much bulls*** in my life as I have on these boards in the weeks I've been visiting. I have never seen so many people who are supposed to be "diehard" fans to quick to s*** on the team they love, criticize its players, GM, Manager and even its own fans. We lose a series to the cubs? So what. We get swept by the cubs? So what. Pride is one thing but winning the division is the ultimate goal. If we take 6 of 6 from the cubs and miss the playoffs, the entire year is a bust. We lose 4 of 6 and are playing into October then the year was a success. Being a fan of this team at times is VERY frustrating but that is what being a fan is all about. You ride your team through the ups and downs. Everytime a pitcher has a bad outing or a fielder makes an error etc. I read 5 posts about how that guy should be traded or WE NEED TO MAKE A TRADE and other types of bulls***. Kenny Williams is doing the BEST job he can and giving our team the BEST possible opportunity to win ballgames, get into the playoffs and make a run at a World Series ring. This team is fine, in much better position than last year and everyone knows is traditionally a much better second half team. We are going to be fine, just be a TRUE fan and stick with your team instead of posting all of this bulls***. This post isn't meant to be a blast to the people who post on this site, I've definitely read some posts from some obvioiusly spirited fans. Just my 2 cents.
  15. 3 Starters: Sox or Yankees (depends solely on if the Yanks are healthy and if/when they add another st arter) Lineup: Sox (have been outproducing the Yankees so far this year without Ordonez) 8th Inning Guy: Marte is more consistent than Gordon Closer: I can't believe someone suggested Shingo was equal to Mariano Defense: Probably not even an issue, all of those defenses are mediocre at best, but probably the Yankees if you are talking strictly IF and turning DP's. Especially after they add Bret Boone.
  16. He only threw 105 pitches tonight, he probably could have gone another inning but I think Ozzie felt comfortable pulling him with a 3 run lead the way Politte-Marte-Shingo have been shutting it down. If you mean threw too many as in he didn't manage his pitches well and fell behind to alot of hitters then yes I agree. All night it seemed if he wasn't striking people out on 3-4 pitches he was going to full counts. He had no BB's and 9 K's and gave us a solid 6 innings, all in all a very good first outing.
  17. Would you mind copying and pasting the whole article. I don't have Insider.
  18. I suppose I wouldn't mind Alomar back if he was only used in Pinch-running/Hitting situations. He gives a switch hitting bat, is a smart base-runner and plays solid D. There is nobody in the lineup I would sit in favor of him. And I would only like this if we paid a very SMALL amount of CASH for him, no prospects.
  19. 'nuff said. I've called bulls*** on this trade ever since the rumors were announced and Kenny himself has been quoted as saying he has in fact talked to the Bravos about ortiz but has never once brought up Maggs.
  20. Because first of all games against the Twins are 10X more important than those against the cubs. Second of all Garcia is something like 4-1 1.25 ERA career vs the twins.
  21. Yes, I'm from good ole Valparaiso, IN. Actually not from there, just in school out here. Still in the Chicago market as far as cable goes though, so I don't ever miss a game
  22. Actually Loaiza will be going on Friday. They skipped the 5th starter spot to throw Garcia tomorrow which throws things off a little bit. Loaiza will be pitching on his usual rest on Friday, Saturday will be Diaz and then Buehrle on Sunday.
  23. Not surprised at all they weren't 1 and 2. That list was pretty solid. 8 Men Out is a great movie and great story but it wasn't put on film very well. Field of Dreams should have been #2. They got it right with Hoosiers.
