  1. Running Wilde's supposed to be funny, right? Ouch, not very entertaining so far, and I love Will Arnett.
  2. Is it true there's an article in which Ozzie said that having Manny hurt this team due to not being able to have a flexible lineup?
  3. Wasn't Ozzie the same manager who after his first ever game managing the Sox, he told the players to shake off the tough loss and go out and get drunk?
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) Bah, I always thought Frank would make a terrible hitting coach...out of a combination of everything coming so naturally to him and the fact that he had such a unique swing himself. Like Jeff Bagwell, who Astros players LOVE
  5. Hitting coach replacement = Frank Thomas? It wouldn't shock me.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) What makes you think the Sox will go outside of the organization for a new hitting coach? Even if it's Chambliss, it's at least a different voice than what our major league players have heard for a long time. All along, I've said that it's hard to tell if Walker is a great hitting coach or a terrible one, but the one thing that is pretty obvious is that something is broken with the way the team starts and finishes every season, as well as the progress of our young players.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) Or Linebrink. Or Pena. Or Juan Pierre. Or Putz when he's sucking (he's not criticism-free to me unlike the majority of the board) or Rios (though I let fathom do the Rios bashing since nobody else will say an ill word ever about Rios). Are those enough examples for you since you brought it up? So anyone that didn't play on the 2005 Sox?
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:38 PM) Well he was quoting my comment, which never said that Walker was great. Merely stated that a hitting coach is only as good as the players he is given. I cant really think of many players who didnt hit well with the Sox but then went on to improve drastically (Swisher?). You cant polish s*** (well you can as proven by Mythbusters, but I digress). Yes, Swisher is a great example. You could also say that the Twins hitting coach has helped Thome, as I swear he's shortened his swing this season.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 09:44 PM) Probably best. This team actually hit, as a group, better than expected on the season as a whole. By all accounts, Walker worked his tail off. And contrary to the jokes seen on this site, I'm sure he wasn't exactly preaching lift and pull. But he did have some consistent flaws on his teams, like a complete lack of hitting in April-May. Hopefully any new coach can address that. Thanks for all you did, Greg. And a complete lack of hitting every September
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) They put up way more runs this year than anyone expected. I'm more afraid of who they bring in than anything. We all know it won't be anyone with major league experience, because we never hire those kind of coaches. I think the reason that Walker was so popular with the players is that he didn't challenge them enough. Walker should absolutely no ability to help our younger players overcoming the adjustments the league was making to them in a timely period, so I am very happy to get a new perspective into the organization.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 04:48 AM) He is done bro! Ignore the batting average and OBP and his approach at the plate, he sucks. No power. Retire. Bring back Mark Kotsay. He was brought in to be a run producer, and he's sucked at that. If we brought him in to be a leadoff hitter, then he would have been doing his job.
  12. Good thing I'm not watching anymore so I didn't have to hear Hawk and Stone verbally jerk off the mediocre K. Suzuki.
  13. Real, I'm just hoping Ozzie goes, because if he goes, then so does Cooper and Walker. Walker said today that Ozzie's already told him that he wants him back. We are such an awesome 7th inning team right now!
  14. Wow, this team is so freaking awful. Only person who even put up a fight tonight was Pena. Seriously Ozzie, get Flowers and Viciedo some playing time.
  15. Way to suck Linebrink and let Carter get his first career hit.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 05:09 AM) Should Kenny be marketing Pena as a possible starter on the trade market? No, he's more valuable to the Sox as a possible replacement starter for guys like Peavy. Pena should start the rest of the season to see if he can keep this up.
  17. Lillibridge is not a Major League player. He's getting close to being Chuck Knoblauch in the field.
  18. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 04:50 AM) Any analysis of the sox using X player properly requires the Ozzie factor to be analyzed. Garcia is family and if he is on the team and Ozzie is here he is a starter. If he hit lefty and was grindy Ozzie would consider him the best baseball player that has ever played. Thought for sure when I saw that you posted it was going to be another fantastic rant about Walker's hitters fading like crazy down the stretch, especially with the long ball.
  19. This team is just putting on a clinic with RISP lately.
  20. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 04:38 AM) Shut him down. He's pitched about 190 innings anyway. I honestly would shut down Danks and Buehrle too, but I know we won't do that. But hey.. we get to see more Lucas Harrell and Carlos Torres! Might have to keep an eye out of that 15th race more closely. Jackson should be shut down as well. Instead, Ozzie seems to be pushing the starters more than usual. Really have to hope we dodge a bullet without having a serious Floyd shoulder injury.
  21. Please add any updates about Floyd's injury to this thread
  22. Tightness behind right shoulder for Gavin
  23. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 03:56 AM) Actually, he grabbed his tricep, not his bicep. Stone said the initial report is "shoulder tightness." Hopefully MRI comes back clean, and we shut him down for the season. If it's a severe shoulder issue, then Gavin has a very long road ahead of him.
