  1. Another softly hit ball by Caruso. There's a huge flaw with his swing right now...I'm sure Walker will figure it out.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 12:39 AM) I really hate the Juan Pierre acquisition. Yep, I can't stand watching him bat with RISP.
  3. Can Lucy be our leadoff hitter? He continues to give us very good at bats.
  4. Wow, a homer to Matt Treanor? This is a terrible bottom of the order for Texas.
  5. Offense better wake up soon. Not the 6 game series to have them sleepwalk through. No idea what Quentin and Walker are working on, but it's not working. His swing looks worse than before.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) Dillard and Booker now both OFFICIALLY gone from SIU. Both had their good and their bad. Sucks Dillard is going. I know for a fact he was regretting signing with us his senior year at HF but tried to tough it out. Yep, he wanted to go to Oregon or go to prep school, but he got talked into going to SIU (Dillard, that is)
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 12:51 AM) I really hope this doesn't become a "we should have traded him when we could have" thing. Truth be told, I've never been impressed by his stuff. I have doubts about how he'll retire lefty hitters in the majors. With that said, we have no one else being close to ready, so you can't trade him. It's funny, I have the same doubts about Tyler Flowers.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) I take it you're buying the .911 OPS he has this year and not the .804 he put up last year? Well, even an .804 would be better than what Pierre or Kotsay will give us.
  9. If we're not taking salary into account, Ordonez might be the best hitter we could get back.
  10. Ely to start for the Dodgers on Wednesday vs the Mets
  11. Anyone else notice the face lift that Doris Burke got? She's still a 1 out of 10, but I thought it was interesting to see.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 10:43 PM) You'd be complaining constantly about how we needed to upgrade from our weak hitting SS. Yeah, since I never say that I think Theriot does a great job of hitting tough pitching and always starts late rallies for the Cubs. He's a bad fielder, but I don't think Alexei is very special over at SS either. Give me the guy who makes consistent contact, and isn't a liability for the first two months of the season.
  13. With the way this season has started, it makes a Gonzalez trade even more unlikely. First, the Padres are peforming well. Second, AJP's struggles makes Flowers development even more important. Third, with our poor attendance prognosis, it makes Gonzalez's likely extension by the Sox more in doubt and highlights the need for younger talent.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) So who would rather have Theriot as that starting SS over Ramirez? Any volunteers. I will never, ever say that. In a heartbeat
  15. Ozzie Ball worked in 2005 not because of the offense, but because of the pitching. If your bullpen is absolutely unhittable and your starting pitching dominant during the first few months of the year, scoring 3 runs can win you a lot of games.
  16. Clayton Richard is one of the hardest throwing lefty starters in baseball. That's pretty talented, in my opinion. It's going to be hard to judge how he would have been on the Sox, as he's in the perfect park for him to pitch in.
  17. Jenks just has to stop piping the first pitch fastball to lefties. He does that so often, and everyone is looking for it.
  18. Even though we all probably wanted to see Thornton in to face Griffey Jr., Ozzie made the same move every other manager would at this point in the season. If he pulled Jenks there, you run the risk of losing him mentally for a while. If Jenks blows 4-5 saves in a short span, then maybe Ozzie would have pulled him.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 02:26 AM) It's funny. But Greg has a point. I've never been less impressed with a 3-game sweep by the Sox in almost 20 years (yes, I know I can't recall every sweep of the last 20 years). But you get the point. I just don't feel like we're playing any better now than we were before Friday. BUT I'll take the wins anyway we can get them. The thing is, our offense is still playing about as badly as possible. We could easily be 4-15 right now, etc. I'll take 3 games under .500 considering how much has gone wrong. I'm thrilled with the weekend sweep, and it's nice to have some excitement and energy with the team.
  20. I love that we went 4-2 on the home stand and got outscored by like 15 runs.
  21. Danks is our ace! Didn't even have good command, and he dominated Seattle. Great having a sweep to keep us happy with tomorrow's day off.
