King Liriano and the Good Guys Wearing Red vs. Halos
Dunn now 2 for his last 24. Nice to see PK get a hit though!

King Liriano and the Good Guys Wearing Red vs. Halos
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 07:18 PM) No wait, I'm dumb. You were referring to Viciedo's dive that went off the side of his glove, but it looked in realtime as though he might have caught it. Umps got the call right, but RV came out to discuss it with them (left smiling so can't really call it an argument). Anyway, point is, poster is right: we should play this game under protest. Thanks!

Report: Sox unlikely to pick up Youk's option
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 07:12 PM) We're not yet sitting on a prospect beating down the door to replace Beckham (or 3b) though. Might be the case a season from now with Saladino or someone like that, but we're not there yet. Oh, I agree, and that's why I think if Beckham does get traded, it's not for prospects.

Report: Sox unlikely to pick up Youk's option
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) We need a playoff run to start thinking about bringing guys back. Yes, but recent attendance numbers are certainly making things more optimistic regarding future payroll.

Report: Sox unlikely to pick up Youk's option
QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 07:09 PM) I just assumed by the way people around here talk about him that he's gonna be gone soon. If he is gone, he'd likely be traded for another change of scenery player that could possibly start at 2b or 3b

Report: Sox unlikely to pick up Youk's option
QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 07:04 PM) Not only them, but AJ and Beckham too. AJ might not leave but if it is just Peavy/Youk/Beckham, thats still a lot of holes in the rotation to fill I'll be stunned if AJ leaves. At this point, he seems to be in the "JR steps in to negotiate" range as PK and Buehrle were.

Report: Sox unlikely to pick up Youk's option
QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 05:54 PM) What will this team look like next year? Seems like a lot of guys are leaving Think of it as the possibility of payroll flexibility to add some players via free agency. If you're referring to Peavy and Youk possibly leaving via FA, then I say "thanks for your performance in 2012" and gladly take the 31 million dollars and use it elsewhere.

Report: Sox unlikely to pick up Youk's option
Makes sense, as 13 million is a lot for him next year given his medical issues the past few years.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 06:39 PM) Tigers acquired Baker from the Cubs for 2 PTBNL Nice addition for the Tigers, especially with how many lefties the Sox have in the rotation

So how did the Indians think it would be a good idea for Lillibridge to face Scherzer today

8/4 games
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 05:10 PM) Nope, he just sucks. Best case scenario with him is that he's a long term project. To be honest, he shouldn't even be a top 10 prospect for the Sox anymore after this season. Just a horrible year for Molina.

QUOTE (johnnymick @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 05:30 PM) I think we've worn the red jerseys every home Sunday game, so it probably wasn't Liriano who picked them. Yep

King Liriano and the Good Guys Wearing Red vs. Halos
Indians score 2 in the first off of the Tigers, only for the Tigers to come roaring back. They're facing the mighty Chris Seddon today

2013 Rotation
It will be interesting to view this thread in 2 months if Liriano struggles the rest of the year.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
Did Hawk and Stone talk about the protest at all tonight?

Los Medias Blancas vs. Los Angeles 8/4/12
Despite the struggles of the starting rotation and some hitters struggling, it's awesome to see the Sox fight so hard this year. Really exciting games of late, as this is the 5th straight game where the last batter of the game represented the tying or go-ahead run.

Los Medias Blancas vs. Los Angeles 8/4/12
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:40 AM) And KW is more likely to bring his son up to start in LF for Viciedo than to bring back Juan Pierre. In a billion years, it will never happen. Forget it. I haven't heard of this controversy at all

Los Medias Blancas vs. Los Angeles 8/4/12
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:40 AM) Player development takes a very distant back seat to post season baseball. In August and September that shouldn't even enter the discussion for a right-thinking franchise. Laugh all you want about Pierre, but slot his .381 obp behind De Aza and the lineup becomes more formidable. Your first sentence is 100% correct. I don't support Viciedo being a platoon player like you do, but I definitely believe that Danks and/or "waiver pickup" needs to be getting more at bats vs RHP.

Los Medias Blancas vs. Los Angeles 8/4/12
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:35 AM) Thornton is still essentially a one pitch pitcher...and Reed has a better slider than Thornton's, but he still can't throw it very often when he needs it or when he's 2-1 or 2-0 or 3-1. Thornton's slider has been more effective since the ASB than Reed's been, IMO. Thornton's big problem is his fastball has absolutely no zip to it, and he struggles to get the pitch up and in to righties (he used to be amazing at this).

Los Medias Blancas vs. Los Angeles 8/4/12
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:31 AM) We never made Dunn or Rios platoon players despite their struggles last year, it doesn't seem to be the answer to do that to a 23 year old if we want him to develop for the future. The White Sox have been playing so well at home recently because of home runs, mostly. Putting Juan Pierre in LF is not only going to be pointless, it will scare Matt Thornton from ever pitching again in the 9th inning if Juan is out there. Honestly, I'd love to have Pierre on this roster right now so he could start a few games a week against tough RHP and to provide speed off the bench. However, I don't think the Sox would be interested in him again.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:23 AM) One of Beckham or Viciedo can't be a full-time player over the next 2 months. I know you'll get blasted on here for saying that, but I'm beginning to agree with you. Viciedo just doesn't bring enough to the table against RHP right now. As for the bullpen, I wish Ventura had more confidence in letting Nate Jones start an inning. Two straight games where he left the starting pitcher in way too long and both times resulted in a Pujols homer.
