  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) Wasn't Paddy influential with the Santos trade? Molina had awesome numbers but he was ranked fairly down the Blue Jays prospect list. IIRC during the teleconference discussing the trade, KW was under the impression he was playing in the Winter League, which he was not, and he was using his numbers from a year earlier when he was. The trades turn out to be nothing for nothing but the point I was making was that doesn't mean no harm no foul. When you don't have a ton of assets, you need to get something when you are giving them up. Of course it hurts, as it's a waste of resources the Sox had.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) Chris Sale helping the Cubs to a WS would be a devastating blow to this White Sox fan. There is no way if I am Rick Hahn, I would trade Sale to the Cubs unless it was the overpay of all overpays. +10000000000000000000000
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) With the rotation set up we have, and Fulmer on the way, if anyone goes, Q makes the most sense by far. It would be splendid if Johnson can come up in a month or so and earn the 5th starter spot for next year. It's not likely, but much more possible than it was heading into the season.
  4. It's crazy how both the Santos and Reed trades worked out. The Sox sold at the perfect time on both of the guys, with both of them turning into bad pitchers. It's just too bad the scouting part of the return in the trade failed. Molina was simply a terrible idea by the organization, as not many people even viewed him as a starter when he was acquired. Not only that, but most teams didn't know Santos was available, and judging by other closers that were traded that offseason, it seems a higher return was very possible. As far as Davidson goes, I think it was a good risk, but unfortunately it appears something happened between 2013 and 2014 and Davidson hasn't been able to recover. I do think they should give him a shot after they sell away players next month, as it wouldn't hurt to see if something can click at the big league level. There's not a lot of use in having him repeat AAA for a 3rd season next year.
  5. With Zimmerman hurt, I really would like to see the Sox try to unload LaRoche back to Washington. They love him there, and it wouldn't shock me if some of their struggles are due to missing his leadership. Getting out of his remaining salary would be a nice start at creating payroll flexibility.
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) Yet, you think they'll give up Stroman for a rental? No clue, but wouldn't shock me if Hoffman is viewed as a potential ace by Toronto, and Stroman more as a middle rotation type guy.
  7. The Cubs a few years ago hired the Vandy pitching coach based off of his track record. Definitely won't hurt them when they go after Price this offseason.
  8. Personally, I'd ask for Grandal, Seager and Urias for Sale and Danks. Wouldn't mind getting a quality starting catcher and 2 of the top 5 prospects in all of baseball while freeing up money with Danks gone.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) Hinrich for Boogie. done Well, there's a good chance Thibs will become the Kings coach sometime in the next few years given their owner's love of firing guys.
  10. Great article on Fulmer. Needless to say, Vandy doesn't expect him not to sign http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/cws...mmodores-brink/
  11. I don't think there's a chance Toronto will give up Hoffman for a rental.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) Agreed. Hoffman or Pentecost would be the main piece coming back in a deal in my opinion. Reid Foley, Smith, Jimenez, and Lugo are interesting names as well. Pompey has some exciting skills. As for going after injured guys, I still love the idea of going after Stroman.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 05:04 AM) I know it won't happen, but I still think Quintana to the Cubs for Schwarber & Baez makes too much sense for both teams. I don't think the Cubs would give up that much
  14. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 03:17 AM) This White Sox reminds me a lot of the Bears season. There were expectations coming into the season for both teams, and both just embarrassed themselves with horrible fundamental play. How many games have we seen the White Sox just struggle to play defense? Base running? Everything generally looks worse when a team doesn't hit, but the White Sox aren't playing tricks on your eyes. Not only do they not hit, but they don't field or run the bases. It's probably too late to fire Robin Ventura and hope for any difference, I doubt it even would have mattered. I feel sorry for Carlos Sanchez, he looks so overmatched at the plate; I feel how he hits is how i would hit, little dribblers and weak popups, but he's not the only one. 3B, C and 2B are guaranteed outs. John Danks is a human gas can. The rest of the rotation, outside Sale, has been up and down. This looks like a 70-75 win team. If everything goes right. As for next year, sure seems like there is one rotation spot open and 2b/ss/3b/c starting spots. Hahn has his work cut out for him. Kind of funny how the Cubs strength is the Sox weakness, and the Cubs would love to have the young arms of the Sox
  15. Really wish they would call up Johnson and give him rest of the year to get used to speed of the game at this level.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 02:45 AM) Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisMLB 6m6 minutes ago Ceiling is frontline starter. Has that stuff. @SSS_joshnelson: With Fulmer joining the @WhiteSox - what do you think his ceiling is? Sale Rodon Shark Quintana Fulmer EJ, Montas, Danish, Beck in the wings. Staff looks real good to me. Just get some hitters lol Danish and Beck don't look like MLB starters to me. Would love to use Danish as trade bait if he has value
  17. Bryant is going to put up silly numbers with wind blowing out in the summer. Cubs looking very dangerous, especially if they add someone like Hamels.
  18. 1 homer in last 7 road games
  19. So balta, are you rooting for the Sox to lose right now? Honest question
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 03:22 AM) Sox have 10 hits and two walks and 2 runs?? How the hell is that possible (just tuned in)? Hey, at least the Sox had a few hits. Outside of that, one of the worst games they've played all year. Terrible pitching/defense/base running.
  21. Twins continue to make the Sox their b**** I would be hopeful a performance like this would lead to some changes, but we all know they're too scared to do anything.
  22. These catchers are dreadful at blocking pitches in the dirt
  23. Carroll almost caused a "Cliff Floyd-moment" for Abreu
  24. I know most teams have former players go to the MLB draft to announce the selections, but Danks should really go next year. He's played a huge role in getting the Sox very high picks.
  25. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 02:08 AM) if they're gonna pay this trash anyways, why not DFA him and give someone else a shot? Cubs have actually benefited from moving Wood and Jackson so quickly to the pen.
