Just tuned in. Quintana must be pitching decently, and I like my chances against the Tiger pen down only one run.
Free Joba!
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:48 PM)
Every time an opponent scores a run it does not require a player or coach to be fired, traded or released. Q pitched around it and did fine, let us calm ourselves.
The team hasn't held runners on all year, and the defense makes multiple costly plays on nearly a daily basis. It's not like any of this is surprising.
QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 7, 2015 -> 07:43 PM)
Sox need to trade Carlos Sanchez soon while his value is sky high to fix one 9f the many problems they have (3B, SS, C, SP)
No one's going to give up much for someone that's a projected utility player. Right now, the biggest trade chip the Sox have (realistically) is Samardzija. I would say everyone else has minimal value or is struggling to the point their value isn't worth dealing them (Alexei)
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 07:41 PM)
And there is an unearned, earned run.
The defense, as well as the ability to hold runners, has been a joke this year. Such a lack of focus by so many players.
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 7, 2015 -> 07:32 PM)
Almost no "clutch" hitting . Avi and Melky last night being the exception. We always seem to be stranding 2 guys.
Seems like very few extra base hits with guys on base (Melky homer last night excluded). Not just homers, but especially doubles.
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:31 PM)
The one place ? To the SS or back to the pitcher would've been easy DP's too ? Regardless it wasn't the fly ball we needed .
You hit to the big part of the field. I joked that a 5-4-3 TP was coming up, as we've seen him hit that same ball so often this year.
Something that makes the offensive struggles even worse is that a majority of the runs the sox have scored lately were thanks in part to an error by the opposition or misplay (last night's big inning doesn't happen if Eaton's liner is caught)
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:28 PM)
Its time for him to start batting 8th or 9th. If the middle order guys are starting to get it he cant be down there doing this, when he heats up bring him back but for now its brutal.
He just has to stop pulling the ball like that in double play situations. Does he not realize the game plan the opposing pitcher has in that situation?
QUOTE (shysocks @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:27 PM)
I mean he just has no idea what he's doing. FFS.
Really would have been nice if they could have cashed him in this offseason
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:07 PM)
According to the stats I just saw, Eaton doesn't have an RBI all year. Is he overrated or just slumping? On base percentage sucks.
Obviously slumping, hopefully it's just a slump and last year wasn't a fluke. I really wish he could be moved down in the order and bat 9th right now, but it's not like anyone else is making a strong case for #1.
Just saw the highlight of the wild pitch that scored the run....Flowers has got to keep that in front of him. Similar to his lazy effort in Q's last game.
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:02 PM)
Our offense is just bad.. Better step it up the 2nd time through the order
Just not constructed to hit LHP. Realistically, Abreu/Avi/Flowers/Beckham are only guys I trust vs LHP right now.
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 7, 2015 -> 06:54 PM)
He's going to have to get Cespedes out at some point this season, dont just run and hide from the guy.
Hopefully it works, but you have a guy that owns Q followed by the struggling Martinez.
Some of the numbers for the team vs LHP are crazy bad:
Alexei: 1-15, no walks
Melky: 2-28, 1 walk
Abreu: 4-23, 1 2b, 1 HR, 2 walks
LaRoche: 5-24, 1 walk
Moral of the story is: cut Bonifacio, bring back Viciedo!
