QUOTE (zenryan @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 03:11 AM) That was pretty impressive. Stan Heath has been pretty horrid everywhere he went. He's at South Florida and probably should be fired but him winning 20 games and going .500 in the Big East last year probably bought him another 2 years. Add him to the list of despicable recruiters as well. He should have been fired for the Gus Gilchrist recruitment. Another one is Jeff Capel. How does he have a job after the Tiny Gallon recruitment? Capel can thank Blake Griffin for making a lot of money at OU. -

Actually, add JTIII to the list of good coaches. I always forget about him, just like I forget about adding Purnell to the list of bad coaches. -

BTW, how is the BCBA going to feel if all four black coaches in the ACC get fired after this season? Only one with a prayer of staying right now is Hamilton, but I know chimpy is on here always saying that they want him gone. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 03:53 AM) What is bizarre is that minority coaches have done very well in the NBA and NFL but have struggled immensely in college sports. Obviously part of that has to do with the fact that there haven't been very many minority coaches that have gotten the elite jobs but it still is surprising that it is difficult to come up with a minority coach in either college football of basketball that has actually built or maintained a powerhouse. Mike Anderson is probably the best black coach in NCAA right now, followed closely by Tubby Smith (who's yet to really do anything of significance at Minnesota and there's word he wants out after this year). Lorenzo Romar has been solid, but word is that he's about as dirty as there is in the college game (besides Scott Drew). Everyone likes him, but is Craig Robinson the most overrated coach in the NCAA? Oregon St. has been awful the last two years. Clearly, Paul Hewitt, Leonard Hamilton, and Haith need to be taken to the glue factory. Thankfully E. Kent got fired last year, as he was an absolute joke of a coach. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 02:48 AM) They should bring in someone with ties to the city league and just open up a pipeline of kids that want to stay in the city and bang lincoln park trixies I flat out told someone on the search committee that if you can't get Chris Collins, go ahead and get Jerrance Howard. He'll get you anyone in the city that you want. I'd love to talk to that person now and tell them congrats on making a pathetic hire who has no chance of exciting your fan base. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 02:45 AM) Why can't DePaul at least pull one good class from the city schools? Just take a whole Young team or something. They really, really blew it by hiring Purnell. One of the more overrated coaches in all of the NCAA. You and I have as many NCAA tournament wins as he did at Clemson. He was like their 25th choice though. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 03:28 AM) I was praying GT would have comeback to win in hopes that Haith would have been fired tomorrow. GT goes 4-29 from 3pt land and lose by 2. Miami turns it over 29 times and wins by 2. What an ugly, ugly game. Zen, I wish I was still in Grad School so I could write a paper on the struggles on the court for minority coaches. Oh well...in the end, it's better for GT to lose every game. -

Well, GT vs Miami was a terrible basketball game. Awful charge call on Shumpert, but oh well, it's too bad either team gets credit for a win. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 02:57 AM) And fathom, everything I've heard is that Hoiberg knows how to play the game. What game are you referring to? And Heads, don't lump me in with Hawkeyes fans that want the worst for ISU. I have no beef at all with ISU, and hope Hoiberg gets them turned around. -

Wow Paul Hewitt, you f***ing suck! Just a little under 2 months, and your ass will get fired and then you can go try to advise more black players to play for black coaches. Congrats Zen on picking up the rare ACC win. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 11:16 PM) Eh, I have a hard time calling someone who can't do anything more than 5 feet away from the basket one of THE best in the game. If teams figure out to collapse and deny the post, Blake will disappear. And then he'd just crash the glass and still get his 20 points and 12 rebounds a game. Something that is extremely underrated about Griffin is his passing ability. He's not Kevin Love with the outlet passes, but he is great at passing out of the double team.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 09:35 PM) What baggage? Are you thinking of Delmon Young, too? Lots of veterans in New York hated his attitude. He had some issues with the law a few years back as well.

I like it!!

One of my favorite things about Daniel Tosh is just how big of a sports fan you can tell he is.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) How was Tosh.0 the other night? With our power outage the DVR obviously didn't record it. Should I bother hunting down a copy on the Interwebz? The redemption part with the National Anthem singer was amazing, as was the skit with the sword.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 05:04 PM) And some of the guys Hoiberg has went after have some serious character red flags. I personally find it pathetic by Hoiberg, and I thought he had more character than that. Right now, he's no different than how Cal was at Memphis or Tark the Shark at Fresno St. It's to the point that if you get kicked out of school, Hoiberg will be interested in you. -

Michigan St isn't even trying it appears. I've been saying this for a while, but there has got to be some major issues going on with that program. They keep running off players, but the attitude of some of their younger players is awful as well. Poor Izzo, should have taken the Bulls job. -
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Feb 2, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) Except there appeared to be about zero interest in him at the trade deadline. The only reason Viciedo was up before September was because of the black hole at third. With all due respect, you couldn't be more wrong. Rizzo was obsessed with Viciedo, but KW wouldn't give him up.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) Might as well include Boone Logan, Damaso Marte, & Nick Swisher in there. Well, maybe not Swisher, he's actually been doing well. Logan was named the best LOOGY in baseball last year by Baseball Prospectus, IIRC

Curry's a better shooter, but Jimmer is a much better driver and finisher. He'll go way before pick 20, IMO.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 05:25 AM) Haven't posted this thread in awhile, but any of that Jereme Richmond s*** that was posted was just that, bulls***. There were major concerns regarding another player but those have all been resolved over the past couple days. Who was that player? -
I'd rather take the easy bucket and hope for the offensive rebound. I was blown away by how Ohio St. went to Sullinger in a tied game with under 10 seconds left without even having to use a timeout. You rarely see teams play smart like that.

Sullinger is the 2nd best player in the country, and it's not really even close. I've been really impressed by his poise in the paint, and he showed some signs in that Purdue game of what type of range he'll have in a few years. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 03:41 AM) Arent grades the reason DJ transferred to prep school? Richmond would have to go to Europe if he leaves Illinois. No way he sits out a year as transfer and ge wouldn't even get drafted. I think someone would take a chance on Richmond in the 2nd round. He'd be a terrible fit overseas, as you need to be a superior jump shooter if you're his size over there. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 03:27 AM) Talked to an ex coach of his and mentioned he is not doing very well in class and Europe maybe an option. Interesting...a very well-known chicagoland AAU member said there's no way in hell Richmond goes back next season. Also, some buzz that Richardson is struggling in class as well. He struggled to qualify out of high school He's been very accurate in the past besides telling me Shumpert was UNC bound.
