  1. I really don't get what is so hard for others to understand. Manny came into the offseason expecting Stanton-esque money. Not only is he not getting that, but he's not being offered 300 either. He is willing to wait for 300, as the one team he seemingly "wants" to go to (Yankees) is not willing to give him a deal worth considering. I totally buy that he doesn't want to play on the west coast, but if the Padres end up with the highest offer at 285 and the Sox at 260, then I think he's going to be fine playing on the west coast.
  2. But that's depressing...I hope most realize this free agency chase is the most exciting part of this season for us.
  3. FWIW Russell guessed it would be the Giants
  4. Don't blow your cover J. Michael Robertson
  5. Yeah, I really don't believe anything has been decided.
  6. If Bryce signs with any team that's not the Sox or Phillies, then it's possible the Phillies (especially) get desperate and raise their offer to Manny in order to not strike out on both.
  7. Here's hoping that Adley, Vaughn and Jung put up monster seasons
  8. Also Buehler gained velocity after the TJS. I actually wasn't overly impressed with what I saw from him his junior year at Vandy.
  9. Plain and simple, the Sox won't take someone with medical red flags that early in the draft.
  10. Rumors everywhere that Kimbrel was spotted at Orlando airport today....Braves spring training is there
  11. Isn't it similar to drafting Collins knowing they'd have to help him fix the hitch?
  12. Another thing to consider is San Diego is a bad hitter's park, and with around 100 games being played on the west coast, that's a lot of late games for his family to have to watch back east.
  13. I'm fine with it after 3, would love it after 4.
  14. I don't think it would be them with the opt-outs...more the Phillies or even Yankees.
  15. Wanting very early opt-outs and the Sox not wanting to do so has always been an important obstacle that's been looming.
  16. That mlb.com article isn't exactly random. With that said, I do agree that the last 3 months should have taught us something. I've shared tweets from all angles over the last few months for people to read and develop their own opinion.
  17. I think that's about the worst approach he could have.
  18. Yep, if they lose out on both guys and one of them goes to Padres, there should be no excuses and the fan base should be absolutely livid.
  19. I'm just adding information that's out there, but this article on mlb.com contains this quote: There's belief that a Padres offer for Machado would likely top those of the other contenders. https://www.mlb.com/padres/news/manny-machado-being-courted-by-padres/c-303972722
  20. FYI, this guy was one of the first to mention the Padres being in on Machado. Here are the contract figures he's heard:
