  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) I agree with you fathom, either they're determined to find a left-handed power bat to slot between Abreu & Frazier or they're still high on Avi turning the corner. I'm still hopeful it's the former as it would explain a lot of the rumors/quotes but overall lack of action to date. They still might be high on Avi turning the corner, but I still think they want some competition for him and/or LaRoche. Even if they're 100% behind Avi, they have the perfect chance to get Raburn to platoon with LaRoche.
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) Do you also respect the Dodgers for buying all their talent too? I don't. I respect teams like the Rays and Pirates who can do it on budgets. Everyone knows I hate the Cubs, but they could have put together a division contending roster on a mediocre payroll if they wanted to with all their young, cost-controlled stars.
  3. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 09:29 PM) Who fits the bill at this point? Bruce is expensive in terms of salary. Maybe Jennings or Guyer? Reddick? I wish we had an idea what was going on. Also, how accurate has Levine been lately? I haven't really been keeping tabs. The lefty candidates would be Ethier, Reddick and Bruce.
  4. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 20m20 minutes ago Request of O's for 1-yr opt-out came late. Hard to imagine fowler believed O's would do that considering no opt-out policy. Sure seems like the Orioles are trying to save face by saying there was no agreement.
  5. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:26 PM) I'm at a loss for words with how this has all shaken out. I honestly don't understand it. I've been of the belief they have no money left, but then you see a deal like Coghlan's today and they could have easily offset his salary by unloading someone like Petricka. It really makes me think they're specifically targeting someone. I'm gonna go with what Levine has been saying and it's a lefty with power. He's been very specific in reporting that.
  6. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:24 PM) We've said that with just about every FA out there so far & yet we are still here. I'm not ruling out any team at this point for any player. It is kind of crazy how some of these deals have come out of nowhere (Khris Davis, Coghlan), yet the Sox have been linked to just about everyone and nothing's happened.
  7. Sure seems like Austin Jackson has limited options right now. Really only see WSox, Rangers, Angels and Indians. Indians, Rangers and Angels supposedly don't have payroll space.
  8. David Kaplan ‏@thekapman 2h2 hours ago I have to tell you, I never saw this coming but the Cubs move speaks to the absolute class person that @dexterfowler is. Phenomenal guy. I wonder what Adam Jones thinks about this
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 06:43 PM) Pulling a DeAndre. Funny thing is I thought that could happen with Cespedes if he agreed to deal with the Sox
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 06:42 PM) The fact that Fowler just signed for $8m and an option actually doesn't upset me as much as the 3/$33m deal that fell through did -- this choice was clearly about an opt-out. I get that Hahn didn't want to put Fowler back on the market after one season if it meant losing a prospect. Yep, he wasn't going anywhere unless he could either get a deal that was too good to pass up or could opt-out after a season
  11. Looks like Fowler is lying. No shock, always thought he was a goof William Hirsch ‏@WilliamAHirsch 5m5 minutes ago Adam Jones said he talked to Fowler and he was excited to report to Sarasota...but OK.
  12. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) I am starting to think Avi has always been the number one option unless they were given a real gift of a deal for RF. I think he was always going to get a lot of at bats
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) On the other side of the coin, if Theo is going to give Coughlan away, why would he give him to the White Sox instead of a team like Oakland? BTW, I don't think Coughlan is very good. It doesn't bother me they didn't trade for him. Coghlan isn't great, but he would have easily been 4th best offensive player on the Sox last year (including Frazier)
  14. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) Or could it be the fact that they are truly done? I really don't know at this point but what I do know is they have officially pissed me off. Not based off of what Hahn said today David Kaplan ‏@thekapman 1h1 hour ago Rick Hahn on @ESPN1000: "I fully expect that we'll make another move for 2016. But, until it happens you never know if it will get done."
  15. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) It begs the question: What the hell are waiting on? Seeing Coghlan go for so cheap makes me think they're targeting someone specifically. Ethier remains the likely target, IMO
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 07:16 PM) From Baltimore. I think that line is now standard in prepping to talk to the press after you sign a free agent contract, but he definitely did. Jesse Rogers ‏@ESPNChiCubs 5m5 minutes ago Press conference over. @DexterFowler says he has no idea why it was reported he signed with BaltimoreTurned down more $$ there and elsehwere
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 07:13 PM) I don't give a f*** what the reason is, Sox fans have the right to be pissed off about this. He just said he turned down more money elsewhere
  18. Cubs are going to regret not getting that 2nd round pick
  19. Kaplan thinks they trade Soler now. If it's for Ross...good lord
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 05:48 PM) This means they have to be trading Soler correct, or where would he play? Would Fowler come back to play part-time? That makes zero sense. Could easily be rotation between Soler, Fowler and Schwarber
  21. Can't imagine the outrage if it was Sox who supposedly reached an agreement with him
  22. I bet coghlan trade means Austin Jackson back to Cubs
  23. Iowa peaked too early. Playing like garbage of late
  24. QUOTE (Saufley @ Feb 24, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) Are they really risking their jobs? You know this organization. Ventura...absolutely
