QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Because after next weekend, neither team will have played Texas, and ND's SOS will still be ahead of KSU even if USC loses to UCLA, but not by as much. Forgot KSU wasn't playing next week (you could have just said they were off right away ). However, it would still mean after the regular season, K St. is very likely to have a higher SOS.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) Texas is irrelevant to the rankings after next week's games. Because? Also, what happens to ND's SOS if USC loses to UCLA this weekend.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) ND won't stay ahead of KSU after this week's games, but they will go back ahead after next week's games. So if ND is below KSU after this week, how would they then go ahead after Texas is ranked higher than USC?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) Yes, that's what I'm using. So how would ND stay ahead of K St. if it's that close already and K St. is playing a top 35 team while ND is playing a team in the 70-80 range?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) After next week's games, ND's SOS will be higher than KSU, and I'm sorry that it's so hard for you to figure out why. What proof do you have of this? Are you going off the SOS that shows ND is 28th and K St. is 29th?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) Next week, ND's SOS will be higher than KSU. How do you figure? ND is 28th, K St is 29th. Baylor is ranked significantly higher than Wake Forest and Texas is ranked higher than USC. Now if Stanford beats Oregon, then ND's SOS would probably stay higher.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) And then next week ND plays USC and it will flip back. KSU is also in a conference without divisions so they have to play every good team in their conference. Alabama did not play Florida, South Carolina, or Georgia yet somehow gets to brag about how difficult it is to play in the SEC. With Texas being ranked higher than USC, K St. will stay higher than them in SOS.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) No, you see a lot of teams that Top 25 teams schedule as their non-conference games. So the worst teams on ND's schedule are beating the snot out of the worst teams on everybody else's schedule. That's what makes ND's schedule strength so much higher. Plus factor in that every conference has 1-3 teams like Indiana that they get to play on top of the weak non-conference opponents. Even in a year where Oklahoma, Stanford, Michigan, Michigan State, and USC were all worse than anticipated, ND's schedule is still going to rate as tougher than KSU or Oregon. Navy doesn't drag the schedule strength down nearly as far as all those directional schools. After this weekend, Kansas St's schedule is going to be rated harder than Notre Dame's.

First big move of the offseason prediction contest
Wasn't Michael Young one of the worst players in the AL last year with regards to WAR?

Even before last weekend, Manziel should have been in the top 3 for Heisman with Klein and Barner. The whole idea of not giving the Heisman to a freshman is ridiculous, especially one on pace to put up better numbers than Tebow did during his Heisman year and Newton during his (in the same conference). Mariota should probably be 3rd in the Heisman race after Klein and Manziel, as he runs that Oregon offense better than any of the other stud QBs they've had. The fact people consider Te'o a legitimate contender is ridiculous, as I would say that he's probably not even the best defensive player on his team (Tuitt or Nix) and was pretty much non-existent for a majority of the last two games.

QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 12, 2012 -> 05:28 AM) Campbell is checking down before primary receivers are out of their breaks. Same thing he did all preseason. If Cutler is out for an extended time, Bears could have a very bad losing streak.

4 Sox players are on the trading block
Only reason they trade ADA is if they feel he can't last defensively in CF. There were rumblings about this at the end of this past season. If they can sell high on ADA, I have no problem with that.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) Oklahoma and Stanford are both top-15 teams. Miami and Michigan are unranked but might win their conferences. BYU and Michigan State have mediocre records but against a tough schedules so their computer rankings are high. Purdue and Navy aren't very good but they're better than the two worst teams on most schedules. Most teams have a couple lower division MAC or SBC teams or even FBS teams on their schedule. It will be interesting to see how big of an impact BC has on those rankings. I know Sagarin has them at 134.

QUOTE (pktmotion @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 02:17 AM) I'd like that rotation as well. Maybe Floyd + prospects could be packaged for a young 3B and a left-handed catcher: Kyle Seager/John Jaso? For Floyd? Seager had a very good year last year for Seattle. Just for him, the Sox would likely have to include more than Floyd. Floyd doesn't have that much value due to his pending free agent status after 2013.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Nov 4, 2012 -> 05:31 PM) Well considering Oklahoma lost to ND that usually moves you down in the rankings. At the time Oklahoma was higer then OSU will be when/if Oregon beats them. Oklahoma has only lost to one of the top 4 teams in the nation and kept it close until the 4Q in both games. Oklahoma as of right now is a better win then OSU. Oklahoma has done very little to be ranked as high as they are, in my opinion. Lost two home games and their best win of the year was vs Texas. Oregon State's win at UCLA is right up there with Oklahoma's best. Outside of the top 9 though in the BCS standings, no one has a really big win.
