  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 01:35 AM) The last TWO nights? That is 8 in a row But at least they seemed to care in the Yankees series. The last two nights have been just ridiculous. Stoney and Hawk keep saying they don't want to play the younger guys because of respect to teams in a pennant race, but continuing to play the veterans is probably making it easier for the opposition to win.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 01:34 AM) The Sox are very good at being very bad. So there is a positive in this season Yep, Ventura should be known as Mr. September. We're coming for you Marlins!
  3. What a pathetic effort the last two nights.
  4. Barring something crazy, only 2.5 back of the Marlins after tonight!
  5. Phegley hits a ton of weak grounders up the middle that he barely gets thrown out on.
  6. Shocking that Danks can't keep the ball in the park. I miss the White Sox having home run hitters throughout their lineup.
  7. Even Hawk admitting Beckham is awful right now.
  8. Beckham's decent season at the plate is slipping away. He looks completely gassed.
  9. No Avi, no Semien...no care. I can't believe they're giving Keppinger more at bats against RHP than seeing what Semien can do. 1. Alejandro De Aza (L) CF 2. Gordon Beckham ® 2B 3. Jeff Keppinger ® 3B 4. Adam Dunn (L) DH 5. Paul Konerko ® 1B 6. Jordan Danks (L) RF 7. Dayan Viciedo ® LF 8. Josh Phegley ® C 9. Leury Garcia (S) SS
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) I get the sense that Beckham is never going to be traded as a complimentary piece like that...at least not in the next year or two. Outside of Sale and Avi, Beckham seemingly has the most job security of anyone on the team. If not, Hawk is going to be heartbroken. They were making fun of Hawk on the score yesterday for saying Beckham will be the best player on the team in a few years.
  11. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 06:58 PM) We're all familiar with Phegley's history. That was no normal spike though. That was like a Brady Anderson lite spike. As far as Flowers' approach. It's not that he's guessing as much as he's not aggressive early in the count. He's constantly falling behind in the count and doesn't have the bat speed to fight off pitches consistently. He takes a ton of called 3rd strikes on center-cut pitches.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 07:29 PM) I don't know about anyone else, but I flat out have no idea what we have in Phegley and Flowers at catcher, after hearing of Flowers injury. I despise Flowers' guess approach at the plate. That might be able to work in the minors, but in the majors, it's badly exposed his batting eye. Personally, if you want to contend, neither Phegley or Flowers is starting caliber IMO. Both would make a good back-up catcher to a strong lefty hitting catcher.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 04:41 PM) It sounds strange, but I'd feel much better if the Sox took the top pitcher on the board than if they took the top hitter. Me too, and given the struggles of Hawkins, I wonder when the next time will be that they take a high schooler with their first pick? From listening to Hawk and Stoney, they definitely don't like the idea of taking high school pitchers too high.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 01:58 AM) Do you trust one of these college guys to be an impact hitter, though? What about that can't miss guy we got from Auburn or wherever, Mitchell. Isn't he looking like a big bust? I'd sign Abreu and some free agents and try to totally rebuild the lineup with $$$ in one offseason. If the Sox could get someone like Kris Bryant with the 3rd pick, that player would automatically become their best offensive prospect in a very long time.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 02:43 AM) Hows that working out for the Sox? It worked out well with Sale, who is the level of prospect that could possibly be available in the top 3.

Didn't BP suggest he could be a valuable reliever?
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 01:49 AM) Yeah our offense is quite putrid. We stand about a 5 percent chance of beating any team in an East Division ballpark with this current lineup. But no matter who we draft, it'll take forever for that player to reach the bigs and I have no confidence our ownership will pick the right guy. I probably should stop being a Sox fan considering how little I believe in them right now. I really wish you would stop saying this. It seems like collegiate-level players are being rushed to the majors very quickly, and given the Sox and their love of rushing their prospects through the system, I'll be stunned if they don't have their top pick on the fast track to the majors.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 01:43 AM) LOL at the White Sox trying to beat the Red Sox, Yankees and Orioles. This is truly one of the least competitive teams in Sox history. They stand no chance of winning with this collection of everyday players. The good starting pitching hasn't helped at all. Which is one of the reasons a lot of us want them to get the highest draft slot possible so they can have the best chance possible to bring in an impact prospect. There is a giant gap in talent level though on the offensive end between the Sox and these other teams.
  19. What an awful offensive effort. Beckham's getting overpowered by 92 mph fastballs tonight.
  20. Anderson catching, no Semien
  21. Johnson threw 4 different pitches tonight, with them ranking IMO 1- slider 2- fastball 3- curve 4- changeup It was nice to see someone who's supposed to throw in the low 90s actually hit that mark and not in the high 80s
  22. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 01:57 AM) Semien looks like Lance Johnson. He looks like he could be Randy Winn's twin
  23. This has been a very fun inning
  24. Very good game for Avi tonight!
