I actually buy the Nick/Cubs rumor. Giants don’t seem confident they get him and Reds are looking elsewhere. Might be a Rangers/Cubs battle?

Castellanos would be the icing on the cake for me. Him or JDM were my priorities heading into the year.

Marlins already tried to trade for Mazara though

Sox have always had a man-crush on Puig since they saw him in Dodgers Spring Training

Been thinking the same as you in terms of Mazara and Collins being packaged. Maybe the Marlins would be interested.

FWIW the Reds clubhouse supposedly loved him

Reason why this might be false....Stoney seemed against Puig

Or like some of us said at the time, it was just too good of a deal to turn down. Some media member also recently said Sox soured on Steele.

My concern with Puig is how does he handle not playing more than 2-3 times a week

Some notes from Sox insider Steve Stone, on the emergency podcast with Chuck: - thinks Sox get a reliever and possibly another RF to platoon with Nomar, but not as significant as some of the recent acquisitions - doesn’t think the Sox were ever necessarily in on Castellanos - high praise for Mendick, as well as Leury

Amazing post! It’s so true though, hopefully gone are the days of AAAA players. It was ridiculous how little power the team hit for last year.

Yep as well as depth for Robert in case of injury or lack of extension

Not happening....Stoney is the team spokesperson now. He’s basically spoiled 3 of the past moves now. Will be interesting what he says might happen next. I believe he mentioned Pillar weeks ago.

Given the roster construction, he has no real path at being a full time starter the next few years. Grandal has catcher and Abreu/EE and then Vaughn have 1B and DH taken. If he has strong value on the market, he’s easily the most tradable asset.

I don’t think Collins is in this organization in a few weeks. No inside info, just reading the tea leaves

Wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Yolmer is brought back

I don’t see how anyone could be upset with this. Another move that helps for 2020 but doesn’t block core guys down the road.

Sounds good, let’s go sign Pillar and Harris and go to battle

Bob has been right on a ton of late

Eloy and EE are going to have a blast together

I will be stunned if they trade McCann

Santa?

There are a lot of assumptions on here about the health of the players. A few of them will surely spend time on the DL, and it’s a lot better to have the depth of actual big leaguers instead of having to use the likes of Skole.

Get off of soxtalk Ozzie
