QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) they just PH Chisenhall for Hafner - I don't get it Probably got hurt in his last at bat

MOREL WALK

There really is so much that can still go positive for the Sox this year, even if they can't catch the Tigers. Seeing De Aza and Flowers fight for at bats, while hoping Rios can start to turn it around are three of the things I'll be watching the closest. It would also be great to see Stewart string together some positive starts the rest of the way.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 08:39 PM) Doug Fister is not a good pitcher. Brad Penny isn't either. I don't think they'd stand a chance in hell getting past Boston. I didn't know Boston and the Yankees had solid rotations either? It should be all about the offense in the AL postseason, as there's some fantastic offensive talent in the Yanks/Red Sox/Rangers/Tigers

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) Viciedo was 2-4 last night. 3-3, 2 HR today. 11 days til the call up. Great to hear

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) Because the Tigers will pitch Verlander on 2 days rest? Verlander, Scherzer, Fister would be their top 3, and I bet they'd go with Penny over Porcello if needed.

Lillibridge in one of those stretches right now where he has such a short, compact swing. Love to see it, as well as De Aza coming up big against a LHP. And balta, wasn't Delmon coming off of a really good month when the Tigers got him?

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 06:49 PM) This is what it looks like when Rios cares, I guess. Missed it, good defense?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) And Rick Porcello would like to remind you about where their weakness is. And he won't be pitching in the postseason
-
It's not fair that a talented offense like Detroit added Delmon Young.
-
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) Beckham just doing his thang, finding fastballs impossible to catch up to and yet again embarrassing himself. As Hawk said, he's just overmatched. Either Walker goes or Beckham goes this offseason, IMO
-
Haha, gotta love taking fastballs right down the plate.

Very small crowd today

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 06:05 PM) I said it weeks ago...the Tigers will clinch with at least a week left in the season and win 87-89 games. Yep, I agree...easily the most talented team in the AL Central. I still think they'll be a lot more dangerous in the postseason than people give them credit for.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) Jimenez a big fat bust so far for tribe. In two years, Pomeranz will be a better starter than Jimenez. Jimenez just looks awful every time I watch him this season.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 06:47 PM) Noticed how Flowers has Santos work batters different from AJ. When AJ's catching, you know that Santos is going to get 2 strikes on guys using the fastball early, and then he's going to bury the slider. Sometimes he'll use an elevated slider as a show-me pitch somewhere in the first 2-3 so that when the good slider comes the batter doesn't recognize, it, but the formula is 2 strikes, then byebye. Flowers was using the wipeout slider much more heavily early in the at bat. Indeed, rarely do you see Santos strike out one batter in an inning with his fastball. Last night, it was two

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 04:12 AM) What's the deal with their attendance? I thought it was way down this year. They just drew 42,343 today the most in 30 years? lolz Cardinals

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 04:02 AM) It's so disheartening when you look at some of these organizations and how they conduct business. Pretty ironic that the 2005 World Series contestants might be the two worst organizations in baseball right now with their long term outlook.

Just a pathetic offensive effort tonight. I'm about 5 days away from rooting for an 0 for the rest of the season for Pierre so that KW doesn't bring him back.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 03:46 AM) Give Kinney some credit, I guess. I liked him in St. Louis, and I remember saying during ST that he'd be up with the team this year. He got shelled a few hours later, and I got made fun of (deservedly so). I will say that it looks like someone made a bad decision in promoting Bruney before him.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 03:43 AM) There's nothing more insulting to the fanbase than trotting out a guy who only wants to trot everyday. Just let De Aza play and sit this guy down until you are out of it, and let Dunn sit next to him. The Sox are setting themselves up for just a gigantic PR disaster if they lose Buehrle this offseason because they're payroll is too high led by guys like Rios and Dunn.

Hawk about to lose it with regards to Rios
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 03:38 AM) Hawk with a slight jab at the attendance. Personally, I think the Sox are getting what they deserve. Did you watch the Tuesday game? Hawk probably made 10 references to the attendance of other teams.
-
28k...will they top that the rest of the year?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 03:26 AM) Off-topic: good luck to whoever has to play the Phillies come October. Easily the most complete team in baseball. Hunter Pence, like I knew he would, has fit in beautifully. Brewers are pretty damn good right now, and Kimbrel has got to be the most electric reliever in baseball this year for the Braves. As a Cubs hater, I enjoy seeing the depth of great teams in the NL.
