  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:31 AM) Sure they are the better team, but the Sox had put themselves in a position of power by beating teams better than the White Sox. They were in position where one win would have had them in great shape. They lose all 3. Even if you don't have the better team you can win a game or two. The Royals just took 3 from them. Are the Royals the better team? Of course not. Tigers are a completely different monster at home compared to on the road. Sox also had to face 2 of the best pitchers on the planet over the last few months. KC didn't have to face Scherzer.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:30 AM) Youkilis has a 1.195 OPS at home and coming into tonight, a .180 batting average and .568 OPS on the road. Padres and Rockies don't have splits that radically different. So many red flags with him not to bring him back next year.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:25 AM) Nothing you can really say about it. It is what it is. Not even really mad or upset, what did we realistically expect after losing the first two games?? I was way angrier in 2005 with the Indians charging hard and when the team was throwing away games in 2006 and 2010 (the Thome game). I flat out believe Tigers are the better, deeper team now. No shame in that, but I know a lot of people don't believe they're the better team.
  4. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:24 AM) What would you call it? They have led the division pretty much all year. They just got swept by the team behind them. They played like s*** in Baltimore. Make no mistake, they are choking. They've lost to teams playing better baseball this week. Tigers have been simply sensational on the road, and I know people will point to the Tigers/KC series as proof they were slumping, but all three of those games were extremely fluky losses.
  5. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:21 AM) He hit .231 with a sub 700 Ops in August. Yet we keep trotting him out there in the 4 hole. Wise gets bumped to the 3 hole because our manager is incapable of creativity. Dunn hit 3, his replacement must hit 3. You know I've been all for shuffling the lineup, but who's even worthy of being moved up in the order? Rios has struggled ever since the league realized he destroys anything on the inner half.
  6. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:21 AM) If you consider choking away a division and playoff appearance fun, then yep, it's gonna be a f***ing blast. I don't consider this choking.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:18 AM) So pathetic I'm shocked a team with this lineup can't beat Verlander. Thing is, I don't even fault Ventura for this lineup. Just too many injuries/players slumping/busts to put a competitive lineup on the field right now.
  8. Hudson hit a rocket, just right at Prince
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:17 AM) So true. Particularly on the road. Alexei's foolishly trying to hit a home run to the opposite field instead of trying to bunt against Cabrera. They've just made things way too easy for the Tigers this weekend.
  10. "If you're a Tigers 6th inning pitcher, then you might as well not show up when Verlander is starting". Well, looks like these dumbasses forgot to look at his last start.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:15 AM) It's weird because you can't say PK has had a good season, he hasn't driven in any runs. A good month could probably make his season look good, though. I think he's had a solid year for him, but after the first few months, you thought he was headed for a huge season. He went from "can he hit .400" to probably hitting below .300.
  12. BTW, thanks again Ozzie for having Garcia plunk Delmon Young in his debut. He's made us his b**** ever since.
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:09 AM) Why to draw a walk? The Ab Friday when he looked at a ball right down the middle at 88 MPH was embarrassing as he then proceeded to whiff on a curve in the dirt. He was in a lot of pain on Friday (which makes you wonder why he was even playing)
  14. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:08 AM) Yet there is still no point in calling for some of the crap some people on here will. There is still 29 games to go. I couldn't agree more with the fact people shouldn't give up on the season after tonight. Still tied with a lot of home games left. The Sox really couldn't have played worse this week. I said a few days ago, but Ventura's legacy for this season will be reflected by how the team performs the 10 days.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:05 AM) That wasn't a bad pitch. Props to Young Needed to just find a way to waste a pitch. 13 pitches to Young tonight, all offspeed pitches.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:06 AM) Looks pretty normal to me? 91-93 this entire game Seriously, I feel you watch different games than everyone else. 93 mph to Peralta was the first time he got there all night.
  17. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:04 AM) Oh just wait until this game is over. People will be calling for a complete overhaul. Well, they sure as hell didn't show up this week on the road. Basically everyone has sucked on the roster this week outside of Axelrod and Veal.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:04 AM) Why shut Sale down? I don't see anything physically holding him back. We have games to win and he's going to help us win them His velocity is way down. I'd rather ensure his health for years to come then to force him face the Royals next weekend.
  19. Ha, now Sale throws 93 mph. Why is he still in this game?
  20. Great, let one of the most despicable people in baseball kill us this series. The pitch calling continues to KILL the White Sox.
  21. And that's the series. Another low and in pitch. Time to shut down Sale for 10 days.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 01:58 AM) I'm not convinced that they're better. Injuries have really hurt the Sox of late
  23. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:56 AM) Detroit is just a better and more talented team They're certainly playing better, but a ton of that has to do with the struggles of Youk and Rios while their 1-5 is playing great. When you're playing badly, you always look worse than you are.
  24. Even on the 3-0 pitch the umpire refuses to call a strike on Cabrera
