GT: White Sox @ A's 7/25, 3:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:59 PM) I just had a Facebook convo with people trying to defend him for it. I've never talked to more boneheaded Sox fans in my life. The constant thinking that Thome is now a backup, even with a .920 OPS, and that Thome isn't on the team anymore so why are we even talking about this drove me f***ing crazy. Those same fans probably listen to the Score and think that what's being said on there justifies their belief about the DH-by-committee.

Anyone stop to think that Sox didn't acquire Haren cause it would have been too much money to have him in the rotation along with the other main 4 next season?

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) WEell, I guess that's the ole ballgame. A's with one big inning whch seems to haunt the Sox recently in their loses. They can't seem to get out of the bad innig without least 4 runs scoring Great point, the big inning has been killing the Sox. It's definitely what we had avoided during the 25-5.

Awful....we sucked on this road trip. Ozzie letting Jones face Wuertz when he had Omar and Kotsay on the bench was one of the top 3 bonehead managerial decisions by him on the season.

Wow Beckham, you f***ing sucked today. One of the worst all-around games of the season.

Awesome managing Ozzie. Wuertz might be the worst match-up for Jones in all of baseball.

Ugh, no way Jones should be facing Wuertz.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) Usually the PTBNL's...unless it's bureaucratic reasons as you note, are mid-level type guys that you think you could benefit from more scouting, since you can only not name them for 6 months. Yep, which means it's not one of their numerous draft picks from this past draft.

AJP really struggling catching/throwing today. Looks like he has a very long night last night.

Not sure what that 89mph pitch was...good location!

93-94 mph straight fastballs at the knees = good swing by hitter

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) And on this one, you and I ganged up and said that the team was going to regret it. My favorite was when he was be supporting all of this nonsense on the radio, and someone called him up and asked him how often does a team acquire hitting during the season that actually helps them out. He couldn't think of anyone, but he attacked the caller by saying just cause it hasn't happened, it doesn't mean it won't and then went on to say that the DH position wouldn't make or break the Sox.

QUOTE (The Beast @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:38 PM) I'm beginning to wonder how much worse the Sox would have been this year with Jermaine Dye as the DH or in RF and Quentin DHing. Similarly, I wonder what would have happened if Thome was the DH and not this DH by committee bulls*** that Ozzie spoonfed to Williams. I know, I'm hearing Rongey's voice in the back of my head saying, "There's a reason why 30 teams have passed over Dye," and I'm recalling the argument of, well Thome is a bad choice for a, b and c. But anyway, Kotsay sucks, there's a reason why they traded Anderson for him. Just wondering how the team would have been otherwise, especially if Podsednik was back instead of Pierre, who isn't the worst candidate for the job - at least they don't have 'W' Harris out there. Rongey was one of the main people supporting the DH by committee.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:34 PM) I really can't believe that there's people that believe Ozzie made the right decision by not wanting Thome. REALLY? Don't worry, he'll have hell to pay if they don't make the postseason.

Am I a bad fan for wanting Quentin traded if he has any value? Between his defensive awfulness, injury issues, and streaky hitting...I really would love to get good value for him.

That's really just an awful trade for Arizona.

Dan Haren traded to the Angels
Saunders is not going to enjoy pitching home games at that park.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:27 PM) Can't believe at the Haren deal, does it even make sense for the Angels? Sure, for the future. Saunders stinks, and don't forget the Angels stacked their system the last few drafts.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:26 PM) Really, PK is the master of the just missed HR late in ball games. He's been great at home in the clutch, and brutal on the road.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:22 PM) What a stupid approach. That's not how you win baseball games. He got a great pitch to hit. At least he swung at that instead of the inevitable strike out on an offspeed pitch.
