  1. That a boy Sergio! Thought that might have been a blooper off the bat.
  2. This situation against Ryan here is where we've struggled all year.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 03:41 AM) Maybe one day we'll get a catcher that can throw someone out. That was a fantastic throw by Castro. Santos is very slow to the plate. Sox should walk Ichiro here.
  4. Lillibridge is not going to hit .300
  5. With how slow Wright is to the plate, you have to let Rios try to steal there. If nothing else, it means Lillibridge leads off the 9th.
  6. Very nice Rios! Steal 2nd
  7. Huge kudos to Alexei for being a catalyst and chasing Vargas.
  8. I LOVE THE BAT FLIP!
  9. Juan with a useless couple of games, but of course he doesn't need rest.
  10. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 02:18 AM) Hanging slider again? After a while, you realize that his slider is a hanger. It almost seems an accident if it's low in the zone.
  11. Crainwreck is back. He's given up way too many home runs at home.
  12. This umpire has sucked tonight.
  13. This umpire has really f***ed us over the last few innings. Vargas getting every call you can imagine, and then Smoak got a few calls go his way.
  14. Great at bat by Beckham. Get a runner for Castro
  15. Rios needs to be benched for good
  16. Sox need Viciedo to provide some offense against LHP
  17. Seems like Morel was playing too deep with a runner on 3rd when Kennedy was up. Made it easy for them to score
  18. Got to keep the hitter honest by mixing in a fastball. Awful inning by Gavin
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) That .276 baa, .344 obpa, .483 slga.827 OPS line is sexy. And what's it been since the first two weeks?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) As opposed to Will Ohman protecting a lead? Really? Sure, as long as he gets to face lefties.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) Guys. Ozzie said himself that he didn't feel like he had availability in the pen so clearly Peavy was out there trying to see if he could make is way through it. After the inning he said he couldn't. Big deal. He tried to battle through and help the club and I'm pretty sure pitchers have at various points in time had zero control of there stuff and tried to work through it. My guess was Peavy was hoping that it would take a few pitches and it would losen back up and he'd be fine. Didn't happen and right after the inning he told the coaches he couldn't go anymore. That's the thing...you just can't take chances with Peavy after everything that's taken place.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) With Marquez having been sent out, and the the fact you weren't going to use Santos, Thornton, Sale, or Crain in that situation, you were down to having to choose between either Bruney or Ohman if Jake came out. It could very well be a question of does Peavy with a pull hurt his team more by being in there, or by allowing these guys to pitch multiple innings. Peavy with a pull hurts his team because it's a significant injury that puts his fragile body at risk of an even greater injury. And yes, Peavy with the command he had in the 4th inning is definitely worse than Bruney or Ohman there. Heck, Ohman went 2 innings, 1 run if I believe after Peavy left. I just don't buy into the "mystique" of Peavy, and I guess that's why I have a different viewpoint than a lot of you on here.
  23. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 06:23 PM) I think you are more correct than the the other arguments. It's bad enough now to hear the negative comments about Peavy and his injuries, but at least he went out and tried. He did look unhittable the first three innings and I am sure he had no idea how the "strain" was going to affect him prior to that fourth inning He injured himself worse after the second batter in the 4th inning. It was after that where he walked Boesch, walked Cabrera, gave up a very hard hit, deep sac fly to VMart, then he gave up an 0-2 single to Dirks, and then gave up a bomb to Raburn. Go back and read the thread...a few of us even noted how he was leaving every pitch over the heart of the plate.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) BS. If he would have pulled himself without appearing to be ineffective first we would have been talking about how he is soft. Are you kidding? After the bulls*** about him trying to pitch through pain last year in his shoulder only to see it explode, and then with the Ozzie/Peavy conflict during spring, I don't think there's anyone here that would have criticized him for taking himself out if he truly felt he couldn't command the pitch. I'm sorry, but complaining about how injured you were after the fact and after hurting your team is bulls***.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) Alexei maybe, but Humber and Quentin I don't think are in the discussion. Couple of people on MLB Network thought Quentin should be starting
