Gamethread: White Sox (65-51) vs Tigers (55-60) 6:05PM CST

PK has really, really struggled on defense the last 10 games or so. Jackson needed that DP, as Arizona Edwin showed up so far with his poor command. -

You hate seeing Konerko lay off such meatballs when up in the count. -
Rangers/Red Sox with the game of the year so far. Josh Hamilton is just an amazing player.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 05:32 AM) How is it any different than a starting pitcher warming up then the game getting delayed at the start and coming in? Happens all the time In those situations, 90% of the time, the teams know the game will be delayed so they don't warm up the pitchers before it starts. Even Stoney and Hawk were talking about the difficulties of pitching after a long delay. The Marlins had all sorts of injury issues relating to this when Girardi was their manager, as I believe this is how Josh Johnson suffered a major injury. And greg, you have to judging the severity of issues by how much the media writes about something. If there was a correlation, then tonight's Bears game would be the most important game of the season. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 04:18 AM) Santos K's Damon for 2nd out on a very nice change up and now Peralta grounds into a force out. Leaving Santos in paid off. It's a big no-no health wise -

Leaving Santos in the game is absolutely inexcusable. -

QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 03:42 AM) Friggin Twinkies with a lucky horseshoe up their ass again tonight. Goddamn. Oakland has had so many running in scoring position. They have 12 hits and to friggin runs. Twins luck is gonna run out here at some point..... Crain's been an absolute savior for their bullpen. Twins have been outhit by 8, and look to be in great position to win. -
Twins have a horse shoe up their ass lately with all the jams they're getting out of.

Almost guaranteed to be a rain delay during the game...an impressive line of red on the radar heading for Chicago. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) Rosenthal had a quote from an executive about a week ago saying that basically everyone is being blocked, no one is getting through. This is hardly surprising since almost all the good players that may be available have reasonable contracts. This can't be true, as Chris Rongey said it would be easy to acquire a bat during the season.

I pointed this out yesterday, but I just hate having one hitter with any real power in the lineup. With Rios showing no signs of power in the 2nd half, only Konerko is a long ball threat in this lineup. -

Wow, we really expect to contend with a lineup like this? -
Outhomered 7 to 2 in a 3 game set with the Twins, and both homers were from Quentin. This team needs more power.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 04:11 AM) or the Royals Indians and the AL East What's our record against AL teams besides Seattle?
-
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 04:09 AM) Maybe we are just runnin out of gas from that great run we had. That's very, very possible, and also why the deadline was so disappointing. I'm ready to make Omar the Player-Manager...at least he had the guts to suggest this team needed an upgrade.
-
QUOTE (Allsox @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 04:09 AM) The one thing that bothers me is how we pitch away, away to the Twins. Why not duplicate Danks? He busted their asses in the whole damn game and poof, they scored only one run. Hawk said this Tuesday and the Sox only listened once. Pitch them away, play them to pull. I've been amazed at how often Thome just flips the ball to LF in the games we've played the Twins. He never did this when he was on the Sox.

Jenks has got to be on his way to the DL now.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 02:57 AM) i really shouldn't be as mad as i am....this twins teams is simply better than we are...thats something i've known all year There's no denying that the Twins talent is far superior to that of the Sox. I still believe they have the third most talented lineup in baseball after the Yankees and Phillies (when healthy).

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 02:53 AM) He'll be carrying his own suitcase tomorrow, I think. Lots of talent, no discipline. Walking to the airport will be the first walking he's done in a month.
-
QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 03:52 AM) he deserves it....soxtalk collectively needs to put it back in their pants over this kid Yep, and it's not going to help KW's case that he was the untouchable he wouldn't give up to try and get Dunn.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 03:49 AM) I feel like I am in the f***ing twilight zone. How many years post ASB do we give up the booty to the twins. Year in and year out the same formula. Mental mistakes + poor situational hitting + bad pitches. If we excel at anything its locating players who have issues with the pucker factor. We put more pressure on ourselves in situations that the pressure is on the opposition. This just sickens me. We should be winning tonight. And here we are, with the boogeyman once again walking out with a 2nd half win. Don't discredit how good of a job the Twins do at throwing our hitters offspeed pitches when they get 2 strikes on them. It seems simple enough, but you rarely see the Twins make 2 strikes mistakes to our hitters.
