I predict Gavin throws at Hammel next inning.
-
There you go Gordon!
-
Hey DAllen...you see Rios' hustle down the line there?
-
Nice "catch" by Juan.
-
All with two outs, as Gavin making a lot of bad pitches now. Need to keep it tied, as our offense lacks the fire power to make up a lot of ground tonight.
-
Gavin's lost his release point since going to the stretch. Big out in this game here.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:27 AM) That would be the whole point. Places like that the object is revenue, not winning. Florida comes to mind #1 and so does San Diego right now. But that's the thing...wouldn't any GM that we could bring here likely have the resources to at least field a competitive team? I can't see a situation where a GM would be brought in and told to have a huge fire sale that results in a 50 million dollar payroll. With KW, it seems a lot of people like KW because he's aggressive, but we've seen how that's backfired the past 3 years.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 02:22 AM) Yes there are. Such as? And please don't list Pirates GMs, etc. that don't have the budget each year to try and compete. It's not like any GM we'd bring in would have to field a team with a 50 million dollar budget.

Feels like we should have 3 or more runs.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 02:20 AM) Fathom, do you think Morel will still be the White Sox starter at 3B in 2015? In some ways he's been pretty lucky that Pierre, Beckham, Dunn and Rios have struggled so much, because Brian Anderson took a lot more heat for better offensive numbers in 2006 since everyone else in that line-up was raking. No idea about Morel. I do know that I have a lot of doubt about his ability to hit at this level, but it will be interesting to see if a young Sox prospect can actually improve on the big league team.
-
Time for a crooked number, as Hammel's stuff is pretty mediocre tonight. Very nice, short swing by Quentin.
-
That's just an awful at bat by Morel in an RBI situation. He can't be chasing both offspeed pitches he sees in an at bat that are in the dirt when he needs to hit a sac fly.

QUOTE (VAfan @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:01 AM) Ok, I'll bite. I wouldn't get rid of either of them. I don't think the Sox are out of the race by any means. And they certainly aren't going to get back in the race by firing KW or Ozzie Guillen. In my view, things could be a LOT WORSE. Didn't we let Tony LaRussa go? How did that work out? Ozzie is an unconventional manager, and KW is an unconventional GM. But I would never count either one of them out. They are both intensely competitive. They bleed for the Sox. And for all the bad moves and bonehead deals, there are counter moves and good deals to balance them out and keep us competitive. I would ask anyone who has posted here to name the replacement for Ozzie or KW that is currently available, and then explain why that person is better and would clearly improve the Sox. It's easy to say "blow it up." It's much harder to figure out how to put it together again. Ugh, why do people always say "KW and Ozzie want to win?" Are there managers/general managers that don't want to win?

Really nice defensive play by Morel.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:45 AM) At the most, there are only about 82 games left in Juan Pierre's regular season White Sox career. You might as well cheer for him to do well, because at this rate, if they ever finally decide to make a change my be too late. Viciedo is due to cool off. It would have been nice having him in the line up while he's on fire. It's ironic, cause I feel like we didn't strike while iron was hot with Lillibridge. He should have been playing every day when he was Miguel Cabrera-esque.

Is it true Dunn has k'd in 16 of his last 19 ABs? Oh, and seeing an 8-9-1-2 coming up tonight = bathroom time for us
-
For those who don't live in Chicago, the Chicago sports radio shows were all over the Pierre/Dunn vs Viciedo debate.
-
Note to our pitchers: don't throw Pena anything to hit this weekend

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) Frank never really put on a BP show like the steroid guys did though. Yes he did, when he was using the aluminum bat for BP in 2004
-
Sergio Mitre released by Brewers. I think he'd be a great fit in our bullpen as a long reliever and a sinker baller.

Bad Teacher was enjoyable to watch, even though I dislike Cameron Diaz.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) Yep. Jackson has disappointed me as I thought he'd find more consistent success under Coopers wings. Hopefully he can have a dominant second half - he's capable - that's for sure. Heck, so is Peavy. This team could be very very exciting for the rest of the year if people start playing up to their potential. We all know that but in moments / weeks of frustration - I think we tend to forget just how talented this group is. If we don't go into the playoffs, 2011 will be on par with 2006 in terms of disappointment for me. In my opinion, it's two different situations. 2006, the Sox played like they were one of the top two or three teams in baseball for an extended stretch. That run during interleague play in 2006 was as exciting a Sox team as there's been for me since I've been a fan. This year, we just haven't come close to putting it all together. Still time though, but let's face it, if you have 3, 4 or 5 hitters in your everyday lineup struggle all season, it wasn't meant to be. Good news is we're still in it when we could have been 10 out by now.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) There's a lot of worst things about this game but I would say it was Adam Dunn and his 4 K's. For me, it seems more likely Viciedo is called up to take at bats away from Dunn instead of taking them from Pierre. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) Where's the accountability JR? $125M+ payroll and look at the crap we trot out there everyday. Not that it's entirely Ozzie's fault, but this was just a really bad AL lineup we had out there today. Way too little power for my liking. Of course, it's all so weird cause we tried to bring in Dunn for that very reason. Enjoy the day off tomorrow everyone! -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 10:06 PM) How much of a d-bag is Michael Morse? He has to be juicing again to be not only producing, but to constantly be this excited. Him and Nix pounding the ball in the middle of the order is pretty comical.
