  1. I wonder where Jacobs would have ranked heading into the season if he was on the White Sox?
  2. I don't mind this trade by Kenny Williams It's funny, as I got done reading the newest BA that says Jacobs was the biggest disappointment of the first half for Red Sox farm system.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 03:57 AM) This means Dayan or De Aza better start packing their bags. Why's that?

Tim Anderson with 3 more K, as he's striking out a lot more than expected. Semien continues to impress
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 08:51 PM) To be fair...the Pirates did pretty much help them out on that one. Something tells me the Pirates won't be doing that in the next couple seasons. Nope, the Padres will
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 08:34 PM) Baseball America's Top 100 Prospect Rankings in 2002: 2. Mark Prior, rhp, Cubs 6. Juan Cruz, rhp, Cubs 40. Hee Seop Choi, 1b, Cubs 45. David Kelton, 3b, Cubs 48. Bobby Hill, 2b, Cubs 68. Nic Jackson, of, Cubs 80. Carlos Zambrano, rhp, Cubs So they got D. Lee and Aramis out of that to go along with Zambrano and a few dominating years from Prior.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 09:07 PM) (Do they? I haven't been impressed by what I've seen at the upper levels of their farm system. I'd go so far as to say they have nice lower-levels in their farm system). The Cubs are going to have a top 5, if not higher, farm system after this season. Some experts are stating their power hitting collection of prospects is easily the best in baseball. Like we've said though, they're going to have to use some of those guys to obtain pitching.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) Alexei came up lame there, grabbing hamstring. Unclear if a pull or a cramp. Looked more like a pull to me, but what do I know Stunning news...not
  9. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 07:26 PM) Alexei hurtin What happened?
  10. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 06:03 PM) Sale's velocity not so nice right now. Throwing 110 pitches or more in 8 of last 11 starts isn't helping
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 04:35 AM) Would never make sense for them. He's the one guy they NEED on their big league team next year. Everyone else is fair game and there is plenty of talent in the "everyone else" group swing a deal. Of the 4 guys you mentioned, I don't think any of them have a truly high ceiling. I'm not a huge fan of Wacha.
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 03:36 AM) Who's gonna pitch for the cubs in 2017 when that lineup is in the majors? They have tons of money so I guess that's the answer. I think Castro and Baez are busts...rizzo might hold his own. The lower crop looks pretty good though. I like our position way better. I was just reading tonight that people expect them to be one of the contenders for Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez. Also, how can you say Baez is a bust?
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 03:19 AM) I would trade Sale for Matt Adams, Kolten Wong, Michael Wacha, and Stephen Piscotty. We get three guys you can pretty much plug right in, they get an ace without really shaking up the big league club's plans. Our pitching will still be great and Wacha can walk right in and be a potential ace as well. No way do you make a trade with the Cards without getting Taveras in return.
  14. Remember when a Chicago media member said Samardzija was the true ace in Chicago because he shut out the powerhouse White Sox lineup? After tonight's game, he has a 4.06 ERA.
  15. These non-prospects called up from the minors (Tekotte, Troncoso) are horrible
  16. He's got to get it going, as he's now 1 for his last 24.
  17. Beckham is freaking awesome
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 02:18 AM) Honestly the entire pen has been meh lately, pick your poison You would figure this was a game they would actually try and win. Oh well, if it means we're one step closer to Axelrod being replaced, then it was worth it.
  19. Ok, DFA Troncoso He's one of the worst players to wear a Sox jersey in a while.

Thompson's season is like an upside-down U right now
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 02:11 AM) This is where Cabrera destroys I can't believe Troncoso was the choice by Ventura there. Also, generally you want to bring in the reliever to get the guy out before Cabrera to avoid a big situation like that.
  22. Two really bad pitchers on the mound, it's crazy that Porcello still has trade value.
  23. From a pure cosmetic point of view, it would be nice to see Gillaspie get to 15 HR this year

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 12:20 AM) Alright, to get back on track, Semien & Walker with back to back hits to start the game and take an early lead. As I mentioned in another thread, Semien now has an .800 OPS on the season, which puts him 10th in the Sourthern League. He has 27 XBHs (14 2Bs, 4 3Bs, 9 HRs), 16 SBs (at an 80% clip), and a BB to K ratio of 63:58. His .386 OBP is 3rd overall in the league. A 22 year old middle infielder playing very well in AA and he doesn't even crack the top 10 in a poor system? I think we all may be sleeping on Semien quite a bit, myself included. Semien and M. Johnson absolutely should be above Webb, IMO
  25. What a pathetic start by Axelrod. In his last 5 innings, he's now given up 15 hits.
