QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) Surely Nick Swisher would be smarter than too allow pictures of such a thing. But seriously, I thought that was Chicago's worst kept secret? It would be up there along with the extracurricular activities of Kyle Farnsworth, Scottie Pippen, etc.

a great post overlooked in the game thread...

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) I really think this is a great post and that it deserves its own thread. Yes, it sucked to lose 2 to the Orioles, and yes it would suck even more to lose 3 games to the Orioles. It really sucked. However, it's become increasingly alarming that this team has literally no margin for error before most of the board thinks they have no chance at well, anything, even sometimes don't even deserve paying attention to for the remainder of the day. The moment the Sox are down against a bad team people are flying off of a bridge in the game thread. Why exactly is that? People rode out a terrible August in 2005, and showed a lot more patience through something like a 5-13 stretch, and this was before the White Sox could even prove they could win a pennant, let alone a World Series. You're right, it's not like 60% of this site had pictures of someone choking in their sig. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) We won't need to send Viciedo down if Beckham goes to the Dl. I can't see him going on the DL for that.

When KW didn't acquire a bat at the deadline, you had to know there was going to be even more skepticism and negativity about this offense when they struggled. And this offense was pretty damn good during our 31 game stretch, as well as recent performances at home. The biggest story of this season, with regards to the offense, is the seemingly Coors Field impact playing at the Cell is having on our hitters. -
Something that will be frustrating is if we send Viciedo down after Monday in order to promote Teahen, even though we face two LHP during Twins series.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) What use is this supposed versatility if we don't use it, Ozzie? Where the hell was Dayan? All season, he's shown no idea when to PH for our players in situations we might need a home run. Just a terrible baseball day when you consider we lost a game in standings, and our best hitter right now got injured.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) I was calling for the Pinch Hit (PH), not the DH. Yeah, I changed it to PH.
-
QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) PH with the Tank!!! Sorry, he's an untouchable that cannot be allowed to PH.

Ugh, Viciedo really should have been batting for Lillibridge there.
-
Ha, Castro is a stud.

Twins win...Indians gift-wrapped this game for them.
-
Kenny should have been out looking for a RF at the deadline. He was too busy trying to call Rizzo's bluff, and apparently wasn't even close to acquiring Dunn. Everyone in the world can see that the Sox need to put Quentin at DH for his health and the team's overall defense.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) Can't afford to take the AB's away from Kotsay. The thing is, I don't know what can really be done about this offense right now. Kotsay obviously is swinging the bat well the past few days, but it seems we're struggling to get extra base hits.
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) He had a routine fly ball but it was hit right into the sun and he couldn't find it. Deflected off his glove and Jones ended up on second. Quentin to the DL with a strained eye?
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) Quentin had no idea where that ball was... and he's limping. What happened? Good news is he should be at DH tomorrow anyways.
-
Looks like I missed another bad offensive inning for the Sox.
-
That would have been a hell of a finish to the no-hitter.
-
Just an ugly, uninspired three games so far. Come on Tribe!
-
QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 07:22 PM) You did dig deep into the books with his last three games... Okay, he OWNS us. It just sounds like something a 14 year old would jump to conclusion and say when someone has performed well against us. But hey, I say juvenile s*** all the time so who cares anyways. In the past, he dominated us with his fastball. His slider has been pretty damn good today. I can't believe no teams tried to get him at the deadline.
-
So Sox miss Verlander again next weekend, don't we?
-
Wow, Buehrle with nothing out there. Orioles could easily have 6 or 7 runs by now if not for that bad base running.
-
So if Beckham goes to the DL, I assume that means Omar at 2nd and Teahen at 3rd? I don't want to see Lillibridge get too many ABs vs RHP.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) Since its almost automatic that he'd be safe and with Vizquel, pretty much a singles hitter at bat, it doesn't hurt to take them when you can get them. One run is better than none. Guthrie's move is too good. On his stolen base, a decent throw and he was out.

Hey daa, how about your boy Alvarez last night?

5-4 Twins after 7...Duensing had nothing, but managed 5 straight scoreless
