  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:45 AM) Morrissey talked about it in the new Ozzie book quite a bit. Gotcha, thanks
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:40 AM) And KW is more likely to bring his son up to start in LF for Viciedo than to bring back Juan Pierre. In a billion years, it will never happen. Forget it. I haven't heard of this controversy at all
  3. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:40 AM) Player development takes a very distant back seat to post season baseball. In August and September that shouldn't even enter the discussion for a right-thinking franchise. Laugh all you want about Pierre, but slot his .381 obp behind De Aza and the lineup becomes more formidable. Your first sentence is 100% correct. I don't support Viciedo being a platoon player like you do, but I definitely believe that Danks and/or "waiver pickup" needs to be getting more at bats vs RHP.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:35 AM) Thornton is still essentially a one pitch pitcher...and Reed has a better slider than Thornton's, but he still can't throw it very often when he needs it or when he's 2-1 or 2-0 or 3-1. Thornton's slider has been more effective since the ASB than Reed's been, IMO. Thornton's big problem is his fastball has absolutely no zip to it, and he struggles to get the pitch up and in to righties (he used to be amazing at this).
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:31 AM) We never made Dunn or Rios platoon players despite their struggles last year, it doesn't seem to be the answer to do that to a 23 year old if we want him to develop for the future. The White Sox have been playing so well at home recently because of home runs, mostly. Putting Juan Pierre in LF is not only going to be pointless, it will scare Matt Thornton from ever pitching again in the 9th inning if Juan is out there. Honestly, I'd love to have Pierre on this roster right now so he could start a few games a week against tough RHP and to provide speed off the bench. However, I don't think the Sox would be interested in him again.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:23 AM) One of Beckham or Viciedo can't be a full-time player over the next 2 months. I know you'll get blasted on here for saying that, but I'm beginning to agree with you. Viciedo just doesn't bring enough to the table against RHP right now. As for the bullpen, I wish Ventura had more confidence in letting Nate Jones start an inning. Two straight games where he left the starting pitcher in way too long and both times resulted in a Pujols homer.
  7. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:13 AM) You know damn well flowers will be in the lineup tomorrow along with Danks and possibly O dog Righties hit Haren a lot better than lefties do
  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:12 AM) They DFA'd him and then Cleveland worked out a trade. Technically you are correct though. My opinion is we should never have included him in a trade in the first place but I am very happy with getting Youkilis What?! Lillibridge is TERRIBLE this season, and 2011 looks like an absolute fluke season for him.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:10 AM) nah, it's classic thornton. throw a high change to a guy when you're 3-2, 2 out, instead of your best pitch (aka, the fastball). It was a hanging curve/slider, and to be honest, he's gotten more outs on his offspeed pitch of late compared to his fastball.
  10. I really hope that Ventura doesn't automatically bench AJ tomorrow, as the Sox need his bat in the lineup right now. AJ can get his rest on Tuesday against a LHP and then has Thursday off.
  11. Doug Fister's going all 2011 Doug Fister post ASB right now. Hopefully he starts getting rocked again.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:03 AM) Isn't that exactly what we did? We got through 4 innings with no runs scored and 4.1 innings with 1 run scored. Yeah, Ventura clearly is lacking in confidence in Reed right now. That's fine, I'm not upset with using Crain, Myers and Thornton. It was pitching to Kendrick with the open base that made zero sense.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:03 AM) Should the Sox have picked up Lillibomb after Boston released him? NO
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:00 AM) Konerko needs to start hitting to the opposite field again. He did that with a lot of success a few weeks ago to get him out of his one month slump. He just needs to start hitting the ball hard again. It's not like he's hitting into bad luck right now.
  15. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:58 AM) You gotta move Rios up to 3. KW better be active in trying to get another bat to strengthen the bench, as there are a lot of guys that could use a day off but the problem is the bench is just atrocious right now.
  16. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:57 AM) Move him in the offseason Stop
  17. Ventura's decision loses the Sox the game. Hate to see that after they showed a lot of heart to comeback. Dunn, Viciedo, Konerko and Beckham are really struggling to do anything productive for over a week now.
  18. QUOTE (kapzk @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 02:54 AM) PK back to being bad 1 for his last 27, and he hasn't had a clutch hit late in the game for a few months now.
  19. Good game PK...not. Hopefully he is on the bench tomorrow.
  20. Kendrick hits .302 vs LHP, and Wells .190 against LHP. Can I protest that awful managerial decision?
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:50 AM) Holy crap, Thornton got it up to 96! And still sucks
  22. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:50 AM) There it is. Why not walk him? Terrible move by Ventura Yep, inexcusable
  23. Just terrible managing there pitching to Kendrick. So, why wasn't Reed pitching this inning?
  24. Walk Kendrick, go after Wells?
  25. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:43 AM) A high high pop up. So Hawk reacted like it was out?
