QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 09:23 PM) Awful trade for the Celtics. I don't get how adding a combo 3/4 possibly that won't start and getting rid of a very good defensive C possibly improves that team. Especially since they just made it easier for the Heat to match up with them. Celtics needed a center with the health issues surrounding O'Neal(x2) and Perkins. I hated watching Green on OKC. Definitely seemed like he was determined to shoot no matter what when he got the ball.

It's still crazy to me how much the Bulls shooting guard position this year resembles the rotation DH from last year's Sox team. Will there be a Manny Ramirez out there that's bought out by his team?

Players like Taj are a dime a dozen. Asik has more long-term potential as an actual center, but I have no problem getting rid of 25 yr old, 2nd year Taj.

Jake Peavy Thread
On the Score this morning, they were saying there's some concern he'll be pitching in the 86-88 mph range. I don't think anyone knows what to expect though, but I'm sure there will be overreactions (yours truly included) come early March after his first start.

Adam Wainwright significant elbow injury
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) I disagree, division titles arent won on paper in Spring Training, especially in the NL Central which is weaker than the Ukraine. Stay the course, sign some journeymen and lets see how it starts out. Millwood would be a good signing for them. However, tough to say NL Central is that weak. There's still some excellent players in that division. I'm excited to see the Brewers, but they'll probably be just as frustrating as ever.

Wasn't there also some link to PEDs between Prior and his pitching coach or trainer in the offseason?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 01:06 AM) Everyone said the same thing about Ted Lilly and he managed to do alright. That's cause Lilly had a horse shoe up his ass and pitched at Wrigley with the wind blowing in seemingly every game. When he did pitch with wind blowing out there, it was bombs away.

QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:44 AM) I think Mike Davis falls into the category of getting too much crap, too. Overall he's had a solid season. He's thoroughly reviled on message boards but if people look over his career he's been a good player for Illinois. I understand that given his height and jumping ability people want more, and he never really added aggression going to the hoop but Illinois was lucky they managed to pick him up late in the recruiting cycle. He and Tisdale are bad fit together, I think. In fact, the whole Illinois team is less than the sum of it's parts. It's funny that until 4 years ago the opposite was usually true. Illini fans are in love with the "back-up quarterback" syndrome this year. They keep asking to see more of Leonard, Head, and Bertrand...but after they see them play, they realize why they're not getting a lot of playing time. But yes, there's way too much talent to being player as poorly as they are.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:19 AM) Thomas has been an absolute disaster against teams not named Illinois in Big 10 play. Yep, given his "is he losing the game on purpose" first half against Purdue. Lauderdale plays solid defense and let's face it.....do you want to be the person who tells him he's no long starting?

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 01:47 AM) My guess is that Richmond hates McCamey because McCamey doesn't play hard. I hate these 4 seniors (although Davis has been playing much better) I still think Tisdale gets way, way too much crap from Illini fans. You really want Leonard on the court more? Tisdale is what he is...great shooter, weak interior offensively, mediocre defense. Better than Leonard who contributes negatively on the court right now.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 12:44 AM) You have a hard-on for any negative report about Richmond. Did he steal an ex-girlfriend of yours or something? Weber's halftime interview pretty much sums it up. He's lost this team. Oh, and it wasn't me who stated on here that he's having academic issues.

Weber's halftime interview pretty much sums it up. He's lost this team. Actually, it's more about McCamey being an ass. But yeah, I hate Richmond. He's a piece of crap. The stuff he said last year to a coach after a game was enough for a handful of coaches to try and get him eliminated from Mr. Basketball voting. True story, and if you really care, I'll be happy to pm you the details.

2011 Cubs Thread
A friend of mine at work said he got called today asking if he wanted to buy season tickets. He had been on a waiting list for the package for 11 years, and wasn't even close to being at the front of the list last season. The ticket rep said they're way below expectations at this point.

Isn't It Amazing How Easy It Is to Keep Rabid Fans Happy?
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 02:15 AM) You say this all the time. Just because the supposed strength of the team underachieved doesn't mean you can't compensate in other areas. Kotsay was a joke. Everybody knew it before the season. He reinforced that with his pathetic performance. Thing is I'm not mad at him. That was all Ozzie and KW.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 01:55 AM) I actually thought you were serious in the "this team is so bad and disappointing that once they finally reach the point where my expectations couldn't be any lower, they beat some ridiculously talented team" mindset. Hell no, they've absolutely quit. Things have gotten so ridiculous with the program that members of the AD openly talk about who the next coach will be in front of Hewitt at AD meetings. Hewitt is gone around March 11th.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 02:41 AM) Coach K gets a T, and then GT gets 5 straight fouls called on them. Shocking. No fouls called in final 10 minutes of first half against Duke. And I don't think there's enough green in the world for my "GT will win tonight". They could have J. Jack, Thad Young, Favors, Bosh, and Morrow on the court and Hewitt would still find a way to lose.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) Exactly what I was thinking fathom. He is the reason OSU is down right now. If there was ever a play on the take, it's Thomas in this game. His missed FT couldn't have been more of a brick, and for a guy shooting 83 percent on the year, that was very interesting.
