  1. QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:16 AM) I'm still clueless as to why Stewart has lost velocity but that thing is really moving tonight Good to hear
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:12 AM) Remember game 163? that was awesome I'm so thankful we won that.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:06 AM) bigger swing next time, gordo 0-10 since he hard hit double off the fence. I guess he's not "back-um".
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:06 AM) Smyly looks very good. How could you pass him over for Jakob Petricka (picked 4 picks earlier)? I don't get upset at those type of things when so many other teams missed out on him also.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:03 AM) I'm going to venture to make an obvious statement that the Tigers are about to go on a run and take off with the division from this point forward... Good, better now than in August
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:00 AM) Nothing looks physically wrong. The stuff is the same, he just sucks How do you explain the loss in velocity? I don't think he's injured, just pressing.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:56 AM) That was indeed awful. And this is why you shouldn't be throwing out UZR numbers in May (Dick Allen). I was thinking that the same Sox scout who said De Aza could play CF better than Rios is same person who must have advocated that Teahen could play 3b.
  8. QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:55 AM) BOOOOOOOOOOO. Get him outta there!!! No way, you need him to suck up some innings here.
  9. Danks vs Dempster won't be pretty next weekend if he doesn't start pitching with more confidence. Oh, and one other tidbit about Farmer. He said that Danks went to University of Texas. How do you get him mixed up with his brother?
  10. Just saw highlight of Prince's double. Ugh, that was not good by Mackowiak out there.
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:50 AM) Danks doesn't have the stuff to put anyone away when he gets 2 strikes on them. That's what happens when you lose velocity on your fastball. He's going to have to come up with a cutter or something if this is going to be his velocity from now on.
  12. Great to see De Aza and Dunn contributing vs LHP. Listening on the radio in the first inning, Farmer and DJ were ripping Danks a lot. Made it sound like he's being stubborn by not throwing his curve enough this year.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:58 PM) Honestly, I expected Viciedo to be a lot worse out there than he has been so far. I don't think he's been bad at all. Rios has been good out there, and De Aza has been a massive disappointment defensively.
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 14, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Detroit, Cardinals, and Brewers are good fits in my mind if they have rotation spots open. If Carpenter returns, Cards are 6 deep in the starting rotation. As for the Brewers, I cannot see them sticking around in contention for a playoff bid with all the injuries they've had. I think Red Sox, Yankees and Blue Jays would be best fit for Peavy, with the Sox taking on a lot of his remaining contract in order to get a better prospect. I don't think the Sox can trade him and get another team to pick up all of his remaining salary for this year/$4 million option decline.
  15. Why would Beckham get Kenny fired? It was a great pick, one that supposedly everyone in the organization was thrilled to see. There's a gigantic difference between making a logical move only for it to not work out (ie: Beckham drafted, Dunn signed to fill DH spot) and making a move that makes no sense to anyone and having it work out pretty much like everyone expected it to (ie: Hudson trade, very possibly the Santos trade also).
  16. Rios slam vs Indians towards end of last year
  17. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 13, 2012 -> 10:16 PM) Has an attendance figure been given for today's game? Looks to be really good actually
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 13, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Royals hammered by every AL team, but the Sox! They've played well on the road.
  19. At least we can't feel sorry for ourselves saying we've faced a ton of aces this year. We miss Verlander, Weaver and Garza this week.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Sox are 9th in the AL in offense right now, 9th with RISP, and were right behind the dominant offense of the Detroit Tigers in 8th. And Cleveland in 7th. Yes, you can pick your certain bad things. Yes, when you compare us to the Rangers, our offense is in rough shape. However, this is no longer the steroid era. We need a hot streak from 1 or 2 guys and we will be sitting there as an average offense. Every single team outside of Texas has "ridiculously poor production" from a couple positions right now. Sox have had quite a few of those so far this year (Dunn, Rios, PK, AJP). It's time for Ramirez/Viciedo to carry us for a week.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) So much for trading AJ and Thornton when they were "hot." KW should be contacting the Nationals today about AJ
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) At some point it might help to recalibrate people to the league no longer being steroid-loaded too, where they expect every game to have 17 runs. League average is 4.32, and Sox are averaging 3.94 this year. You know my belief is this team needs significantly more power production. Getting 1 homer combined from your RF and 3B is ridiculous for mid-May.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2012 -> 09:48 PM) By the way, we haven't won a single series since the Seattle one April 21st and 22nd. That was 3 weeks ago. 6-13 since then, if we lose today. Great pick-up KW. Fukudome should be playing everyday in front of his appreciative fans. Apparently we need to change the majority of our line-up to get consistent clutch hitting...because changing managers and hitting coaches hasn't had much of an effect. Or the talent? This was a lineup with 3 guys who are sure-fire major leaguers today. Once Duffy left the game, this lineup became a joke against RHP. Not Ventura's fault though.
