USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
fathom replied to shysocks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 08:00 PM) Scot Gregor thinks Robin will decline. Maybe this is a planned offer to come back for a year, he declines, and that's that. Everybody knows this should be a clean break. Spiegel seems to agree -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) Didn't he get into it with one of his starters? Sale cutting jerseys is on him, not anyone else. And according to RH at the season ticketholder event I was at, RV went ballistic on him, and RH said Sale will never do anything like that again. He said Robin's strength is also considered his weakness. He keeps the stuff in house. There can be a case for replacing him, but putting any blame on him for that incident is ridiculous. And the other s*** show as you call it? Didn't they start out 23-10? Hammel didn't like getting pulled early I believe, but it didn't escalate more than that. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 08:07 PM) If Maddon can mean that many wins, I wonder how the 2014 Rays lost 85 games, and his first 2 seasons they lost 198. Players win games. The team was short. Robin has been around, his contract is up, they haven't won, it does seem like a time to move on, but, at least they aren't blaming the manager for not winning. There are going to be some drastic changes to the roster. On the field, I have read that even the best managers equate to 2-3 more wins. I think off the field is where Maddon is a genius, as he completely turned the culture of that team around. -

I don't think Maddon would have allowed for the s*** show with Sale, Eaton, LaRoche to occur -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 07:58 PM) I'm trying but its going to get harder and harder. One team is run to perfection and the other is a clown show. Never been more obvious that JR needs to sell -

On the bright side, maybe Ventura will demand a 4 year deal. We know this organization will be too shy to go past 3 if last year is their new philosophy -

Outside of loyalty, I have no idea why a casual Chicago sports fan would raise their kid a Sox fan instead of a Cubs fan right now. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 01:45 PM) There is no way you fire a guy brought in to rebuild in the middle of the rebuild. Thought the same as you but Schefter seemed to doubt he's safe no matter what

Just an inept organization from the top to the bottom. As someone said, have fun drawing fans with Ventura around and Sale traded to Boston. Ventura is simply a terrible manager to go with a bottom 3 general manager. -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 04:05 AM) If Albers somehow f***s this up I hope Chris Sale beats the s*** out of him. 6.35 ERA and on the roster the whole season. When is last time this happened?

QUOTE (Insp @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:33 AM) Why is 1b so important to you? Because Abreu is god awful defensively
-
QUOTE (Insp @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:02 AM) Why not? Rather get someone that can play a little 1b
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:18 AM) Morneau will be back Please no

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 12:56 AM) Innings like this are exactly why Chris Sale needs to pitch to the end of the season. If you ever want him to be able to go 250 in a post season, he has to be conditioned to do it. Well he's getting traded anyways
-
Go Timmy
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 01:49 AM) 5 innings tonight and Sunday would be good. Sale is a major league starter. He should make all of his starts as long as the season is 162 games. Not sure what good it does having him working on his batting practice fastball though.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) Might as well crown the Cubs NL Champions. Insane amount of injuries impacting Cubs competition in NL postseason. Some speculation Murphy might be out for longer than expected also.

Sale is throwing 90mph. Wtf
-
Sale has absolutely nothing out there. Just shut him down, he's not winning CY

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 09:39 PM) In other news, there are some reports that Pace and Fox don't see as eye to eye as previously reported. In fact, some of the reports go as far as saying that Pace never wanted to hire Fox (he wanted Bowles) and Fox was forced by McCaskey's (at the recommendation of Ernie Ocorsi who suggested a veteran coach to counter Pace's inexperience). Also some reports that Fox struggles with discipline (evidently that was one of the matters that really irked Elway). Obviously negative stories are going to come up around now and who knows how much truth there is to these reports. I really think Fox is gone if this season goes as expected

I watch Anderson at bats and Rodon starts. Besides that it's very erratic. Don't think I have watched Avila bat in over a month

Dee Gordon with an incredible moment

I'm thinking Ryan Pace isn't very good. It will be interesting if Fox survives this season as Bears coach. schefter was on the radio saying it would be wrong to think he's back next year no matter what.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 12:59 AM) The offense is so bad. Im having flashbacks to the John Shoop era. Horrible OC hire
