  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 12:41 AM) Henzman with a rough start. Pulled after two innings & six runs. Non earned. Basabe just homered
  2. Charlotte games without Kopech are the opposite of "must see tv".

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 07:17 PM) That was the entire point of my first post. He needs to adjust to the League grooving pitches in first pitch and instead pounce on those. Agreed, if you know you're struggling to hit anything offspeed, you better be aggressive when you see a fastball.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 05:04 PM) Hitting a baseball is hard. The issue as they make that climb over AA is the quality of breaking pitches they see. Lots of these guys can hit fastballs. In fact is hard to advance to AA without being able to hit a fastball. And most of these guys can hit average secondary pitches. But once they cross the line into the majors their flaws are picked apart by advanced scouts. They have to adjust and prove they can either hit X pitch, lay off X pitch, or jump on the fastball and not get in between. Some of them it just happens right away, others take time to develop this. And some it just never happens. Hopefully with Yoan its just mechanical aspects and getting ABs. I remember you and I being stunned at how Josh Fields simply forgot how to hit fastballs after a promising start. I'm not seeing that with Yoan.

Yoan started off great in AAA last year, but his numbers really faded. Still way too many strikeouts and you would expect a higher OPS in a great hitters park from someone who could come up and dominate in the majors. I know I shared on here the in-person reports I was told about his poor body language and lazy at bats

Moncada's stock was way down compared to what it had been a few months before when the WSox got him. I know I follow KLaw closely to a fault, but he wasn't even a top 5 guy anymore for him. Boston clearly saw some things they were concerned about, which is why he was no longer untouchable. It's up to the WSox and Yoan to fix these holes now
  7. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 05:59 AM) Mostly because I think they can't recover if Moncada busts. They don't have enough IF talent. 2nd base is an easy position to get quality players. Gordon, Hernandez and Lowrie could have been had this past offseason for non-top prospects. Kopech has turned into the big catch from that trade.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 05:55 AM) Hey! a run! Sosa special
  9. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 05:51 AM) Also, wouldn't it be Sox luck to have nothing go right? This could be our payback from the baseball gods for winning that 05 series that this rebuild goes horribly wrong. Why the panic about the rebuild? There's legit 3 players on the field today that are considered part of it. Again, it's your fault for buying into the hype this year for a team that everyone outside of Chicago thought would be horrible.
  10. Too early to talk to Mets about Welington? It's not like Manny is signing here anyways
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 04:47 AM) I'm tempted to drive down to NC and put Kopech in bubble wrap at this point. And don't let Robert steal once this season
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 04:47 AM) Predict it now- fans on the field tomorrow night. The fans will shut out the Sox too?
  13. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 04:44 AM) As long as Lopez continues to pitch well, Giolito and Moncada get it together, Fulmer, Anderson, etc. I'll gladly take the downs. And no more f***ing massive injuries to the big prospects (please let Hansen and Eloy be ok)
  14. Good thing they played for one run in the 3rd inning
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 04:36 AM) This defense is unbelievable. Just imagine how bad people would consider this defense if official scorers haven't been very generous so far this year
  16. Seriously wtf Engel
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 05:30 AM) The issue with Yoan is that while he has excellent feel for the strike zone, I'm starting to think he has no gameplan whatsoever at the plate. I'm not sure that he really knows what pitches he likes to hit and doesn't like to hit, what pitches he's likely to get in a given situation, things like that. The fault there is of course on our coaching and development, but it's a somewhat fixable problem. It may also be the case that our attempts to get him thinking that way are kind of paralyzing him where he's constantly caught in between. You're making it too complex. He's late on fastballs and isn't adjusting his swing to the plane of offspeed pitches. KLaw has warned that his swing could lead him vulnerable to this very thing.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 04:28 AM) It is a 1-2 curveball in the zone, just swing the damn bat and at least protect Yep, after he pulled off and missed an 89 mph fastball. He's got to stop guessing with 2 strikes
  19. Pathetic
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 05:25 AM) Might do wonders for Anderson or whomever is the future SS of this team. Madrigal
  21. Good for Engel. Bunt to get him into scoring position?
  22. Stop pulling the low slider
  23. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 05:20 AM) It's lack of focus. The athletic play doesn't give him time to do anything but react. The previous ground ball is a piece of cake. He took his eyes off the ball. Footwork is the issue to me. His throws have been off this year too
  24. Yoan might as well homer and we can consider this a positive rebuild game
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 04:14 AM) I think Hawk jinxed this team by that crap he was spewing in that home opener when he said this team was special, would never quit, blah blah. There's something special going on and you can see it, blah blah. That error by Abreu there is the ones you make when you are not concentrating because you have such a bad team. Ditto that error there by Anderson. This team totally blows. It really has no strengths when you think about it and a ton of weaknesses. That's it. Name one strength. This team has none. Only weaknesses. They have good overall speed. That's it. Bad hitting/pitching/defense/coaching
