  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 12:35 AM) Maybe the intentional strategy is never to throw a pitcher over 90 MPH...he can vary the speed on his fastball by 5-7 MPH, but I doubt that's what is actually happening. Of course that's not the actual strategy. He tried to gas Peralta up and in there and only threw it 90 mph.
  2. ADA got a good jump on that
  3. Verlander's short on his fastball so far, but his hook is nasty. Flowers missed those pitches by a good amount (tough welcome back start for him).
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 01:28 AM) Can they stop kissing his ass? Jesus Christ Did you see how awesome he was covering first base???!!!!
  5. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 12:24 AM) You can take your hand off the panic button for now Fathom. He's throwing 4-5 mph slower than usual. He's not going to get away with 89 mph fastballs all night.
  6. Hey, very nice! Got a lead after the bottom of the inning!!
  7. Leadoff walk, he doesn't have anything on these pitches. Shades of his start in Texas? Fastball between 89-90 mph so far.
  8. Uh oh, not sure if he has his velocity tonight.
  9. Way to go ADA! Righties look overmatched so far, and Rios is hitless for this series. Can Sale give us a lead for a full inning?
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) What's Sale's era if you take out his last start? Once again, I get people are always worried about this kid but he's really given no indication of "slowing down" minus his last start. He's definitely slowed down from his pace pre-ASB, but those numbers would have been nearly impossible to match. The long ball has killed him, as he's given up a homer in 7 straight games.
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) I disagree. John Danks is potenially a huge problem as is the varying degrees of lack of development of Morel, Beckham, and Viciedo. It has not been a good year for the development side of the organization. Sale has been a huge success, but everything with him depends on that touchy elbow. Quintana's been a huge surprise
  12. Why not let Johnson play again vs Verlander? He didn't look bad last night. With that said, injuries are really taking a toll on the Sox it seems. It's been a long time since the 1-5 portion of the offense was healthy at the same time for a series.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 06:27 PM) I'm not kidding; he'd be PERFECT for this staff and missing a guy like Mark is a big reason we prolly won't beat out Detroit. 3.77 ERA on the year in a gigantic pitcher's park. When you add in all the lefties on our staff, I'd say Buehrle is far from a perfect fit.
  14. Profar with homer and double in his first two ABs of his career.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) He's only been just as good, if not better, than scrubs like David Price, CC AND Cliff Lee. Jake Peavy has been better than a couple of other scrubs named Hamels and Cain. But the Sox somehow only have half an ace. Here's the numbers for all those guys since the ASB: Cain: 3.21 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, .249 BAA Hamels: 2.58 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, .241 BAA Lee: 2.90 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, .260 BAA Price: 2.02 ERA, .93 WHIP, .202 BAA Peavy: 4.13 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, .282 BAA Sale: 3.98 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, .266 BAA
  16. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 02:23 AM) What?? Viciedo popped it up?? shocking When's last time he hit an inside fastball from a righty hard? June 28th was the last time he hit a homer off of a RHP to left field.
  17. Nice Hudson! That probably gets him a start tomorrow.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 02:17 AM) Hawk quit begging please. Should be begging for rain tomorrow
  19. Rios has no power to the opposite field.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 02:14 AM) Valverde is such a jag Yeah, that was absolutely ridiculous.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 02:12 AM) Prince told GB he is not a miracle worker.........................Hawk calls tonight performance top 5 against Sox all year. It is, the Sox didn't even come close to scoring.
  22. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 02:08 AM) If this goes bad for the sox they will spin it on how they were never meant to be here and how this is a great season. Is that not true though? You know I hate that type of mentality as much as anyone, but no matter what happens this year, it's been a strong season. Something of note if the Sox don't make the postseason is that thankfully they didn't give up anyone who had a real future in the organization in order to get Youk, Liriano and Myers.
  23. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 03:06 AM) Don't make excuses for Reed, he gives up a run routinely He's had a solid year, but for all the taunting Valverde receives on here, his numbers are way better than Reed so far this year. The Tigers quietly have an excellent bullpen again, as they got rid of some of the guys who were getting rocked earlier in the year (Ballester).
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 03:05 AM) Not tonight everyone knows the fate in this one. Not cause of whether or not Myers would be effective, but because of his games finished clause.
  25. I think the board would have exploded if Myers was coming in Looking forward to seeing Heath pitch.
