Good stuff in this article about the type of teammate LaRoche is http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/natio...6985_story.html

Bring in Will Bynum!

There was talk of the Sox looking at Leake last offseason. With that said, the starting pitching looks very thin if you give up Quintana.

Gesell is just not a very good player. Iowa has a very good frontcourt, but a poor backcourt.

Whenever I saw Ethier hit last year, he looked like someone who lost a lot of bat speed. Unless it's a deal for Danks, I don't want him in any deal where the Sox are giving up something good.

Great signing!

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 05:22 PM) Please be Joc, please be Joc Alexei for Joc makes sense for both teams.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 10:57 PM) So Castro is now the best available catcher pretty much, right? Montero...heard the Cubs linked to him

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 06:06 PM) Plus Piscotty and Grichuk Beckham would actually be a great bench fit for them

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 06:01 PM) The Cardinals have depth everywhere. They're the most insulated team in baseball. Projected lineup of: Carpenter, Heyward, Holiday, Adams, Peralta, Molina, Jay, Wong Rotation: Wainwright, Lynn, Lackey, Wacha, Gonzales/Garcia/Martinez Bullpen: Rosenthal, Walden, Maness

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 06:14 PM) And people thought Hayward wasn't going to get traded. Wow, what a steal by the Cardinals. Still have Wainwright, Lynn, Lackey, Wacha, Gonzales, Garcia (if healthy). I'm sure they'll add some depth.

Good deal for Cardinals, as they had soured on Miller.

Baez, Wellington, Edwards and someone like McKinney would definitely get Hamels.

The Sox have always liked Castro, as there were rumors he was their guy in the draft if Beckham wasn't on the board.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 11:15 PM) Whelp I'm disappointed but not mad at all. $70 mil I'd rather spend money on other areas. Agreed, especially when you take into account the value of a high 2nd round draft pick.

3:57pm: The new contract will guarantee Martinez roughly $70MM over its four-year term, reports Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes (Spanish link).

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) That was great lol.. I need to start watching Tosh.0 again. The Web Redemptions have been awful this season, but this skit and the Kiffin skit were simply amazing.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 10:23 PM) This is doubly awesome. White Sox evade another albatross deal and more bad money for the Tigers ensuring their window not only shuts, but slams shut. It's a good move for the Tigers, as their window is only the next 1-2 years anyways.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 02:34 AM) Zimmerman is a monster. How many years does he have until FA? I would ask for more than Castro if I was the Nationals...Castro and CJ Edwards, maybe. 1 year before free agency, but sounds like Cubs will only do the deal if they can extend him.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 03:24 AM) Could very well be Castro. I'm sure its more than Castro but he makes sense. Zimmerman, Lester and Arrieta is a pretty formidable front 3. Going off of last year's stats, it would easily be the best in baseball. Hopefully it's not for Baez, as I don't think he's a difference maker.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 02:10 AM) Didn't think the Nat's would consider trading Zimmerman. Cubs must be making quite an offer. Wouldn't shock me if it's for Castro. If Cubs get Zimmermann and then sign Lester/Martin....well, they have a chance to be damn good

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 03:08 AM) Honestly, what do you do tomorrow if you are Phil Emery? Pray the Cubs make another big transaction

You know it's bad when Cutler's wife is liked more in Chicago than he is.

Cutler with just awful awareness there. There's no reason for him to play in the 2nd half.

Holy smokes, this is incredible. This team has flat out quit the last two games.
