QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:41 AM) Which is the polar opposite of what they've been saying about Hudson for the past year. So this was either gamesmanship on the Sox's part to inflate Hudson's trade value, or the Sox trying to save face after Rizzo's alleged renege. I don't think Ozzie or Cooper trust rookies in a pennant race.
-
Said he thinks Dunn isn't going anywhere, but the situation changes frequently. Did say KW is not going to trade for Dunn if the price is outrageous.
-
One thing that I learned from listening to KW, Cooper, and Ozzie today is that they were not high on Hudson at all.
-
If the Sox really did only want to get Jackson because of a possible Dunn deal, then quite simply, find a reason for him to fail his physical.

QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:19 AM) The way I see it, Cowley's original tweet that the Jackson deal was on hold was the Sox finding out they could get Berkman. Berkman turned down the Sox trade offer, and the Sox went ahead with the Jackson deal and Berkman signed with the Yankees. I posted the link in other threads, but sounds like Sox weren't nearly as close to getting Berkman as was reported. There wasn't even a trade finalized that needed his approval. Berkman said no to a few teams.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:14 AM) He "got" Lance Berkman. Nope http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,7294813.column

Sounds like KW never had a deal with the Astros, and that Berkman declined to go to other teams as well http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,7294813.column

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:14 AM) Why does everyone consider Hudson "our most valuable" to every team? How do you know what every other team considers valuable? How do you know that there's not a team that doesn't covet a young power bat like Viciedo who's mashing in the bigs to all fields like a veteran at 21 over Hudson who crapped his pants in the bigs at 23? Tonight Lucas freaking Harrell just showed twice the sac on the mound that Hudson ever has. Harrell was 5 feet away from not making it out of the 2nd inning. He pitched very well from the 4th-6th, but it's too early to say anything about Hudson's intestinal fortitude.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:12 AM) You make a 3 way deal. Not do it in pieces, but if Rizzo gave his word that getting Jackson would get you Dunn, and now he's singing a different tune, his days as a GM are more than likely numbered. I like to give KW a hard time, but if someone went back on their word, he's blameless here even if he was a little careless not doing it as a 3 way. If that was the plan, it appears all of Cowley's crap was total BS. The thing with Cowley is he always like to say how numerous reporters are given false scoop by KW and company in order to keep the actual moves under the radar. I guess Cowley doesn't realize he's one of these reporters who is being used.

Sounds like Lilly's going to the Dodgers

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:08 AM) Remember how one of the justifications for the rotating DH was that we could easily fill the spot if we had to by the deadline? We can all admit that was bunk now, right? We can still make a a move by tomorrow, but it sure wasn't the walk in the park that management seemed to think it'd be. Yes, but that movement was led by the host of our pre/postgame radio show. Enough said

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:05 AM) Exactly, this is a huge blunder by Kenny. You never commit to something like this without something worked out in advance with all parties. It sounds like we just got robbed of two prospects for a trade chip that we can't trade. And we're still without offensive help, which is what KW wanted to actually get. Still 16 hours for KW to find another player.

Brenly using the old "Rockies are having someone tip them off to the pitch" excuse

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:00 AM) Heard from an exec not involved in the discussions that the White Sox are furious with the Nats over Edwin Jackson. via Law. I'm sorry, but KW has no one to blame but himself if all this is true. If you're making what equates to a 3-way deal, you better make sure all teams are 100% sure.

8 extra base hits in this very inning for the Rockies.

Why do pedophiles not get along well with people? They struggle to fit in.

I wouldn't take Kotsay over Chone, straight up

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:57 AM) Yeah, it's not like he strikes out a ton...but he needs to lay off the stuff outside. I know he has a good stroke to the opposite field, but I'd like to see him not swing at pitcher's pitches early in the count. He's had a lot of fly outs to right field, and he's a good enough hitter to control the at bat more.
