  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) This home plate ump is f***ing blind. He called a totally fair ball foul and then Cain was out by an entire foot. It's the Angel Hernandez crew...they always suck
  2. Got to get out of this inning with the score tied.
  3. Butler continues to own Chris Sale
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) Good at bat by Escobar. Royals working Sale over. They've seen him so much this year, they don't seem to be fooled by anything.
  5. Olmedo's career stats vs LHP are terrible. Under a .475 OPS now.
  6. Ho hum, Viciedo crushes the soft-tossing LHP!
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 06:22 PM) I had mentioned before that Reed and other youngsters were giving up too many hits and walks and always seemd to have to work out of a jam. I think the magic word here is youngsters. Little or no major league expereince coming in this year. They will get better I think but this year that inexperience could be the death of us. It's not just the youngsters. It seems like Sox pitching is giving up a ton of runners of late.
  8. QUOTE (Lillian @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:54 PM) Are you sure that Jones is worse? In his last 19 appearances, dating back to July 22ND, which is the same period that Reed has failed to have even a single "three up, three down" inning, Jones has only allowed 2 earned runs in 15.1 innings, with 12 stikeouts and 6 walks. He appears to be getting better, with more experience. He does have the raw stuff to close. I hope he can develop a really good off speed pitch to go along with his 98 to 100 MPH fast ball. Nate could be our closer next year, if not sooner. What Nate needs to learn is how to pitch inside to righties. Everything is away, away, away to righties.
  9. Wise - 8 Ramirez - 6 Viciedo - 7 Konerko - 3 Rios - 9 AJ - DH Flowers - 2 Olmedo - 5 Beckham - 4 Only change I really would have liked to seen is Lopez playing against the LHP, as Olmedo struggles against LHP
  10. I wonder if he'll DH AJ today and play Flowers at catcher? Seems likely Lopez plays at 3rd again today, as both Youk/Dunn aren't expected back until tomorrow at the earliest. I'd like to see this lineup: - De Aza - Ramirez - Rios - Konerko - AJ - Viciedo - Flowers - Lopez - Beckham
  11. Some good video of Thompson hitting some long home runs http://www.milb.com/search/media.jsp?query...;hitsPerSite=10
  12. Still in first!
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:27 AM) Scherzer still throwing 98 in the 8th. Stud. He's better than Verlander right now
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:02 AM) Exactly. They cannot beat KC or Detroit. Just pencil those games in as losses. Sox will be lucky to win two of their next six games. No matter who our hitting coach is, the offense is home run or nothing, which is fine when we are blasting home runs. The team can't get runners in from third base with less than two outs in games that matter. The team can't move runners. The bullpen remains crap no matter who the manager is or how much power Coop has. I think KC and Detroit are putting this Sox team out of its misery. It's a very very mediocre baseball team. I think Ventura will be manager of the year for getting it as far as it has gone. The starting pitching is average at best and the bullpen is one of the worst in baseball and the lineup is all or nothing HR wise. It's pretty bad when the Sox have no chance each and every time they play KC. No, it's really not. I think people underestimate how much injuries have killed the depth on this team.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 04:37 AM) I would definitely agree if the statement looked like this. Their individual stats haven't been terrible this year, even though Reed is easily the worst of our relievers now.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 03:21 AM) You gotta chill out...we haven't played well for about 10 days. That's okay. We haven't been healthy either, hardly seen anything from Dunn and Youk is hurting as well (I realize he just had a child). Let's see how this series ends and how we play the Tigs at home. It's easy to read into everything that happens into the final month, but this season is more than that. We've won some huge games and have shown some major cajones. Those things still count when we can't pull through. Don't forget to look at the whole picture. Dismissing all important wins as mere happenstance and seeing every failure as proof of our mediocrity doesn't make any sense. If you were a baseball player with that attitude, you'd be Gordon Beckham. Well, if you look at the whole picture (stats on the year), you'd see that something killing the Sox is their bullpen management.
  17. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 03:20 AM) I don't recall any KC player being brushed back or even shown a message not to dig in I believe every homer Cain's hit against the Sox this year has been on sliders.
  18. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 03:16 AM) LOL! Kenny wanted to show everybody in the off season how smart he was by bypassing Sandy Alomar Jr. and hiring somebody with no coaching or managerial experience just so Don Cooper can have more power. Now we all are paying the price. Serves Williams right. Great post as well
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 04:16 AM) Ramirez rips a homer to tie the game the previous AB. Notorious fastball hitter, Mr. Ramirez. Beckham, all season long, has been hitting about 0.050 against anything over 95 MPH. Herrera, 96-101 MPH fastball. Beckham, DEAD. Surprise? Shouldn't have been. If you bunt with Ramirez, then you have Johnson come up for Beckham. They had a LHP warming up, so either you get them to bring in the LHP (and then you can use Flowers, who's great vs LHP) or they walk Johnson to bring up De Aza/let Johnson face the righty.
  20. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 03:14 AM) I blame the green manager. :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 03:13 AM) Glad to see gross overreactions in the game thread. So please tell us what's been said that's completely false?
  22. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 04:10 AM) Should've been all over that one. Yes he should have been
  23. Damn jinx of the bullpen thread from a month ago
  24. Don't forget that Flowers is up after Rios since AJ was PR for
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 03:04 AM) So tomorrow Chen and his 5.5 ERA mows down the Sox, then we get swept Sunday. Pennant races are so much fun. I think they're score a lot off of Chen tomorrow
